The expedited screening and no fuss customs saves so much time and makes you truly happy to be home. The online appointments at JFK are readily available, can snag a spot in less than 30'days and you get approved on the spot. So you can use your precheck right away. Your sentry card wills be mailed so that is a little waiting but you only need that if driving across the border. The staff at JFK are friendly except for the obnoxious employee who checks you in. He is not in uniform and wears a yankee cap. So unprofessional in attire and behavior. If you are accompanying an elderly parent or family member he will likely not let you escort. They used to all you to sit in the waiting area and provide assistance until the interview but I guess now it is luck of the draw. read more

This location is a piece of cake. It works so well that travellers in and out of terminal four come here because it's easier than their own city. We already had TSA precheck and elected to upgrade to Gloabl Entry for our travels out of the country. My wife filled out all the necessary information on line and within a couple of weeks we were notifed that we had to come in for our interview. We parked outside the terminals and were able to get on to the Airtrain to Get to Terminal 4. The nutshell version of the experience is that wait to get in from the line was the longest part of the overall process. 15 minutes in line and 5 minutes with the agent and boom.... we were done. After flying in from Costa Rica earlier this year and spending two hours at customs, I made the decision to get Global Entry in 2024. I finally applied last week and went in for my appointment on Friday. It honestly was a piece of cake! The parking is super convenient, cost me $10 in the short term lot, immediately adjacent to Gate 4 (which is where the office is). The officer guarding the door was incredibly professional and friendly. He has a powerful yet very calming presence and really set a great tone for the environment. The experience of clearing the border is hit or miss and I've now done it 17 times here at JFK. Sometimes my flight arrives and it's lightning fast with no queue. But most of the time lately, the queue is a cluster. The latter is what happened when I arrived from JFK yesterday afternoon. After the long march from the gate around the corner and then down the ramp, there's a line at Global Entry. But that's the line for the people who have already done the kiosk. You need to squeeze around THAT line and then get a kiosk to do your photograph and passport. Once you're cleared, now you get into the line which snakes back to the ramp and was starting to merge into the line with the people who did not have Global Entry. Of course, there's no one here from CBP to explain this to anyone. While waiting in queue, I overheard at least two passengers who had their kiosk run out of paper. You can't just do the kiosk again. They were trying to flag down an officer for help. I've always had Global Entry and if you travel internationally more than once  a year, it's a tremendous time saver. But even with it, your time to clear the border is random. Sometimes, 5 minutes. Sometimes, an hour. It's way worse if you're in the regular queue and forget it if you're not a US citizen. This is your first interaction with the United States as an arriving passenger. It's a mess and it needs significant improvement. Hence my change from five to two. For me, the entire process was four days. Applying, paying fee, receiving conditional approval, interview and acceptance. I lucked out getting an appointment for Saturday, September 3rd. My original interview was scheduled for November 1st, I was able to reschedule for September 19th and finally got an appointment for the very next morning. Overall, this was a painless process. The Global Entry agents did a seamless job. I arrived on time and was out in about 15 minutes. My appointment was at 7:30pm on a Thursday night. Once I located their office and sat down at one of the agent's desk, they proceeded to confirm a few basic details on my application. Afterwards, my fingerprints and photo were taken and the TSA agent asked if I had any additional questions. Overall, he was cordial, efficient and professional. Things to know: A. Upon entry into their office, sign your name on the clipboard at the podium. (Don't be surprised if they tell you to bypass that step as they did with me). B. Make sure you have your Passport, Drivers license and a print out of approved application (I did not bring a copy of my approved application but I did have a copy of it saved on my smartphone. However, they never asked for it.) But it's better safe than sorry! BASIC TIPS: Tip 1: Don't get lost trying to find their small, almost hidden office. It is exactly opposite of the door entrance to a huge red colored diner/cafe. (Check out the video, I uploaded). Tip 2: If you drive and park in terminal 4, any parking section in lots 100 to 105 is excellent. It's literally a 2 minute walk to the Global Entry office. Tip 3: Get to your appointment on time so that you can leave the parking lot within 30 mins to save an extra $5. After 30 minutes, they'll charge you $10. This location is amazing! Especially thanks to Neal; not all superhero's wear capes! My global entry got approved on my way home from Mexico in the Dallas airport so I did the interview through customs. I noticed 3 weeks later when I checked my portal it still said interview needs to be scheduled. I then reached out to the trusted travelers program and the person I spoke with told me to call the Dallas airport. I called and no one picked up, called again and I got someone on the phone. I explained how I still didn't get my global entry card and that I went through the airport on June 25th, did my interview through customs. The person mentioned that they had no fingerprints and or photo of me and made me seem as though that I'm the crazy one (clearly not true I was ready to go into great detail of the guy I talked to and what I was wearing etc.). Also that I would have to do another interview, which we all know trying to get one especially in NY is months in advance that you have to plan/schedule. So then I finally got someone higher up to explain the situation and that my fingerprints didn't scan correctly, they did ask if I would've be in the area again soon. I mentioned that I don't live in Texas, I live in the nyc area. I then reached out to global entry at JFK and this is when I got Neal! I got him on the phone and explained the situation. He had to call the Dallas global entry to confirm the details, but then said I could come to the global entry office whenever he's working and just ask for him. I scheduled my meeting with him, the Dallas global entry didn't have anything on file (no fingerprints and no photo). I redid all of that when I schedule my meeting with Neal. Despite this crazy experience Neal was super professional, responsive, and fixed my issue right away. I can't recommend this location enough especially because of him! read more

I read the reviews before going for my GOES renewal appointment and was extremely skeptical it would be as smooth of an experience as previously described...But shockingly, it was. I have to say the JFK GOES process (ignoring the major annoyance of traveling over an hour from Manhattan each way) is the smoothest administrative process I've ever experienced. More than deserves the 5 stars. As previously described, take the escalator down from the Terminal 4 Air Train station to the ground floor for Arrivals and the small, nondescript Global Entry office is right in front of the Diner (and near the Delta desk). Arrived at 7:40 AM for an 8:30 AM appointment. I was crazy early but wasn't sure how difficult it would be to find the office...it wasn't. I am the product of 1. a starter marriage when I was 24 and NOT ready to get married 2. an uncontested divorce on handwritten forms from a book I bought at barnes & noble ... that resulted in middle name ambiguity that has plagued me for almost 20 years at this point 3. a remarriage, and a hesitancy to change my name because of 1 and 2... but ultimately after I had two kids and had used my "married name" socially for 2 years I changed it 4. a (perhaps misguided?) attempt to "reclaim" a middle name by using my Hebrew name as my legal middle name 5. And I don't feel like I should have it revoked for deigning to change my legal name to match my family's, after waiting a decent amount of time to make sure the marriage would stick. This location is on terminal 4 Arrivals the lower level. Park in lot of arrivals like everyone else advises in sections 104 to 108. It was sort of full but no worries found a spot on 110 and walked towards the middle to the cross walk to get to the terminal. As soon as I walked in I saw the empty diner and across the Global Entry Office. They asked for my passport, appointment time and asked me to walk in to take a seat in waiting room. Within a few minutes I was called. I got there at 12:05pm for a 12:15pm Sat appointment but was out of there around 12:18. Only 3 other people in the waiting room. They just ask a few questions to verify identity, addresses, where you work, if you have ever been arrested. They take your finger prints, picture and that's it. When I exited the lot they asked how I was paying and I said EZ Pass and they said Ok go on thru. Easy Peasy! The other yelp reviews saved me time with the tips where to park, where office was located, which terminal etc so I wanted to paint it forward. read more

Me in my head when my appointment ended: "Wait, that was it....? Um, I can leave now...?" Everyone has their complaints and horror stories about the DMV and waiting for hours and filling out lots of paper, etc., and one could argue that the same fate would befall you at Global Entry. Perhaps all of the above, plus a lengthy interrogation in a hot windowless room, where you wonder if you will get dinged for not completely filling out a customs declaration form back in 2015. None of this happens at Global Entry. This is the place you go to for your Global Entry (includes TSA Pre) interview. The office is located in a very visible location in Terminal 4 at JFK. So, no wandering aimlessly around one of the world's largest airports Show up a little early for your appointment, you sign in and then wait for a few minutes. No sooner have you sat down, assuming you will be there for days, you are called in, and you have your interview. It is over in a few minutes and that is it. You are done. My Global Entry card arrived in less than 2 weeks. It is amazing. One note, the interviewer is incredibly serious and they stare at you like they are staring through your skull. Don't crack jokes, sit up straight and answer the questions directly and things will be very easy for you. read more

I booked this appointment (last week of September 2021) 2 days after being approved which was perfect because the next appointment at the bowling green appointment was in January 2022. I took the mta there so it was about a 50min train ride and then less than 10min airtrain ride. Definitely recommend putting money into your metrocard ahead of time so that you don't have to stop at the machines to reload. To get to the office just follow the directions to the arrivals when you get off the train (take the escalator down and then turn right - office is right across from the diner). The appointment itself was very quick- less than 5 minutes since i was already conditionally approved and they just verified my address, passport, picture, and fingerprints. read more

I give credit where credit is due. For a government agency, the people in the Global Entry office really have their shit together. I had a 10:30 appointment on a Saturday morning. I arrived early, since I don't know how long traffic would take. I signed in and had a seat in the waiting room, as per the instructions on the sign. It was packed and I was immediately expecting to be there for 2 hours. Not to worry! Every 15 minutes they called for a new group of people - collected passports first, then called you in to sit with an officer. Fingerprints, questions, photo, then they give you your approval information and you're on your way. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes. I really appreciate the efficiency with which the Global Entry team at JFK operates. It's unlikely I'll be back there since I'm set for 5 years and even if I have issues I usually fly out of Boston. But if you're choosing where to schedule your Global Entry appointment, I highly recommend the JFK location. They had the best appointment availability too. Every other location I checked (two in Boston, Bradley, And RI) were booking at least a month out, but I scheduled my appointment at JFK for the next day. read more

I travel often and standing in the long lines after traveling abroad can get annoying. I invested in Global Entry which is $100 that lasts for 5 years. I applied online and received confirmation of approval in 3 days. Made my appointment at JFK a week later. Things to know... - Sign your name on the clipboard at the podium. - Make sure you have your... 1. Passport 2. Drivers license 3. Print out of approved application (even though they didn't ask to see it, it was required on their website to bring it - so bring it just to be safe). - you will have your photo taken for your ID card, so look decent since you will be stuck with that photo of yourself for 5 years (and yes you can smile for your photo) My appointment was at 8:30am and I arrived early at 8:15am. As i waited in the waiting room, a lady official came to ask for my passport even though I was early. She called me in 2 minutes later. So what happened.... She took my finger prints (don't worry, it's digital finger printing...you're not going to walk out with black ink on your fingertips). She first took my picture. She verified my address. Gave me a walk through on how Global Entry works. Said I'll receive my card in a week and that was it. I was done in less than 10 minutes. Luckily, Global Entry has a separate line and there was no one standing in line. I was able to pass within a few minutes. There was no need to take your shoes off when passing TSA. However, coming back into the USA from Dubai was a different story, separating the women from the men. But I digress, that's a different topic. Another trip I took was on Memorial Day weekend to Disneyworld. The lines at JFK were horrendous. But with Global Entry, it took me exactly 7 minutes from the moment I stepped out of the cab, passed TSA and walked to my gate. Yes ! Piece of cake!!! The online scheduling system is a bit intimidating. Once you set your designated time you arrive and in 5 minutes you're set. Just don't forget your passport nor expect to be seen earlier than your scheduled time. This is located terminal 4 downstairs near arrivals. You have several choices. Public transportation. Park in the day parking lot for terminal 4 ($5 if less than half hour). Or have somebody drop you off and circle around. I can't wait to use this on my next international flight !! read more

I finally got my interview for Global Entry as my interview was delayed due to backlog caused by the extended government shutdown. The process was seamless. I received a 1045 appointment but was there at 10 am. The doors promptly opened at 10am and we were told to sign in with your name and appointment times. Agents set up at their desks and collected passports by appt times in 15 minute increments. First the 10 o clocks, then 10:15, 10:30 and then the 10:45 etc. you were taken to a desk asked 2-3 minor questions had a photo taken and was on your way. I was informed the GE card would arrive in 10-14 business day but your GE was effective immediately and could even be added to already booked upcoming flights by updating your itinerary utilizing your now active known traveler number. As others noted park in the lot and NOT the garage. Lot 105, 106 and 107 are all good options as they are directly adjacent to the location. Once you enter the airport look for the Diner and the GE location is DIRECTLY across from the DINER entrance. The process was seamless and well run and I was presently surprised as most government entities are usually understaffed and lack a proper process. Good luck all. read more

The process here is straight forward. Come in. Sign in with your appointment & arrival times. Wait a little bit until an agent calls you. At first the agent took our passports and told us we would be called in a few minutes. It seems like they take care of some necessary work then they have you come over. You confirm a few questions such as name, DOB, address, etc. Take your photo and fingerprints. You are given your Known Traveler Number which can be used right away for TSA Precheck & Global Entry. You receive a photo ID card by mail within two weeks (Not required for air travel). Some tips I learned along the way: If you have the time (3-4 months before traveling) apply for the NEXUS program. You get screened for USA and Canada so it's meant to expedite things for crossing back and forth over our northern border. It costs only $50 (7-8-18 edit: $50CAD for the Canadian portion as well.) for 5 years, but has the same benefits as Global Entry and TSA Precheck. Global Entry expedites US entry, but NEXUS expedites Canadian entry from US. WAY TO GO if you have time (I didn't). The entrance to the Global Entry interview area is located in Terminal 4 near passenger pickup A. There was a diner inside the terminal and the entrance is located along the back wall. Sign is a bit small so look out for it. If you are parking in the lot it near where we first pulled in (sections 107, 108, around there). Cross the covered walkway to get to the terminal, once in the terminal it is right past the bathrooms (75 feet?). read more

The interview actually takes place here. It's a pretty simple process and the interview is pretty quick. I want to say I was in and out of there within 20 minutes or so. The staff here are friendly and efficient. The entire process took 15 minutes. Thanks to all of my fellow Yelpers for the information about where to go and where to park. Just follow the signs for Terminal 4- Parking lot. DONOT park in the garage. I parked in section 107, crossed the street and Global Entry was in front of me across from the Diner. My appointment was at 7am so the doors didn't open until then. Then I signed in and sat in the waiting room. Maybe a minute later, an officer called my name and asked for my passport and told me to go back into the waiting room. Then another officer called me to sit at an interview station. I was finger printed, they took my picture, asked me where I lived and gave me my Known Travelers Number (KTN)! That's it. I was told that I'd get my card in a week, but I could use my KTN immediately. Just be aware that you don't need an appointment to be seen, but they take people with appointments first, so you may be waiting a long time before you're interviewed. While I was there another traveler had just gotten off of a flight and was told that he could sign up for Global Pre-check. While that is true, the TSA officer told him that he should've applied in the actual terminal where he got off of the plane and not at the office we were in because there were many people waiting who had appointments and they would be seen first. Also, parking costs $5 up to 1/2 hour, after that you'll be paying $10 and up. They take cash, credit, and you can use your EZ-Pass if you have one. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. After being approved online, you can schedule your interview immediately. I did receive an email saying that the status of my application had changed and it was a precondtional approval. I was able to schedule an appointment 2 weeks in advance. This global entry is located in Terminal 4 of JFK airport. Once you are there, the office is right in front of the diner, tucked away, and was a bit hard to find. I did ask around and eventually found it. You'll have to write your name in and then they'll call you after waiting in the wait area. I waited approximately 15 minutes which is much longer than I expected since everybody mentioned it was practically no wait at all. Maybe I just came at a bad time? The interview was fairly fast and not too much interaction, very few but important questions were asked. The officer took a picture of me and had me put my fingers on a machine so my fingerprints can be taken. The whole interview process was maybe 3 or 5 minutes maximum. Every officer seemed courteous and professional. Global entry is good for 5 years, so I'll definitely come back here when I have to renew. They told me I was approved then and there and an email will be sent to me within a few hours, I received the email in about 5 minutes stating that I was approved. read more

Came here for my Global Entry enrollment interview. My only qualm is that it's all the way out at JFK airport. Coming and going to this location required me to travel for hours. The only appointment they had available a the time was early in the morning. I just asked the airport staff where the office was so I was able to find it quickly. The interview itself was super quick. I came in at 7:43 and was out by 7:50. You wait in a waiting room, while they run some information with your passport. The interview itself was just taking my fingerprints, running a background check, and asking if I had any criminal records. Very simple and I was out in a flash. read more

Basically the whole process for me took 30 minutes. It was faster than I expected since the waiting room was full during the evening. I recommend to not be late and to not be too early. My Interviewing Officer was very nice and thorough. Drive to JFK Terminal 4 and exit off the ramp to the Parking Lot. Park at Section 107/108 in the outdoor parking lot in front of Terminal 4 and walk approximately 100 FT towards Terminal 4 and go inside you will see the Global Entry Office is right in front of the Diner. At the time of this review (August 2019), the partial government shutdown has affected the JFK office (the Trusted Traveler website has more information). 1. Parking in the parking LOT near section 107 as everybody mentioned was very convenient. 2. Due to the shutdown, the office was kind of short staffed. Most people, including myself, waited until 30 minutes after their scheduled appointment time to be seen. Despite being with an officer seemed to have had a very, very long day, the interview process itself was still very quick. This location is still convenient, though at least while the shutdown is going on I would highly recommend making an appointment beforehand, and being prepared to wait a while. Despite most Global Entry offices refusing to help with NEXUS cards, I was able to walk in on a Saturday with no appointment, and an extremely helpful officer updated my visa info in the system in less than two minutes. I live in Philadelphia, but did my Global Entry in NYC at JFK. Why? 2 months earlier availability and 5 star reviews--all of which were true. JFK is extremely easy to get to, and the Global Entry office is visible right inside. No search needed. 10:45 appointment, signed in at 10:53 due to snow. Asked for my passport. Called me back a few minutes later, to one of the nicest officers I've ever met (a NY common occurrence). So friendly, so nice, smiling, asked me for basics, did fingerprints and in TWO minutes we were DONE! Global Entry at JFK is worth the visit, no matter where you live. Wow wow wow! I'll be honest, I was EXPECTING a long wait, grumpy employees and was downright dreading this BUT, what I got was AMAZING! First, getting there. Without the help of fellow Yelpers, I never would've known where to go. Best advice, follow the signs for Terminal 4 arrivals. Look for aisles 107/108 in the LOT (NOT the garage). From there, all you have to do is cross the street and you're there! As others have said, there's a diner once you are inside the terminal. The office is directly across from that. When you walk in, the diner will be on your left, down the center is the walkway for the terminal and the enrollment office is slightly to the right. Make sure you go around the silver barrier gate when you enter, otherwise it's a long walk to go around! You sign in and go into a very non descript waiting room. You get called to see the officers and you're done. The officers were so incredibly kind and patient. We had our kids with us and one was nervous (lol) and the other is younger and was super fidgety. The officers put my daughter at ease and the officer with my younger daughter was beyond patient with her question answering. This Global Entry at JFK Terminal 4 is very fast. I been there before on a Saturday and was in & out in 25 mins. Last Sunday , I had a 2:45 pm appoint for my Son and he was done in 15 mins. The tip is if you drive there , park at the "Parking Lot" of Terminal 4 and not "Parking Garage " Its closer to the Global Entry. It is across from the Diner in Terminal 4. Best area to park is around 108-111 lanes and you be close to the cross walk to the terminal and once you are in terminal you should see a Global Entry sign. Arrived a half hour early for my appointment, signed in, and went into a small waiting area full of people waiting for their appointments too. Despite the number of people ahead of me I was still seen exactly at the time of my scheduled appointment. The approval interview process was both efficient and friendly with the Global Entry System explained and any questions I had answered. I left approved, and shortly afterwards also received an e-mail confining approval for my records. The only downside to the whole process was the $16.00 short term parking charge I incurred at Terminal 4. So try not to arrive too early. read more

Alright so I really don't like going to JFK because the airport is huge and I thought I would get lost trying to find the global entry interview center (and I did) but I eventually found it. Let me break it down for future people who are not flying into the airport and would be going to the airport JUST to do the interview: 1. Take the JFK AirTran to Terminal 4 ($5 using your metrocard each way) 2. Don't depend on anyone to help you find the place because they tell you to go to some information desk that doesn't exist on the 3rd floor. Once you arrive at Terminal 4, go downstairs to the 1st floor 3. Make a right passing the bathrooms and you'll see the diner - the global entry center is right in front of it. I arrived at 3pm for my 3:15pm appt, and when 3:15 hit I was immediately seen! This was a super fast experience for me! I was running late because of crazy traffic on the Belt (of course) and signed in 6 minutes after my appointment time. There were already people waiting (11 seats) but after 15 minutes, my name was called and it felt like less than 5 minutes before i was approved and on my way! Fingerprinted, passport, license and letter checked. Took a picture. Millan was nice and efficient and I was done! See you in 5 years! :P read more

My wife and I took the plunge and got Global Entry prior to our trip to Barcelona later this summer. So we scheduled our appointments for Saturday afternoon. I'm not gonna lie, trekking out to JFK on a Saturday is not my preferred way to spend it, but if that means breezing through TSA and a shorter wait to get back into the country, then why not make an adventure of it? Officer Cheng, I think it was, was really nice and welcoming as he directed us to the waiting room. Soon enough we were interviewed, got our pictures taken on a webcam, and we were on our way with our KTN numbers received on the spot. All in all a seamless experience. My wife has already taken advantage of her PreCheck benefits and bypassed a huge line at LAX. As a last tidbit, our pictures on our Global Entry cards came out stretched out. Though it was all good cause we had a laugh with our friend--his was stretched out too! read more

First time doing Global Entry and the process was not as difficult as I imagined. I applied online and received my results within two days! After approval, you could schedule your interview. First, I selected a Manhattan location, but the appointment was over a month away (too close to my next trip for my comfort). So after some debate, I checked JFK airport. They had immediate availability! However, knowing that traffic can be unpredictable I scheduled it for the following day after work. I managed to get there over an hour early and signed in. There is a podium at the door outside of the waiting room. After a few minutes, a lady asked for passports from all individuals who signed in and were waiting. After a few minutes, I was called and I was able to complete my interview (picture and finger prints) within 10-15 minutes. The staff was professional and did their best to process work as efficiently as possible. I had paid $10 for the 1 hour parking- but worth it overall. I don't like crowds but thanks to all the advice on Yelp and fellow friends who are already enrolled, this process was more simple than I thought. I would gladly revisit this office for my renewal if it needs to be in person. They started a new program that allows you to complete the Interview process right off your flight. I am not sure how well that works, but I like that they were not too strict on appointment time. Tips: -Parking right by section 106 & 107 allowed you to enter by the closest door to the office. -it is across the diner and against the wall that is sectioned off by a metal bar; I advise walking on the side closest to the restroom and you'll find the office entrance.
