Although I wanted to be a hater, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed exploring Erewhon…read moreand guzzling down the strawberry glaze smoothie. It is a bit surreal being in a grocery store where the mean/median/mode price of something is 10x what it'd be at a normal shop. There's a parking garage right next to this location, but there was also a good amount of street parking nearby. Staff was very friendly! I got an 8 oz. jar of the Summit Trail Mix, which I really liked! It's not too salty and the dried fruits complimented the almonds so well. Enjoyed it so much that I kinda wish I opted for the bigger jar. Also, on top of the already steep price, there's a $3 bottle deposit. Since it was my first time here, the cashier let me know that you can get your deposit back if you bring the bottles/jars back to the store. After making my trail mix purchase, I got the strawberry glaze smoothie. My smoothie was ready pretty quickly. I'm not a big strawberry-flavor lover, but I really enjoyed this smoothie. It was the perfect refreshing drink for hot weather and walking around. I also felt very fitting and pretentious taking sips of my smoothie while strolling around Melrose. I definitely have to go back next time I'm in LA.. to get my bottle deposit back of course..

Look, I debated whether this even deserved a review. But here we are…read more Erewhon is less a grocery store and more a lifestyle statement for people who want to be seen making lifestyle statements. The smoothie bar line is populated roughly 80% by people who saw it on someone's feed, cannot afford this on any kind of regular basis, and are here purely for the content. I include my daughter in this demographic, and I say that with love. She wanted the smoothie. She got the smoothie. Twenty one dollars. I watched her face carefully as she took the first sip. She is a good sport, I will give her that. The dedication to maintaining a positive expression in the face of what can only be described as expensive, vaguely flavored pudding of mysterious ingredients was genuinely impressive. You could tell exactly how much she loved it by how enthusiastically she offered to share it with everyone in the family. She did not ask for it back. Not once. I had been expecting $21 to produce something that would recalibrate my entire smoothie reference point. Instead it tasted like someone blended wellness buzzwords into a cup and forgot to add flavor. Crossed off the list. The hype machine is real, the smoothie is not. At least I now have an opinion based on actual evidence rather than someone's Instagram grid. My daughter has already moved on to the next thing. As she should. Was gonna be 0 stars - but its not allowed, so I added the star, as the service in this place is great and they are all very friendly. The lines are horribly long, and the place gets really crowded around the smoothie area - so if you are not in line, roam the store and stare at all the items that you will never want to buy at the prices they are listed at. Great thing was that we were headed to the Grove - which has some awesome places to eat in the farmers market, and we were able to refresh the taste buds there - along with some much needed retail therapy for the girls. NO PICS AS I DO NOT WANT TO SPREAD THE MADNESS !!

It is a scan on a small machine at the front entrance of the store. The workers are also friendly and attentive to help direct you on how and where to validate. I called the store to check if the coffee bar was open, and it was! If you're coming in for just the beverages, I recommend calling the store because the coffee bar can be closed randomly and quite frequently. Despite this, the drinks from the coffee bar are so delicious and affordable. I got a small berry chantilly matcha with oat milk, which was only $5.25!! What a steal in this economy. Just this time, the drink made a bit too sweet for my liking, but delicious nonetheless.

It's nice knowing that there's a legitimate great grocery store nearby. On Tuesdays, rotisseries chickens are 2 bucks off, and that's enough to feed me for another day or so. They have a Friday deal on whole pizzas as well and I routinely see sports on in the bar they have as well. For Valentine's day, they'll always have deals on roses and usually, on any holiday, the store will be decked out in bunnies and eggs for easter or green and what not for St Patty's Day. I LOVE GROCERY STORES AND RAINBOW ACRES IS THE BEST ONE I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!! I absolutely love…read moreexploring grocery stores; each and every one is unique, has different deals, a different aesthetic, and select food. I like to walk around in them for fun all the time. So... take my review seriously!!! I tried almost all their food and can give a detailed rundown on each one. They have amazing, amazing, amazing food made with love here and employees that are incredibly kind and funny. They're welcoming and you can tell they really enjoy working at Rainbow Acres and want to spread good vibes. Their food is made in house, from scratch, exactly what it is. No food dyes or processing. Just fresh, straightforward food for a good price. RAINBOW ACRES MADE ME SHED A TEAR. I was so incredibly ecstatic to find an healthy, grocery CO-OP near me. The smoothies are great, they sometimes have samples. They're all delicious and they also can be paid with EBT. Their guac and chips was actually the best I've ever had from a grocery store. The guacamole had enough salt and lime, like... whole foods and chipotle guac was PUT TO SHAME. Well-seasoned, super chunky, cilantro, red onion, tomato, mmm, and those chips were actually fresh tortilla chips. So crunchy and light. So yum. God. Their sandwich was insane. Slices and heaps of chicken breast for double the price of a sprouts sandwich and quadruple times more tasty. Don't second guess it, just get it!!! BBQ chicken and ranch salad was insane. I ate it in like 10 mins and my stomach was bulging. When you see it, it will be irresistible. The grilled chicken is marinated and covered in a sweet bbq sauce and their housemade ranch is seasoned deeply, comparable to wingstop's ranch. Crunchy lil tortilla chips and crunchy salad with some roasted corn. Every single thing in that plate had its own flavor, unlike the prepackaged slop at other stores. However, it was close to $20... The fruit tart was FRESH and yummy, a tad sweet, but all the fruit was incredibly quality. The crust left a little to be desired, but great nonetheless. Their hot deli food is great too. We got a parm crusted chicken breast and it was very juicy and flavorful. The samples were great, even their curry is packed with flavor. Their turkey chili was insanely hearty and delicious, thankfully not too salty. chili mango is the best my boyfriend claims he's ever had. immense selection of unique canned and bottled drinks. They make their own green smoothies and juices in glass bottles, but there's also local branded magnesium teas, adaptogens, sparkling waters, etc. LOTS AND LOTS of vegan options. Great selection of teas and medicinal herbs and pure oils meant for the skin. I picked up some grapeseed oil and snacks. Some of the prices here are cheaper than whole foods, but some are more expensive. I really love Rainbow Acres, but some of their prices can be expensive. However, when factoring in the quality, freshness, and how the food is SIMPLE AND CLEAN AND HOPEFULLY AS ETHICAL AS IT CAN BE, it justifies the prices. The employees are always helpful, so it does help to imagine that the higher prices go to them as well. I'm really happy that this place exists. It's not pretentious and makes clean eating accessible for anyone.

Actually- I stopped I'm once for vitamins and didn't realize the full layout... make sure to take a stroll down every nook & cranny so you know what's available. My most recent experience was wonderful. Even thought it was New Years Eve, I was still able to find the ingredients I needed. Erin was especially resourceful in helping me boogie around the market and gather the items I needed in a pinch (the caviar my friend brought over that eve wouldn't have hit the same without this stop lol). If Whole Foods, Erewhon, the Farmers Market, and the Co-Op of Santa Monica had a reasonably affordable baby... it would be named Rainbow Acres

Still, they need to train their people. I've been in the service industry for over 30 years. I 1000% know what exceptionally poor customer service is. And this place's deli department is absolutely that! I have NEVER had consistently poor service anywhere! It's only the deli and meat department here - especially deli. It's a problem. I ended up at Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins' Mid-Wilshire location as a parking hack for an event I was attending across the street at All Season Brewing. I made a couple of passes on the local streets with no luck, so I entered into their inviting large parking structure that they apparently shared with other businesses, and went inside to scope out the joint, and out of some guilt, made any kind of purchase as a sort of payment for parking. Would this odd experience leave any sort of lasting impression on me!? PURCHASE Larabar - Various Flavors ($1.29 x5): Among the five flavors I purchased (e.g. Cashew Cookie, Banana Bread, Pecan Pie, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Cocoa Coconut Chew), my favorite was the pecan pie and how it truly represented this Thanksgiving dessert but in a handy packable bar form. I actually enjoyed all of them and this brand as a whole. If you knew me, I always had some kind of granola or nutrition bar on me as a quick snack option or substitute while I was on the go. Each bar filled me up like those Snickers commercials and normally held me over until my next full meal! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=9IpWA5iKRMcDT1xMuGCIkg SERVICE I casually roamed throughout the store as I went down each aisle as if I were casing the joint without anyone asking whether or not I needed any help (which was fine). I finally found something that wouldn't cost me too much and knew I liked it, so I scored. The young man at the checkout counter was chill, rang my items up, and when I asked him about parking validation, he easily handled that for me - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) I believed they shared a parking structure with other businesses in this complex and validated your parking if you shopped with them. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of parking along the main drags of La Brea Ave. and 8th St., respectively, and all surrounding side streets, if you were lucky enough to find an open spot. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE This was a smallish grocery store with every inch seemingly maximized. The aisles were a bit snug, while they appeared to have a decent deli and prepared section. There was only one checkout area, so this truly felt like a local neighborhood version of their much larger stores such as the one I've shopped at before in Echo Park. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large surrounding windows while many electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs nor any background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL For the ultimate reason that brought me to Mid-Wilshire's Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins location, I gave it two thumbs up! And, for the items I settled on purchasing, another kudos. However, this place wasn't exactly for me nor was this particular location. For all of the health food nuts, I'm sure this was perfect for them; however, the closest I got to this would be Trader Joe's and maybe an extremely rare trip to a Whole Foods. The product mix again appeared to be limited due to the size of this store, the prices were a tad high based upon my standards, and the service was straightforward which I was fine with. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $8.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
