Rough start but good food…read more It had opened the week before, and there are kinks to work out. Workers were king of bumping into each other, running around, not one steady at register, kept changing. The ice wasn't working, the worker there was complaining about it to me. Though workers knew what to do in their roles mostly, they were not professional at all. Seemed like nice people but no smiles, didn't speak well (English was their first language), some looked sloppy in really oversized shirts, hair disheveled, etc. Greens options looked good, rice was good, braised lamb was pretty good, steak though cut into very small pieces was good. Important to say that when you order two different proteins, you are charged for the 2nd one. The seasonings on all proteins seemed moroccan, the grilled chicken was spicy, not just plain grilled chicken. Seasonings seemed repetitive to each other. Not a huge fan and I really like moroccan food. Sauces were good - tzatziki was great, good hummus, special feta was good. Prices are pretty high, like Boston prices, wish the prices were more prominent, like when buying 2 proteins, didn't know it would be doubled, thought the one serving was split into 2. Inside seating is like eating inside a pizza parlor which was fine. It seemed clean and new. Outside seating is plentiful and nice. Many were sitting outside. We would go back in another month or two. It's a good options. Wish they had the grilled vegetables for a choice on the protein. They simply didn't have some things because they are new.

I was looking for vegan-friendly options near my hotel, and this spot was conveniently close by. The menu had so much to choose from: bowls, handhelds, drinks, desserts, and more. I don't usually order iced coffees or teas, but the Blueberry Cloud Matcha sounded too interesting to pass up. It came out beautifully layered, with whipped foam on top, matcha in the middle, and blueberry syrup at the bottom. I noticed some people using straws, but I drank it without one, and it was delicious. The foam blended into everything perfectly while still keeping those pretty layers. My bowl came out soon after and was just as nicely presented. I especially loved the whipped sweet potato, which was such delicate touch. The bowl was also very filling, with lots of fresh, hearty ingredients, so I couldn't quite finish it--but it was satisfying and delicious. I visited late in the afternoon, around 3pm on a sunny Friday, and the cafe was still packed. There was plenty of seating, including cozy corners and brighter areas near the windows. Overall, it felt peaceful, relaxed, and very much like a community hub. If you're visiting Salem and looking for a vegan-friendly spot, this is definitely worth checking out.

After being a customer for many years I moved to RI and on occasion would come back when visiting. Noticed the menu has been through lots of changes, I miss the "raw" aspect of it. Yesterday was super bowl sunday and I ordered over 100 dollars of food. I would say it was "okay" but the wait was super crazy. We ordered online 3 hours ahead and still ended up waiting another 40 mins for it. The pizza is no longer on a homemade raw base it seems to be on a typical packaged crust. It wasnt what I was used to from this place but it wasn't bad. The mac and cheese was really bad; The macaroni wasn't cooked and it had no flavor. The nachos were very good but super soggy because they were probably waiting for the other foods to be cooked . My sister liked her bowl and I liked my wrap. I'm not a local so I can't say "bring back the spring rolls and the raw based pizzas etc" They do what they need to do to survive.

It's in a great location in downtown Beverly with a large parking lot behind it, so parking was easy. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the mushroom arancini. The calamari was the strangest version I've ever had, mixed with jalapeños, arugula, tomatoes, and marinara sauce placed underneath. The combination didn't really work, and I wasn't a fan of the sauce being on the bottom instead of on the side. The arancini was better, but still odd. It was served over some kind of Alfredo sauce, which again felt unnecessary. It seems like this place really likes putting sauce on the bottom of dishes, and it didn't enhance the food. The real highlight of the night was the drinks. We both ordered espresso martinis, and they were honestly the best espresso martinis I've ever had. There were several other cocktails that looked great as well, so we'll definitely be back to try more drinks. Overall, the food was underwhelming and didn't meet my expectations. I wouldn't come back for the food, as their takes on classic dishes just didn't work for me. That said, if you're looking for great cocktails, Soma is absolutely worth it, especially for the espresso martinis. Get dinner elsewhere in Beverly and stop by Soma for drinks!

So we made sure to try it out for dinner. We didn't make reservations and you need to. So we sat at the bar. The bartender- Sean was friendly! He made our last dinner night in Salem great. I wasn't a fan of the sangria but I'm not a drinker, but he made my daughter a virgin cactus margarita and she loved it. We sat with 2 others at the bar and they were a pleasure to talk to as well. It was a stupid burger, stacked 7 inches high with a wooden stake in it to keep the idiot burger from toppling. They do not serve fries here, you get just a sprinkle of potato chips- literally 15 tiny chips. $23, by the way. The burger was cooked well done and the meat had no flavor, the special sauce sucked and the tomato and arugula was sloppy. The patties were regular burgers, not smash burgers. The server told be to smash the entire burger down to make it a smashburger- WTF??? It all fell apart as soon as I took the wooden stick out as I knew it would. I had two bites and that was it. I let the server know I didn't like it and she was personally offended and told me "everyone loves our smash burger." Just bring me the check and leave me alone. Completely ridiculous!!!!! It was clean, so two stars. Find anyplace else to eat and you will do great.
