AVOID BOIZELLE AND ERIE! We have had homeowners insurance…read morewith Boizelle since 2004 and car insurance with them for several years longer than that. Today I got a call from them saying that our homeowners insurance was cancelled and that we are currently exposed without insurance! They said that two notices were mailed by Erie to our home but they didn't receive payment so they canceled our coverage. We have always faithfully paid our premiums when bills have come for the last 20 years. I don't know why we didn't receive their notices in the mail but I told Boizelle that it is a horrible policy to not receive a phone call about this BEFORE TAKING THE STEP TO CANCEL OUR POLICY! The first phone call was after they canceled our policy! We certainly would have paid immediately if notified by phone that it was necessary to do so. I would have even been OK with automatic payment via our credit card in order to stay covered. Bottom line, they said that to get coverage again we'd have to start from scratch by getting one of their people out to our house and drafting up a policy as if we were new customers. This is a boneheaded policy. Being left uninsured by surprise is a big deal and a poor way to treat a loyal customer. I know that there are better insurance companies out there that wouldn't have such ineffective practices. At least I know some good questions to ask other potential insurance companies before I give them our business.

I went to Travelers for the same base policy, added more coverage and am still paying less than State Farm. Fast forward a year after cancellation...I got a bill for my homeowners insurance and found out that they ended up charging my mortgage company for my premium last year after I cancelled. This is fraud and theft. Tried calling Armando and of course he never will answer his phone, talking to customers is only at his convenience. Now I have to fight to try to get my $500+ back and try to make sure they don't charge me $600+ this yea. According to StateFarm customer service manager, it seems like Armando did not follow through with paperwork on his end to cancel the policy, absolutely poor service. I recommend going with any other agent or another insurance company altogether, StateFarm cares more about their celebrity endorsements than providing customer service.
