I am reducing from 4 stars to 1. If you are thinking of getting in this program and you are a JFK flyer, you might want to think again. My past two trips the machine wasn't working, first time it didn't spit out customs receipt and ICE agents gave me a hard time (why me!?) Second time the barcode reader was broken...actually three of them...Had to line up for twenty minutes along with my fellow pissed-off-Global Entry-members...and solution? ICE agent's good ole' manual data entry, and ...part of my data got erased from the system! So I had to wait additional minutes. ICE agents insist I'm in the system but machine keeps showing I'm a homeless, well with such high tax in city I am about to be homeless soon, thanks for letting me know Mr. Robot! The system worked only once at JFK. DFW and ATL were flawless. So i must assume the JFK has poorly maintained machine...or new mayor knows I didn't vote for him. Anyways, be aware the system is not perfect at JFK and why not just line up at ICE regular line!? ...because Global Entry ia actually slower than a human. read more

One word description: Lovely. Everything was just lovely. Parking by Terminal 4, easy to find location across the diner inside the terminal (that metal gate has a swinging door), very friendly staff/officers, and best of all super quick process. We were done under 30 minutes with parking, walking, doing the whole process and leaving the terminal. A+++++++++ If everything in NYC was this smooth and friendly =] PS Parking under 30 mins is $5, over is $10. We left at 31, quite annoying. read more

Located at Terminal 4, this Global entry enrollment center is conveniently located right at the entrance of terminal. I took the Air train from Jamaica but you can also take it from Howard Beach. At the stop for tram, you just go downstairs and it's to the right with a sign pointing out to sign your name and appointment time where you go into a waiting room and they take a copy of your passport. Was in there for maybe a short 3 minutes and the interview time can vary, but I was surprised to be on my way after only a brief 5 minutes! Very gracious officers and simple process. read more

Super fast, super easy and friendly officers. If you hate waiting on immigration/customs lines once you arrive to the U.S. from traveling abroad, which are obnoxiously long then this is for you. Yes, it costs $100 to apply but it lasts 5 years. Children no matter the age have to apply and pay the fee too if you plan to go through global entry with them. Applied, paid and got an email about 10 days later telling you whether or not you're conditionally approved. Scheduled an interview online and waited no longer than 20 min once inside. The officers talk to you, you get fingerprinted and boom! You wait for your global entry card to arrive in the mail. This is great if you often travel internationally. Plan to use it soon so we'll see how good it works. read more

I had a great experience having my Global Entry interview completed at the JFK office, and I am so glad I was able to schedule my appointment here. Originally my appointment was scheduled in DC for mid-November, but I had a flight landing in JFK on November 3rd at 9am. I'd been checking daily since my application was approved, but there weren't any openings that would work with my timing. I happened to check that morning and there were appointments available at 9am. Lo and behold, we landed right at 8:30am. Since I had only carry-on baggage, I switched my appointment time while sitting on the tarmac, and hauled my butt to Terminal 4. I arrived at 8:55am, signed in at the podium, and waited. First they took my passport and handled some paperwork, while I watched a video in the waiting room with the other applicants. Once I was called, I was asked some basic questions, finger printed, and walked through the kiosk. The agent conducting my interview was great. While I wasn't nervous, per say, he was very friendly which helped put any worries I had at ease. I received my approval email while waiting on my Uber into the city. The only issue I had at all was actually finding Terminal 4. I arrived at the C gates, which was apparently in Terminal 2. Upon departure, it wasn't immediately clear what terminal I was in, and everyone I asked would either ask for my boarding pass (which I didn't have, because I had just gotten off a plane) or would tell me the wrong way to go. They didn't seem to know where the Global Entry office was, even when I would say I just needed to get to Terminal 4 or the Air Tran in that direction. At one point, I was following one direction, but then was turned away for not having a boarding pass. I finally was told I needed to exit, walk down to the transportation area and follow the signs to the Air Tran and Terminal 4. I eventually found my way, but cut it close to my appointment time. No harm, no foul, but definitely was a little difficult to find my way from another terminal. read more

I was a little doubtful about the short wait time when I walked into the waiting room and saw 2 adults, 1 young adult, and 2 teenagers waiting but they took the entire family within 5 minutes and a minute later, a second officer appeared to interview me! The process was very simple and straightforward. I believe I was in and out of the office in less than 15 minutes! Took an international trip this week and had extremely long layovers at JFK (on both legs). I did my research before leaving home. I had this trip coming up and my TSA pre check is expiring in a week. I applied for Global Entry 4 months ago and although I check regularly, the next interview appointment near my area is in 2023. I figured I would walk in and wait during this trip because I had plenty of time between flights. Before leaving terminal 5 to go to terminal 4 at JFK (for the in person interview), I called the office at terminal 4. I was assured that there was no need to take the walk because upon arrival from my (international) flight 5 days later, I would be able to interview upon arrival. I made SURE to ask about their hours and availability. Additionally, I made sure to tell the person from the office that I would be arriving at 11pm (or later). She again assured me that as long as customs was open, I would have the opportunity to have my interview. I arrived tonight from my flight and I again have an 8 hours layover. I followed the BLUE line and eventually made my way to the front of that line. The customs officer was in a rush and told me that he did not see an approval under my name. I was pulling out my confirmation email but he cut me off and instructed me to stop at the secondary screening location after baggage claim. After getting my bag I headed directly to the secondary screening area only to be told that they were closed. At that point I was not allowed to return to where I stopped initially. After struggling to schedule an appointment earlier than September 2017 at SFO, I decided to schedule an appointment here that coincided with my March NYC trip. There was an appointment available 3/23 at 5:45pm which worked with my scheduled flight to JFK. The Global Entry Office is in the Terminal 4 arrivals hall. Once you reach the entrance, there is a clip board that you sign in on. Afterwards, make a left to go to the waiting room. I got to the Global Entry Office early at 5:30pm and waited about 15 mins. The process was really quick. The interview took about 5 mins and included basic questions on what you filled out on your online application and a photo for your Global Entry ID. About 20 mins later, I received the approval email. I received the card in the mail about a week later. Probably the most efficient government processes I've experienced! read more

After you get off the airtrain, take the elevator down on your right, then walk towards the main exit, and you will see a shitty currency exchange place near the exit. Turn left and you will see the big blue building Central Diner at the other end of the arrival hall, go towards it, and the Global Entry office is right across from it. My appointment was at 8:45AM, got there at 8:31, wrote my name down, went to the waiting room and played games on my phone. Around 8:40 a worker came in and collected passport and driver's license/ID from a few of us. Around 8:43 I was sent over to one of the interviewers. She took my picture, took my finger prints(press on the screen with enough pressure or it won't do), and then let me go, no questions asked. Super painless experience, would come again. read more

The process is very fast - I was in and out of this place in less than 20 minutes, including wait time. The office is not very conspicuous, but you'll see it if you are outside the diner and looking at the baggage carousels (from this point of view, it's to the right of the carousels). They ask you to confirm a lot of basic info like your address. If there's nothing additional they have to check, you are outta there! It'd be more convenient to go to the office in Manhattan, but that one books up very fast and is always full. However, it appears that many people who fly a lot will schedule their appointment here at JFK right before they have to fly out or right when they come back, which would be very simple. Pro tip: the parking lot (I think it's blue?) closest to the office costs slightly more than lots in other terminals. If you have the time, parking elsewhere and taking the airtrain is cheaper. read more

It was a fairly smooth process. The initial approval is quick BUT getting an appointment for the interview can take months. Guess it depends on the time of year. Only complaint it's in the airport and to park for one hour is $10. That was a bummer because it took like 15 mins. So I paid $10 for 15 mins. After traveling to Dubai and taking approximately an hour to get through security and customs I decided I had to sign up for global entry. Arrived a couple of minutes before my scheduled interview time but the entire process was quick and painless-- in and out in less than 5 minutes, fingerprints and all! Totally makes up for the long online application process. The office is located in JFK terminal 4, right across from the Central Diner. There's an open gate in the barricade right outside the entrance to the office, or an opening by the Air Train stairs around the corner if the gate is latched. * Quick immigration entry at JFK?!?!?! Wow! * Ok, I love visiting New York. But getting off the plane and rushing to the immigration area to be surprised with a LONG slow moving line is always a drag after a long flight. Global Entry to the rescue. When I flew in this week, I got to waltz right by the long line and follow the sign that says, "Crew" instead. Hooray! Walked right up to the Global Entry kiosk, inserted my passport, filled out the on-screen declaration form, put my fingers on the reader, and received an immigration card with my name on it. Got to skip the line! Best part is the price. It is free for NEXUS members! Woo hoo! Love it! read more

Don't be afraid, the whole process is quite painless. If you are driving, go to the Terminal 4 parking lot and park close to passanger pickup A and B or 104-107. When you enter the building stay against the right wall or you will have to find your way across the metal divider. The little entrance is across from Central dinner and opens at 7 Am sharp. This has to be the fastest experience ever. If you are traveling by airtrain, make a left when you get off the train. Take the escalators down. Once you get to the arrival area, make a left. Please look out for central diner as the office will be in front of it. According to the instructions, you would have to bring your conditional approval letter. Fyi, i didn't bring and they didn't ask me for me. An officer asked me for my passport and drivers license. This process only took 2 mins and I was out. read more

Mac. D. clearly described well of the program and I also give 5 stars on the program but why 2 star? I went in for the interview with my background check if I am fit to join Global Entry program. I chose my interview time to be 3 PM. It was done after I sent my application and received an email to chose the time by going to their website. I took A train from West 4th St Station. It took about 30 minutes to Howard Beach - JFK Airport Rockaway Line). Then another 15 minutes to the airport by AirTrain that was adjoined and was very easy. You use your Metro card (takes off $5) to get in. When you arrived to Terminal 4, go down on escalator down to lower level and on your right you will see bathrooms (man and woman). Make a right immediately after the bathroom and on the right, almost behind of bathroom, you will see the sign "Global Entry". I found it the location of the office to be kindly located. I spotted an officer standing by Global Entry office. "Is this to have an interview?" "Yeah! Just wait in the room" then, he continued talking to a man he was talking outside. When it became my time to have an interview, the waiting room was with another two man, dressed in a suite but not tie, came after. Then, this lady rushed in and went into the interview room and announced her arrival without waiting in the waiting area. Where I sit, I could see the interview room. The room had four tables at each corner. There were two officers with a client and one officer was just sitting around doing much and other desk was empty. I assumed it was for the officer standing outside chatting with his friend. After the officer saw this lady with her bouncy body walked in, this not-doing-much officer suddenly got up with his wide eyes and showed up to the waiting room and called in for next client. "You come in!" said to a lady with no hesitation. Even there were three of us waiting before her. So I said, "Excuse me officer?" "You may not know but I arrived first!" After I said it, I thought it wasn't a good move on my side. I was about to have an interview. The officer glanced and asked with a louder voice. "What time is your interview?" "3PM" The rest of us were all 3PM. "What time is your interview?" the officer asked the lady. "...it was 2:45PM...." Immediately the officer asked her to come in and announce that her appointment was before all of you. Conclusion: If you are woman and you are going to be late, unbutton your shirt and reveal your assets, change to a high heel and put your hair down and wear heavy makeup. I can guarantee you that you will be seen before anyone and even if you are late. My U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer that gave me an interview was a very professional officer (woman) and everything went smoothly. There was another officer also spoke quietly to respect a client confidential information. Those officers had an integrity and respect to their clients. read more

I am not sure how everyone else got in so quick. I had a interview at 7 am and showed up 650. I signed in and waited until about 740. They had already asked for my passport but I needed it back to go since I would miss my flight. I asked them for it back and they said they would interview me. They never confirmed my name or asked me any questions then handed me SOMEONE else's passport and said bye. When I asked what happened to mine they seemed confused and still thought this girl who looked like me was my passport. The officers were so incompetent and rude. None of them were seeing anybody from 7-750 when I left. They were all gossiping about other people applying saying things like "these rich people who just want to travel". Avoid! read more

Earlier this year, a Customs agent at JFK suggested I look into the Global Entry program as I travel internationally multiple times a year. After a few months, I finally got around to creating an account and applying ($100 application fee). The process was pretty painless, though it takes a good 15-20 minutes to complete (you have to recall countries you've been to within the past year, address history, employment history, etc.). After a few weeks of waiting, I found out I had the conditional approval, and made an appointment at JFK for the interview. You watch a 10 minute movie on loop in a little waiting room and wait for an officer to call you up. I can't remember exactly what they asked, but it was a pretty benign interview, no tough grilling here. One thing that I was not prepared for was that you have to take a picture for your Global Entry card. I had just gotten off a plane from CA and was tired, crabby, and stale from the long flight. I received my card in the mail and I don't even look like the same person; it's by far one of the worst ID pictures I've taken in my life! Even a TSA guy did a double-take when he saw the difference between my picture and actual self...pretty embarrassing. I was able to use the Global Entry process within a month or so of receiving it. I avoided the huge line at JFK, went to the Global Entry kiosk, scanned my passport, scanned my fingers, took a picture, and bam! Done! But then I had to wait for my luggage, which took forever...I noticed that people who were on my plane who had to stand in the Customs line had already finished and were waiting for their baggage along with me...so does that defeat the point of being able to get through faster? Maybe...but it's okay because along with your Global Entry privileges, you get a Trusted Traveler ID number which you can enter into participating domestic airlines, allowing you to go through the TSA Pre-Check (don't have to remove your shoes, light outerwear, or liquids during TSA check) on domestic flights. read more

Came here on a Saturday for our appointment. We arrived about 15 min before our appointment time. There was a family before us but when we were signing in, I saw their appointment time was much later than ours. Despite them arriving before us, the global entry people kept to the appointment time slots and we were called next. All we had to bring was our confirmation appointment printout and passport. We sat with one of the officers and within 10 minutes, we were done! They take your finger prints and that's it. I would highly recommend this office. Only down side is paid parking. If you can find free parking, that would be most ideal. read more

Definitely was easier to find a slot that suited my schedule here vs at the lower Manhattan location. I actually arrived to my appointment about 10-15 minutes late (Friday rush hour traffic), but it fortunately was okay. Signed my name at a podium and sat in their waiting room for only a few minutes before being called by an Officer. Fingerprints and a picture and I was on my way- in and out in 15 minutes. wow, I've never had such a smooth trip to a government agency! Scheduled my appt online, got an email within a week. Forgot my password to the GOES website but was able to call the office with the phone number listed on Yelp and they were able to look up my appt time by my last name. The Amex Office in Manhattan was either closed or all booked up so I drove over and paid $8 for an hour parking and walked over to the terminal. The actual office is next to the Delta Skymiles counter across from the large exterior windows. You walk into a little room on your left and sign in with your name and appt time and they come in and call your name when they're ready for you. The TSA employee who interviewed me looked pretty bored and just asked me about my job, but I overheard everything going on next to me and the other employee was more thorough with asking about each trip and reason for each trip. They confirm your email address, you look into the camera, then they write down your pass number and tell you you'll receive your card in ten days, but it's valid immediately. Some people got it done right before their flights. The pass is valid for 5 years and you can go into the office and update your info when you get a new passport after the old one expires. The Global Entry comes with Pre TSA Check so you don't have to take off your shoes, coat, liquids, or laptop on domestic flights only. Pretty much all of the airlines, except Jet Blue. The fee is $100 and if you're an Amex Platinum cardholder they will reimburse you on your next billing statement. Happy Travels! read more

I arrived 5 mins before my appointment. I parked in short term parking at terminal 4. A quick 3 minute walk and I was in the Global Entry office. I signed the sheet by the door and within 2 minutes my name was called. A lovely agent brought me to the desk, explained the program, checked my documents, took my prints, and I was out. The entire process took 5 minutes. I would have rated this a 5 but for the fact that you have to pay for parking. It was only $4 but there should really be some kind of validation for Global Entry purposes as there is no other place to park. read more

First time I've used Global Entry at JFK, and boy am I happy I had the service. I was in the back of the plane so I could have a row to myself to sleep in on a flight from Istanbul, so I would have been at the end of the customs queue. Instead, I had 0 wait to use the kiosk. Ended up having to wait awhile for my luggage anyway, but it's much more peaceful to sit and watch a TV show on your tablet than stand in a dumb line. read more

Remember the good ole days of flight, before would be terrorists started smuggling explosives in their shoes or underwear, or whatever? Back then, you could saunter onto a flight with 5 minutes to spare. With your shoes on. And full bottles of shampoo. Air travel was A-OK. Yeah, those days are gone forever. The closest you can get? Global Entry. So worth the $100. And, for the federal government, surprisingly efficient, even today, in the Trump, no government is good government, era. Pro tips: 1. When you apply online, you are informed that you must keep checking back to the website on your status to find out next steps. Not true. They will send you an email when your application is processed and you can sign up for an interview. 2. I was prepared to wait months for an interview. In fact, I was notified within 10 days. Maybe I just got lucky, who knows? But it may not take as long as you think. 3. The online instructions said I needed to bring my passport, drivers license and application number. Nope. Passport was all they asked for at the interview. 4. The Manhattan office was booked for months, but the wait for an interview in the JFK office was just 3 days. Woop woop! 5. The office is in Terminal 4, ground floor, to the right, across from the diner, to the right of the baggage carousels. There's just one smallish sign announcing its existence. No one seems to know where it is. It literally took me longer to find the place then to go through the interview process, which was super fast (like 10 minutes). 6. If you are driving, prepare to pay $10 to park in the lot or the garage across from the terminal. 7. If you pay for Global Entry with certain credit cards, like Sapphire Reserve, they will reimburse you the $100 cost. A nice perk. 8. Global Entry includes TSA Pre but not the other way around. So screw TSA Pre, because it costs $75 so for $25 more you get it all. read more

Husband and I were in and out (from the time we entered Terminal 4 lot) in 25 minutes on a Thursday evening. Parked at 107, entered and the Global Entry office is right around the corner from the men's bathroom, across the Diner. My husband and I signed in, sat down, were called in less than a minute and were interviewed together. We were asked to confirm that our names, address, email, and employer were correct. We were only asked to provide our passports. Picture and fingerprint taken, provided us with our Known Traveler Number, and we were set to go. Interview took approx 20 minutes; if it were me alone probably 10 minutes. No need to wait for the card to come into the mail, just add your KTN to your reservation/at check in and you're good to travel the next day. Such a wonderful experience! read more
