Lady gets super overwhelmed under pressure. There was a few people in line and she all of sudden didn't want to answer about a product. She was perfectly fine answering before but as soon as she felt she had a line she was very rude and basically stopped me from asking a question. Not very good customer service in my opinion. I bought what I thought would be good but I'll for sure go to another gnc before I come back here! There's a reason this store has such negative reviews. If you know exactly what you need and don't need ANY help sure go here but if you may have any questions I'd find another close by. I've had better experiences at other gnc's. read more

Interesting experience... called ahead of time to see if they sold individual pre-workout packets. I could not hear the lady and so I repeated my question; I was answered with a "that's what I just said." I still couldn't hear so just thanked the lady and disregarded. I entered the store 20 minutes after my call. Granted, I was on a conference call for work, and I was on speakerphone as my ear audio is shot... may I have been talking a little loud? Perhaps, but no one else was in the store. Some old lady was "training" a young employee as I entered. No "hello," no "how can we help." So I continued to look and talk out loud, then I asked where individual packets were to which this lady pointed to the counter. I started to pick my supplements when I look up to her saying "I don't really care if you have something to say back, but I was training an employee and you talking on the phone was extremely rude." I was stunned, so I told my coworkers that I would call them back. I looked at her with a perplexed and shocked look, only to respond "really? Alright, my bad, I apologize." Note to owner of the store: when a customer walks in, it's usually customary to greet them and ask if they need help. Training an employee is secondary to helping a customer. IF a customer is doing something that annoys you, distracts you from a task, or just upsets you for unknown reasons, a simple "excuse me sir, could you please lower your volume, I am training a new customer. Thank you!" Is SUCH A BETTER WAY TO HANDLE THAT KIND OF SITUATION. So, maybe the owner was having a bad day, but still rubbed me the wrong way enough to write a review. read more

Decided to go here instead of ordering online just to make things convenient. I will never come to this location or any other GNC location again. My fiancé actually was running errands and offered to stop in for me. Once walking up to the counter to check out, she was greeted by a female employee, who asked judgingly "Are these products for you..." To avoid furthering the conversation my fiance let her know, they were indeed not for her, and for me. The employee then decided to rant about how the products I had chosen are "not good" and are "just going to keep making him lose weight" Which is literally the point of the product I chose... The employee continued to rant until pushing another product on us and sending us home with a sample, and continuing to bash the product we selected. Word of advice: If someone comes to your store and spends money... Don't tell them to not purchase said products from your store. Chances are, you come off as rude, you also don't appear to know what you're talking about, AND you lose a customer, while the brand you bash, keeps one. read more

I've been into fitness since 2010, and I've been to many GNC stores from all over California. I just recently moved from Long Beach down to San Diego - I liked the GNC store that I used to go to...but I have to say, after my first visit to this GNC, by far, this GNC has the best customer service along with the products that I need for my fitness goals. Ask for Valerie or Travis! Valerie totally set the vibe and the positive experience that I had here at this GNC. She's very welcoming, happy and positive! She helped me a lot with what I needed, and she's very current with the specials, the product sales and inventory. Travis is upbeat, great listener, great people skills. He sincerely cares about your needs. He definitely looks the part and has product knowledge. I felt great about my purchases. I highly recommend this GNC! I highly recommend to speak with Valerie or Travis if you need any assistance. I would normally shop at the smaller ma' & pa' nutrition stores, but now, things changed. Similar bad customer experience as many stated. I came in for a sale posted on the GNC website. The guy there was cashing out another customer an asked if I needed help. I told him about the sale. He finished with the other customer. And asked again what I needed. He then cuts me off and says "it doesn't matter because I'm not honoring that deal." GNC website clearly state the stores will honor sales and even price match, but this store is clearly not interested in making money. The most unenthused employees here. I was sent a box from GNC on auto pay that I asked them to cancel. They instead sent me the box and told me I would have to return the items to the store. I went to this Mira Mesa store for the return. The guy behind the counter started to help me as an elder woman who was on the phone began wagging her finger in my face. As she eventually got off the phone and chose to use her words instead of wagging her finger in my face, she told me I couldn't return the items to her store because they are from corporate. I told her they said I have to return it to a store, can you please show me where it says that. She said no. I asked where a corporate store was and she started to stall. Product is about to expire and the service sucks. They set their own prices and I'm talking 30% increase from what you'd pay at other GNC's and don't honor any online discounts or price matching so don't even go on the gnc website for information if your coming to this location. From my experience Silvia cares more about her personal phone calls while working than the actual customers who are bringing business. I came in looking for a variety of supplements along with 5 other friends as we have all recently started to hit the gym. As soon as we came into the store on Saturday, July 9th around 7:30 pm, the old lady that was working there was immediately complaining about her 9 hour shift to another customer. My friends and I were looking around when she stopped to ask us in an annoyed tone if we were looking for anything or if we were just browsing. My friends and I said we were just looking. My friends were talking at a normal volume and were respecting all of the products, putting them back where they belong, but then she started to speak to the other customers in reference to us. She said things such as "I think God is testing me", "I didn't know I would have to babysit today" or "Why are people coming into the store on a Saturday afternoon? We should just advertise 'Hey, if everyone's free on a Saturday, come to GNC'" , and continued to complain about her 9 hour shift. I understand being tired from working a long day, but she was outright rude to my friends and I. If she doesn't want to work there, she should just quit. There is no excuse for being rude to customers and humiliating them in front of other shoppers. I've never had such a poor experience at a supplement/fitness-oriented store before, and this was definitely something I didn't expect. I'm relatively new to using different protein powders and pre-workouts during my routines but came in wanting to look around. The older lady that was working asked if I needed help finding anything and I responded "no, just looking around." A few minutes later as I was looking at some pre-workout I was hit with "you have no idea what you're looking at, do you?" Normally if this was in a friendly joking manner and guidance on what to look for afterward I'd be fine with it, but she was dead serious and even seemed annoyed I was there in the first place. I responded "no, but" and was cut off by her aggressively telling me that I should just let her help me. I called in asking if there was any vitamin k in stock and the lady who answered said they do. I was asking about the price and amount and it was so hard to hear her but she sounded so unamused and rude when i asked, but I didn't think much of it. Once I got to the store and mind you I was in a rush; I asked the lady if she can find the vitamin k for me since there are so many other vitamins on the shelf. She replied saying "aren't you the one who called?, I said we do" in a rude tone and proceeds to go grab it and give it to me. I went to go pay and asked if by any chance they have a smaller bottle she just looked at me and did a weird grin and took the bottle to scan with no response. She also cheated me with the price. During our phone call I asked her about the price. She said it is $12 something. I also checked online and it said $12 too. I noticed on the receipt when I got home that she charged me $16 for it (including tax). She was just so rude for no reason and that was so unprofessional of her. read more

I've been to several GNCs in the past and this one is probably the least satisfactory. They've had a lot of turnover, particularly the last year or so, and there has been a very noticeable decline in service. They used to have a pretty knowledgeable person there who could give advice and information in terms of supplements and brands. There is a lady there now who not only seems to know nothing in terms of supplements, but her general attitude shows she doesn't want to be there and that customers are a burden and annoyance. Doesn't help that she's a smoker and often reeks like an ashtray. I found out that most GNCs are franchises, and I think this lady is the new owner. Anyway, the products here are no different than any other GNC, so I recommend going to the one on Carmel Mountain if it's still open. I have had a much better experience there. I only go to this one if there's a sale on something I need. read more

I used to have great experiences going to this GNC until recently, in October i tried to return Performix pre workout with my receipt i had bought days before and the older woman working there threatened to black list me from returning anything at GNC ever again just for returning something i had just bought. Today 12/8/17 i arrived at their store at 10:45am and they were closed even though their store hours said they would open at 10am. I waited for about fifteen minutes and tried to call the store hoping someone was in the back but no one picked up. A Rep for a supplement company showed up to visit the store while I was waiting and called the store manager, apparently someone switched shifts and then had a scheduling conflict.
