I went here for a bob hair cut. I was butchered. It looked so bad I had to make an emergency appointment with my stylist from my hometown. I was embarrassed to go to work. Photo on the left is complements of gloss. Photo on the right is my hairdresser from home who thankfully fixed it. Before being cut at gloss, Krystal assured me the bob hair cut was her specialty. I showed her multiple picture examples and she appeared 100% confident that she could give me the look I wanted. Wrong. But she was a very nice girl. read more

Gloss Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Newark, Delaware

Was visiting from out of town for a wedding and needed to get my hair styled. Saw this place had good ratings and reviews, so decided to make an appointment. Receptionist was friendly and offered me something to drink while I waited. Haley was my stylist, and she did a great job! Gave me loose curls/waves for a super cute look. Clean salon, reasonable prices, on-site parking along side of the building (no need to pay for metered parking). read more

Gloss Salon - Hair styled for a wedding - Hair Salons Near Me - Newark, Delaware

I booked Gloss salon for our 10/12/2019 wedding. They did not disappoint. Everyone in our group looked amazing. I was obsessed with my hair and makeup. Emma did my makeup and Tonya did my hair. I couldn't be happier with the experience. I reached out to them somewhat last minute after a trial I had didn't go exactly as I had hoped. They were able to fit us in and everyone looked and felt amazing. I attached a few photos from my photographer (and a selfie to show you my makeup). I cropped the one photo so you can see the back of my hair. If you are looking for a salon to do your hair or makeup for a special occasion, I would not hesitate to book gloss. They are amazing. read more

I left feeling sad. I am no stranger to a blow out. I've had several in several different states at several different locations. I showed my stylist a photo of my last blow out as I discussed that I wanted it replicated- volume and curls... the ideal blow out. She agreed and commented on both, saying how great my hair was for a blow out.... and don't I know it. But I left there with my hair as flat and straight as though I had done it myself. And to mention, when I booked online for one price, they tried to charge me a much higher one, saying that at some point I agreed to the higher... let me assure you I did not. So, while I wanted to love this most convenient place for a blow bar close by my work and house, I just can't. And I most certainly will never go back. read more

I have gone to this salon for almost a year with just getting lash extensions. I have really enjoyed two of the lash technicians, where they were extremely nice and always did an amazing job doing my lashes. The last time I just went, I booked an appointment with another technician. She took over 20 minutes to actually greet me, and supposedly finished my "hour slotted" lash appointment within 25 minutes. I complained to the manager, where all she did was write my name down--and I STILL PAID the $55. No one has called nor attempted to act like they cared. The picture attached below are my lashes after 4 days after the appointment. They are messed up so bad--and I wasted my money. I only had nice things to say about this salon until this horrible experience. read more

Gloss Salon - Lashes 4 days after appointment - Hair Salons Near Me - Newark, Delaware

My hair dresser was extremely sweet. However, the cut and Color turned out so bad that I had to go back the next day. After that, I came home and played with it and it was still bad. I have an appointment with the manager in a few days. Honestly, I'd rather have my money back and go somewhere else than go back, but they aren't giving me that option and I can't afford to pay another $160 to fix this. *UPDATE I went back and saw Tateum. She fixed everything. My cut and color both look better. Not 100% what I wanted, but as close as possible after my original disaster. She was very understanding and kind. My hair still sucks, though. read more

My gloss team did an amazing job with my wedding. I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup, and everything held up the whole day/evening. The team was prompt, professional, and flexible -- I wouldn't have wanted anyone else by my side on my my big day! I also had my eyebrows done a few days before my wedding, and they have never looked better! No exaggeration! read more

Gloss Salon - Thanks, Gloss! We all love bad blonde. - Hair Salons Near Me - Newark, Delaware

I went here after two unsuccessful bridal trials from my current salon and let me tell you, Taylor was a godsend. She was able to keep a curl in my hair (which my hair isn't curl resistant) and style my hair exactly how I envisioned for my wedding. She also recommended hair extensions and was able to highlight them matching my hair color exactly. I really love that Gloss with come to your house with 3 or more services and it was great for my wedding day. I would highly recommend Taylor and all of the gloss gals. It is pricey, but it seems that every salon is pricey these days. Thanks again for allowing me to be relaxed and feel beautiful on my wedding day. read more

This was sent to Bethany Keith, one of the owners of Gloss Salon(s) after a botched haircut, an even worse attempt to fix the mess that was made of my hair, and a shampoo that was not done properly. Thankfully, Ms. Keith chose to refund my money to me. On 4 January, Sarah cut my hair. I was very specific about what I didn't want her to do to my hair when she cut it. It was to be blended: no ridge lines. She blew it. On 11 January, Nikki attempted to fix the disaster that Sarah left. She made it much worse. I paid $48 for what will now take at least 6 months to grow out, and cost me 4" of length to reshape it. I went so far as to have my hair washed and blown out by Emma. I failed to ask how much this would cost in advance. My bad. Emma has no clue how to shampoo hair and scalp properly. I ended up having to clean my scalp myself while she stood back. That cost me $34. When you charge me $48 for a shampoo, cut and blowout, and then charge me $34 for a shampoo and blowout, it means that your haircut is worth $14. And that is what your haircuts are really worth. I would not recommend this salon to anyone who actually cares what their haircut looks like. read more

I see Lauren and absolutely love what she does with my hair. Her color work is beautiful and her cuts are always top notch. I go between styles constantly and we are always able to make my newest love work for my hair, which isn't always easy. I use the BB Bar as well for gel manis and really like Lindsay. My manis last about 3 weeks and still look nice when I go in for the next polish. read more

Awesome service! I loved the person I got BUT I don't think a haircut should cost $72. I wish they offered student discounts or something for UD students. read more

I went there several times for cut, color or both from Tonya. I gave two stars because she never messed up my hair but she made me wait increasingly long times until the last time it was 20 minutes before she even came out to greet me then she disappeared again for 15 minutes. It took her 30 minutes to mix my color. I was there 2 and a half hours for a cut and partial highlight. When she was with me she spent most of the time talking to the other stylist and he customer. If I want to be ignored I will stay home with my teenagers. Very disrespectful. read more

My gel manicure was very messy and every single nail discolored in LESS THAN A WEEK. My nails were pale pink and every single one has turned slightly orange at the tip, and I know it wasn't from anything I've done. So many nails have chipped and broken, many of them breaking a little the DAY I got my manicure. I do not work with my hands or treat my nails roughly. I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of this manicure and will not be getting my nails done at Gloss again. read more

I couldn't find a Yelp page for the Gloss Blow Dry Beauty Bar (located at 77 East Main Street in Newark), so I figured I'd post on the main salon page. I know it recently opened. My mom was throwing me a baby shower at Caffe Gelato this past weekend and I wanted to do a little something extra with my hair. I booked an appt online using the Pingup application, which was a breeze. Lindsay did an amazing job taming my thick, wavy hair and she gave me exactly what I was looking for. They offer some of their own Gloss BBB products, so I purchased the Miracle Treatment, which has worked great so far. Best of all, my blow out lasted 3 days! I wish I could duplicate it at home, but until then, I will go back to Gloss BBB next time I have an event in the area! I also got an eye make-up and lash application with Liz, who also did a great job. There was a misunderstanding about the price but they rectified the situation, which I appreciated. I highly recommend the Gloss BBB and wish I had one closer to my home in CT! read more

Such a great hair experience! My color was wonderful and Krystal was so great to work with. Thank you so much for my new look!

Lindsay is the best hair stylist I've ever had, including at home! She listens so well and executes what you ask for flawlessly! My hair color is always perfect and she makes my appointment so easy and quick! The salon is so cute and always clean! The girls are so friendly and the prices aren't bad, either. The people here know what they're doing! I recommend Gloss BBB to everyone. read more

I've been to the Wilmington location several times and always had a great experience with Brittney. When I saw Brittney was completely booked for the day I wanted, my friend recommended the Newark location on East Main Street and recommended Lindsay and said she loved the blowout she did for her, so I was happy to see Lindsay had available appointments. Lindsay did a wonderful job. I got the Gloss Signature Blowout. Lindsay was very friendly and held great conversation with me the entire time. She took her time and made sure she walked me through the process so that I knew why she was doing it. My hair looks awesome for my Christmas party in DC tonight. I highly recommend this salon and the Wilmington location. The owner, Jay, is also wonderful. read more

I visited the Gloss salon off Main St. by the Newark Natural Foods. It was my first time there, and I had a great experience! I received a color and a blowout blow dry by Emma. I wanted to go bright red, and she knew exactly the color to use. It turned out great! The staff is super friendly. Usually I don't converse much with my hairdressers because I'm a little shy, but I felt really comfortable with Emma and the staff. I'm definitely going to go back! read more

I actually had my hair cut done at Gloss in the City (Wilmington), but couldn't find that location on Yelp, so I've used the Newark location as my check-in. I recently grew my colored hair out and am now gray. To do so, I went extremely short in order to avoid the tell tale growth line. I've been trying to put together a new style to go along with my new gray hair. I definitely did not want what I call the typical "granny gray" cut but I seemed to keep getting just that cut via a few different stylists. My appointment today was with Natasha (she's new to Gloss in the City). When I first sat in her chair I nervously pleaded with her to just trim my hair in a way that I could achieve a workable style while I let my get some length to it. She noticed right away how nervous I was and calmly assured me she'd give me a nice cut/trim. She totally delivered!!! I am thrilled with the direction my new cut is taking! Thank you, Natasha. I will definitely be making a return to your chair as a regular. read more

Always so happy with my services! Jillian is fabulous and so kind. I could tell she really put care and so much attention to my cut today. I felt comfortable and at ease knowing they were being careful and taking the steps to follow covid procedures. read more

I had my highlights and haircut done today at Gloss with Emma and wow, she did a terrific job! I love the color and she was sweet and patient. See, I came in the door anxious as I had had a couple of bad hair jobs this past year and my hair looked brassy and unhealthy. Well, today that all changed! I walked out of the salon loving the new do and feeling more confident. THANK YOU, Emma! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because when I called to make an appointment whoever picked up was quite unfriendly and rushed. It made me second guess whether I should go in or not but well, I am glad I did! read more

I got my hair cut at this salon a couple months ago. The cut was okay, I wanted to take off about 4 inches, but my stylist kept reassuring me that she wouldn't go to short, despite what I asked for. I ended up walking out with little more than a trim. After searching through alternate salons, I decided I would give gloss a second chance out of connivence. I called to make an appointment (10:30AM) and there was no answer after many rings. An hour or two later I called again and was instantly put on hold for over 10 minutes before I hung up! That's unacceptable service, especially for a average salon. read more

I have been going to Gloss Salon for about two years. I go to Lauren, and she is a charm to work with. I get both haircut and color with her. I have nothing but for love for Gloss. My stylist/color guru is Emma. I've been a client of the salon for almost 16 years and Emma has been perfecting my coiffure for almost the entire time. I have presented her with the craziest of color schemes and she has NEVER let me down. From blond, to burgundy, fire engine red, purple, fuchsia and blue, she does it well and has never had an issue. Over the years all the ladies of Gloss have been awesome. Friendly, professional and top notch hair care. 16 years should speak volumes. read more

Lauren did an amazing job on my hair color, and wedding hair! She knew exactly what I wanted and made me feel so comfortable. Nikki worked absolute magic on my wedding day makeup, and my bridesmaids. I never felt more beautiful. My mom and sister hate wearing makeup, and she was able to do their makeup and make them feel comfortable and absolutely beautiful, which meant a lot to me. If you're looking for people to do your hair and makeup for your wedding I highly recommend both ladies. They were so fun to have around before my wedding! They even traveled to Bethany Beach during Hurricane Joaquin and all the flooding, so I could have hair and makeup on my wedding! They ROCK! read more

Gloss did on site makeup for my friend's wedding and she looked amazing! I called to book them for my wedding, and they said they wouldn't travel the 1 mile to my hotel because i wasn't getting 3 people's faces done. I have no bridal party. I offered to pay extra, and they said no. I still decided to book with them, but after thinking about it, decided that on my wedding day, I didn't want to run around to differen't places. I wanted everyone to come to me. I called again to confirm that they would NOT come to me to do my makeup. It was confirmed, and I canceled my appointment. They do good work, but even when I offered extra money, they still wouldn't budge from their policy. I get it, but I will just go somewhere else. They could have made money on an easy job. read more

We used Gloss for in home wedding hair and make-up and were so happy with their service! They came right on time and were happy to work with a small party. They sent two people to work with a five person wedding, so it was a great ratio with no time pressure. They were flexible and worked with each person on the style they wanted. They were friendly and fun to have in the home. They are not the cheapest option, but we thought it was worth it for the convenience and flexibility. My only word to the wise is that they have multiple locations, and I initially went to the wrong one. read more

Absolute nightmare. I went in to get fusion extensions done. After asking for an all over color of pastel pink (which the stylist and i agreed too) she only did streaks of pink which made me feel like a little kid but in her professional opinion i went with it. She then curled my hair as to hide the fact that she did not layer my hair at all. As the curls fell out i had one long mullet.. i looked like a cheap 80s rock star. To make matters worse everyone told me they could see the tracks at the top of my head. After speaking with two liscenced hair stylists from a friends recommendation they told me my fusion tape extensions had been placed way too far up my head and way too far forward. And that this girl did not have experience in this field. They dyed my hair a darker pink to hide the top, and layered my hair. NOW MY EXTENSIONS ARE FALLING OUT. I got these done 3 and a half weeks ago. I contacted the salon about a re fund and was given my money back for an extra pack of hair i wont use (since clearly i'm not coming back) but now they cannot re attached the 2 that have fallen out and fix the others that are hanging on by mere threads without a charge since i had work done somewhere else. I have over $1000 dollars invested and have literally spent nights crying. I work in the service industry and have been so polite about this whole thing but this is absurd. I have never been treated like this. I leave for vacation Friday and i'm thinking about cutting off all my hair and doing a pixie. Over priced, with inexperienced service, unobliging in their mistake, please do yourself a favor and avoid this place for extensions. read more

I am an older person. I have gone to this salon a few times and have not been satisfied with my cut or style. But the thing that bugs me the most is the last two times, either my stylist was late getting there for an early morning appointment (1/2 hour) and the haircut was terrible. Today, I thought I would give them another shot, so I made the appointment for 1:30. I was there five minutes early and told by the young man at the front "someone with be right with you" No one ever came out after ten minutes, then twelve minutes, no "I'll be right with you" no nothing, so I walked out and drove down to the other Gloss location and was seen right away by a very sweet young lady who is now my new stylist. This is not a doctor's office, it is supposed to be relaxing to go to the salon, not a waiting game - you lose! read more
