I just went to visit Sensei Jeffrey Weber at his location this past Christmas and I was very impressed with the dojo and the students. Not only is Sensei Weber highly qualified to be an excellent sensei, who also practices other forms of martial art on the side, but the second floor dojo is immaculate. When I went to visit, the kids were having a holiday party. Whenever they stopped by Sensei Weber to ask a question, they addressed him with so much respect and looked up to him with a child's sense of trust-- not from fear (maybe a little because Sensei is like a tree) but because he has obviously taught them so much. The group of children varied in ages, sex, and ethnicities. They all got along well with each other and as the parents came to pick each one up, they all bowed to the dojo and they all gave their goodbyes to their sensei in the best manners one could ever expect. The dojo is well equipped with training equipment, orderly, and neat with a sense of calm. You have an idea of the kind of person who runs the dojo simply by how it is laid out. Visit this hidden gem and consider bringing yourself and your children there to learn karate. It's a great way to get your children to learn a martial art but it's also a great way to have them socialize in a structure where they learn to have patience, discipline and order from a sensei who has been trained by a well-known and highly respected instructor from Japan. read more

Sunrise Karate is a hidden gem in NYC and a World Class Karate dojo. This Karate Dojo has produced a World Champion in sport karate, countless national level karate champions and most importantly a haven for personal growth through the art of karate.
