This is the jerk chicken, black beans and rice. Absolutely fabulous taste!

The food is wonderful! I had the chicken, rice and black beans. This service is outstanding and the owner and service was so welcoming and kind. I I enjoyed the ambiance as well. Nice and casual. The food is affordable. I loved it! I will definitely be eating here again. Thank you!

The #3 bowl - curried chicken with sauteed greens (kale and spinach) and fried plantains. SO good!

SO GOOD. My wife and I were feeling a medley and the advertised bowls looked good to us. The very friendly staff behind the counter offered us a sample of the jerk and curried chicken. Both are fantastic, but we decided to split a bowl of the #3 combo - Curried Chicken with spinach and plantains. Sounds so simple, but it was so perfectly seasoned and fantastic that my wife and I quickly decided we didn't want to share; we wanted one each! I went back and promptly ordered a second bowl. They were kind enough to let me do a mix of kale and spinach and it was superb. For $8 it's hard to beat the value. Next time if I feel like trying a different option, I'm going to grab the oxtail platter but trust me when I say that both the chicken options will not disappoint. Prices are great, service is fast and super friendly, and the food is top notch. Definitely recommended.

Despite the pandemic, Global Cafe has still been open inside the beaver st Market . The service was great and the lady helping us was really nice . The food was fresh and delicious ! I got the jerk chicken platter with jambalaya rice and cabbage and black beans . It was sooo good that I ate it in one setting . I will be back ... probably today lol .

Ordered from new location on East Market St in the Village Green shopping plaza. I called in my order. Lady was very polite, did not rush me in placing my order. It was ready when I arrived. Ordered jerk chicken with plantains and cabbage, and salmon with jasmine rice and black beans. The best salmon! Everything was delicious. I don't like plantains but these were delicious. Filling, had leftovers . Definitely recommend and ordering again.

Jerk Chicken & Jerk Shrimp Combo w/ rice, beans and cabbage. Tasted exactly how it looks: incredible.

If I could give GLOBAL CAFE 10 out of 5 stars, I would because they absolutely deserve it. My fiance and I haven't been to the market in quite a while so we decided to take a quick trip downtown and wander our way around the aisles. When you approach the back quadrant of the building, believe me... you know their presence. The aromas coming out of this place absolutely command your attention. Since we haven't eaten here before, we asked for two small samples: the oxtail and jerk beef. The staff were super helpful and allowed us to get a small taste: It was literally like trying figure out which Barbie Twin you liked the most. We settled on the jerk beef platter and the jerk shrimp & chicken platter. Quite possibly the very best jerk "ANYTHING" we've ever had, ANYWHERE....PERIOD. I don't leave reviews on Yelp very often unless I'm really moved. The food at Global Cafe is absolutely special. The beef literally melted in our mouths and the sauce they cook the beef in...the sauce...how does one describe it? If there were a Nobel Prize for sauce, Global Cafe would 100% receive an invite to Stockholm, Sweden. Just when you thought there couldn't be anything more, a diamond in the rough within a diamond in the rough, they make a homemade ginger lemonade that's not only quite possibly the very best in the world, it just so happens that it makes the very best MOSCOW MULE in the world. Here's the recipe: 3 parts of their ginger lemonade 1 part premium vodka ** mix it 50/50 if you like the mule to kick you back a bit. Splash of seltzer is optional in case you want that fizz in your mule, but I think it interferes with the power of the ginger in the lemonade. Squeeze in a half-lime, mix ... and enjoy. In conclusion, this place is the very best kept secret in York. When we went to pay our bill, a small group of elderly ladies ahead of us had paid for the next meal behind them...in an effort to "pay it forward." We paid for our meal and kept it going ....this place is special.

All the other restaurants were in Philadelphia. I ordered takeout since I was unfamiliar with the restaurant. When I arrived I saw that there were plenty of tables for dining. The restaurant is in a small shopping center with parking. Another benefit since many restaurants near downtown West Chester do not offer parking. The order consisted of Jamaican Beef Patty, Soup Joumou (Squash Soup), Griyot (Fried Pork), Diri Djon Djon (Mushroom Rice), Sweet Plantains, and Fried Red Snapper. Every dish tasted authentic and was delicious. How exciting to know that I no longer have to wait until I visit my parents or go to family events to get Haitian food.

Rice and peas (technically they are beans) you get is plentiful. Many dishes also come with cabbage and black beans (almost soupy) on the side, if you like, at no extra charge. Beef patties are delish, or so I am told :( Before I could try them, fellow diner had already consumed both! Maybe next time. Unfortunately too, no coco bread :( For vegetarians, there are options. Their vegetable stew was quite good. Also got a free sample with order. I picked the brown stew chicken, another tasty. Service very friendly. And takeout nicely packaged.

I am here to do a review!!…read more As I find myself driving a semi-truck, those long stretches on the road always work up an appetite. Since changing my diet and becoming more of a fitness fanatic -- nothing like the Philly Fanatic, but close -- I've been more selective about what I eat. Still, Philadelphia holds a special place in my heart, and when I got off the road and I was craving a cheesesteak. I couldn't find a good cheesesteak spot in the Harrisburg area. I remembered the place off 13th Street, but they no longer sell cheesesteaks and the restaurant has changed. So I switched gears and decided to get some fish instead. It was only 9:30 PM, and At Hookers Seafood & Fish -- an amazing place based off the consistency but it had already closed at 8 PM. Back on the hunt for food, I stumbled across Got Jerk Island Grill and Juice Bar in Midtown Harrisburg. The moment I walked in, it felt like I was teleported straight into the heart of Jamaica. Caribbean vibes everywhere -- lounge chair up front, Bob Marley on the walls, and a laid‑back atmosphere that made me feel like I should've had a coconut water in my hand. I talked to the chef and told him to give me his best dish. He served me curry chicken, rice and beans, sweet plantains, and cabbage. I have to say -- it was the best curry chicken I've ever had. The chicken was tender, cut perfectly, and shredded apart in my mouth. It fell right off the bone, and the curry had just the right amount of spice so you could still enjoy the full flavor of the meal. That's when I knew the chef knew exactly what he was doing and chose the right cut of meat.

I had ordered my food to go & immediately threw it out after maybe 4 bites to give it a chance. plantains are always good so, I ate them. genuinely butthurt about how this place went down, but see ya never I guess.
