Found Pam on Facebook and choose to try a travel agent for our solar eclipse cruise on discovery princess. I am horrible about remembering to email people late at night, and was always surprised with how quickly she responded. She helped us get the perfect room on a sold out ship at a great price, and we had a great view of the solar eclipse. She was honest with us, and direct about what was needed, while letting us call the shots. Once again, Pam Cheek and Mary did an outstanding job getting my cruise arranged. They did an unbelievably wonderful coordination when we were offered a once-in-a-lifetime offer of a "move over" by the cruiseline. We were in unknown territory but felt like we hit the lottery, and they were there to guide us every step along the way from securing our cabin on the ship, arranging the airport-port transfers, to coordinating the change in our air reservations. Sydney Greene was our agent and did an amazing job booking our honeymoon in April. Throughout the entire planning process Sydney answered all our questions (there were a lot of them!) We had a budget we wanted to stick to, certain areas we wanted to research and travel at specific times. Not only did she do the research and bring us back multiple options but she was responsive and answered all the questions and concerns we had. From pricing to hotel transfers to food reviews, room options, typical guests (young, old, partiers etc.) we were looking for romantic and stay at a reputable resort. Sydney delivered with advising us to go to Excellence Playa Mujeres!! The resort was impeccable, staff attentive and always so friendly, the food/drinks had variety and Our room/suite was spacious and romantic. Excellence pulls out all the stops as far as their nightly entertainment too! We were beyond impressed. On the day we were scheduled to fly by to NY we came into an issue checking into our flight. Sydney was able to be reached and suggested calling the airline because on her end it was showing up as confirmed (yet on the app it said contact rep at airport). Slightly annoyed- we contacted the airline. I was "randomly selected" so Thats why I wasn't able to check in online. So our flights reservations were still valid, just had to go through extra security at airport (eye roll) but hey it happens! No biggie! We were in search of a travel agent to book our honeymoon following our wedding in summer 2021. We wanted someone that was familiar with booking during covid, and could handle all of the logistical details while abroad. We were very excited to use Heather and her business as she comes very well recommended (on both Yelp & Google). However in this post-covid world, what we received as service from Heather was entirely disappointing. We were specifically requesting that all of the local logistics would be coordinated, such as airport pickups, transfers, and excursions. This was not the case, as almost all of the details fell on our end to manage, specifically: - Summary of documents for which we needed to bring to St. Lucia. Traveling and entering the country is very document intensive and we had to collect this information ourselves. - No airport pickup scheduled. We had to schedule this directly with the hotel the day prior to arrival. - No hotel transfer scheduled or details. We had to schedule this. - Helicopter service for end of trip airport transfer was cancelled via company. No follow up from Heather and we had to schedule our own transportation again. We had to request for our refund, which went unresolved for two weeks until we had to follow up again directly. - Excursions that we requested to be enlisted on (Heather offered to sign us up), were never scheduled. We followed up as well. They were at full capacity by the time we got to the resort and we we unable to enjoy those excursions. - Hotel confirmation numbers were sent to us for only 1 of the 2 hotels, so we entered the country and got to our first hotel without any of our hotel details, confirmation or room type. We simply wished there was more due diligence and proactivity from Heather, for which we got none. We had socialized these pains with the numerous of other honeymooning couples and it was clear we were not being taken care of as we should. Pair that with the fact we were asked to pay an upfront fee of $50, we would recommend anyone to learn from our mistake and shop around a bit more. A lot of great agents now work remotely and we are excited to be planning our next trip. read more

I recently finished a three-week trip to Japan during which most of my travel needs were filled by an expatriate friend who lives in Japan. The ancient former capital of Kyoto was the only city on my itinerary which had so many opportunities for tourism that my friend an I thought that an organized tour would greatly enhance my experience. Though it represented a relatively small sale, Heather, owner of Globe Getaways dove in to finding the best possible tour of Kyoto for me. Even though she hadn't much experience arranging services in Japan, Heather found the best possible tour for me. The tour she arranged involved a private local tour guide who gave me more than my money's worth. This was a tour which featured so many things that the average tourist in Kyoto would never have an opportunity to see - a real cultural experience. This tour was not for the faint-of-heart, since it was a walking/train-riding tour, and we probably wore off sixteen miles of shoe leather in two days. That said, Heather found a number of options which would be more appropriate for folks who might not want to walk such distances. I think that Heather's find of this tour was the highlight of the touring portion of my trip. I give her and Globe Getaways the highest possible recommendation, and am sure that if you use her services, you will come away from your foreign travel feeling as I, that my visit to Japan was the best travel experience of my life partly due to Heather's expert help. read more
