The staff is very friendly and caring and due to the language barrier, whenever they dont know what is bothering my mom they will call us so that we can talk with her and find out if there is anything that they can do to make her feel better. They always engage the residents in different activities, for instance, they decorate the Christmas tree together, draw, plant vegetables, hold music shows, paint vases, etc.... I can't say enough good things about this place, how effectively it is managed by Adrienne West and her team, how beautifully decorated . . . and how I'm treated like family although I'm the "daughter". The care team was excellent and supported my mom well past the time other places might have suggested she go into a nursing home with her Alzheimers. And to add to that - I live in California and they were constantly in touch with me to keep me in touch with anything and everything going on with my mom, far beyond their responsibility as a retirement home - because its NOT a nursing home. So in short I would not go back to this location and I would tell people to stay away! Outside this person at the front desk was nice. But I still would not go back and I told my office that also. But when you leave-- BEWARE -- your loved one will be subject to their whims. My grandmother has been there for over a year and her mental health has steadily declined. Worst of all, she is a devout South Asian woman who has followed her religious faith all her life. One of the teachings she abides by is to not cut her hair. WITHOUT her permission, WITHOUT advising her, someone at this facility decided to cut her hair. She was devastated! When the manager found out, they vowed to get to the bottom of it. Haven't heard back from them in over six months. All this from a centre that is advertised as "culturally sensitive". Places like this exist to offer expertise that families alone can't provide. They shouldn't needlessly add to the suffering.
