Tumble 22

Tumble 22

Great service, quick, and delicious!…read more The heavenly eggs were so good with the candied bacon, and the dirty fries were honestly enough to make me full on their own. I would come back and try their stupid hot (ghost) flavor next time. I had the habanero and it was spicy yet the chicken flavor was still good. If you're a true spicy fanatic I would recommend this spot to try, as there is still good flavor outside of being spicy with their chicken.

My wife and I love this place....it's a borderline problem. When we lived in Kyle we would drive up…read moreto the Lake Austin location once a week. When we moved to San Marcos and realized they were opening one up across from HEB off exit 205 we both looked at each other and said in unison "uh-oh". Hot chicken sandwiches are one of my favorite things to eat on the planet. Our yearly trips to Nashville aren't complete until I go to Prince's, Hattie Bs and Boltons. The first time we went to Tumble was 2 days after returning from a trip and I'll put T22 up against any of them all day. We have never even gone to the Hattie Bs in Austin because we don't need to. I have tried a couple other hot chicken spots in the area and was severely disappointed. They set the bar that high. A Big Larry is a must have. Blood orange frozen marg with a Gran Mariner floater that is perfect for that Central Texas heat. Bone-in chicken and tenders are great but the OG sandwich is the star of the show. You can choose from 6 different heat levels from nothing to "stupid hot"...which is in fact stupid hot. I go one notch below (cluckin hot) and my wife enjoys dang hot. The OG is huge so come hungry. We have actually taken to ordering the Lil OG so we don't drive home in a coma. Try it Korean style at least once. It doesn't disappoint. They have several other sandwich versions as well so, plenty of variety. The fries are like old school McDonald's fries (compliment, have to get the comeback sauce of course) but the ranch beans are my typical go to. I do wish they had potato salad like other locations but the slaw is great if I'm in the mood to cool things off. They are also know for their pies, I'm partial to the Key Lime. The happy hour menu (4-6pm) is a legitimately good value as well and has items on there you'll actually want to order (Big Larry, Lil OG, etc). The staff, management, bartenders and hosts are always attentive and cheerful. We bring our dogs and sit on the patio and everyone comes by to give them some pets, water bowl and even the occasional treat. You'll love it here just like anyone and everyone we take here who visits from out of town or who we brow-beat in to going who hasn't been yet.

Mochas & Javas has been a part of the San Marcos coffee infrastructure for a long time. My…read moresorority used to meet on the Texas State University campus and this coffee shop was one of our "go to" places. Ironically, we were on the campus of Texas State university today for another reason and the car stopped at Mochas & Javas. It is definitely a "go to" spot for students, locals, and visitors. The back story...Kevin Carswell founded Mochas & Javas 2003 and the very first two San Marcos locations were opened together with his brother, Kirby Carswell, and both of their wives...therefore, truly a family-owned business. The restaurant is large with an open atmosphere created by the tall ceilings and windows. This location can easily be a study location, friend meet up, or where good food and great conversation are needed. Without a doubt the coffee is the highlight at Mochas & Javas. The menu offerings include an assortment of espresso drinks, brewed coffee, cold brew, teas, and seasonal specials. Our personal favorites include the salted caramel mocha and pecan pie latte. Mochas & Javas also have complementary food to accompany the javas. The good news is that breakfast is served all day including pancakes, egg plates, breakfast sandwiches, paninis, salads, and baked goods. The Classic breakfast sandwich, our selection, was quite tasty. The servers are friendly and welcoming...super fast. Great "go to" shop...

It's a pretty standard cafe with food and drinks that are decent and straightforward--nothing super fancy or out of the ordinary, but that's not a bad thing. The simplicity makes it a reliable spot for grabbing a coffee, studying, or just catching up with friends. Overall, Mochas & Javas is a solid choice for students looking for a comfortable, accessible place to hang out or get some work done.

I grew up eating McAlister's and have ordered the same Grilled Chicken Club since the early 2000s…read more It's a basic sandwich, but I seriously can't get enough of it! I could easily replicate the sandwich to save me some money (and a 25 min drive on a good day), but it's the nostalgia and tastiness that keeps me coming back. What it is: The Grilled Chicken Club is a simple, yet refreshing layered sandwich made with slices of wheat bread spread with dijon honey mustard and mayo, then stacked with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and sliced grilled chicken. I can literally recite the exact ingredients from memory. The cookies are delicious, the sweet tea is spot on, and the soups are always solid. A cashier recently recommended me the lasagna soup from my regular chicken tortilla soup, and now I can't stop making my own version at home. If this McAlister's ever closes, I will be devastated!!! Unfortunately, this location does not serve mashed potatoes as a side, which is a bummer!!

I am neither greeted by the cashier on her phone, nor given any sign that orders are kept elsewhere. After almost 10 minutes, I see someone else go to the counter and ask where their order is. When i walk ip to do the same, we are told that they have a problem with theft so they keep everything behind the counter now. A practical solution a suppose. But a sign slob the aforementioned area, or maybe greeting the waiting customer, would be good additions.
