I'm posting this review exactly 1 day shy of being 3 months out from my double eyelid surgery. I…read morecan sum my experience up in one statement - I wish I'd done it sooner! I'd debated double eyelid surgery my whole life but got really interested during COVID. I saw some tapes that claimed they could give permanent double eyelids by using for 6 months or more every night. They worked...until they didn't! When the double eyelids stopped showing up one morning, what I did realize was how looser/lower the skin had gotten from the repeated crease tracing and tapes. Not good at all when compounded with how fatty/thick my eyelids naturally are. I also realized how my eyelids were getting in the way. I was unconsciously raising my right eyebrow pretty much the entire day in order to see better as the eyelid was covering so much of my pupil (which is also to say that my eyelashes were basically invisible at that point). I was starting to develop a wrinkle on the right side of my forehead only from this. Given my family has been debating a trip to Korea for a while, I also thought about pushing off getting my eyelids done in Korea. But I didn't want to spend a good week or so of precious vacation time dealing with recovery. Plus, what if something DID go wrong, I wanted a local doctor I could easily follow up with! I booked a consultation with Dr. Chaboki as he had the best portfolio out of all local doctors. This area already has a limited pool so I wasn't too hopeful when I first searched, and was worried I might have to go to NY or CA to find a doctor familiar with Asian eye anatomy. I needn't have worried as Dr. Chaboki gave me the exact results I wanted. I merely wanted my lashline visible and a defined fold. I've heard some doctors push ptosis correction (even in cases where it might not be needed), and epicanthoplasty alongside double eyelid procedures but there was none of that here. After all, ptosis is a medical condition and a whole different procedure. I booked the surgery and took a 1.5 weeks off of work, even though I work from home, because I knew my eyes would be tired. The procedure was easy-peasy, not to minimize anything since it's still a surgical procedure, but it was so tolerable. I had no ill effects (compliance with aftercare instructions is of utmost importance!). I will say there was a big difference at the 6 week mark in terms of healing. A really natural look settled in by then. And now at 3 months there's an even bigger difference and I don't think anyone would be able to tell unless I disclosed it. Very happy with my results and Dr. Chaboki is clearly a master at his craft and he's SO specialized in facial work, it really immediately shows!

I had Microneedling done by a clinic several weeks after that and it drastically improved my skin. I declined her help because she lied some more and tried to blame the microneedling for the damage, which is impossible because the microneedling was done after her office did the damage. To be very clear, the doctor is trying to change her words, but she claimed the Microneedling caused hyperpigmentation that was on my face PRIOR to microneedling. Edit: I see the esthetician who works at the clinic decided to write the clinic a 5 star review in response to mine, calling me bitter and vengeful. Just the fact that they are obsessing over my bad review in August over a chemical peel that happened in January should tell you everything you need to know. Having an employee create an account just to name-call a former customer is incredibly unprofessional. I don't want my pictures posted because I have a right to privacy just like anyone else. I don't like my pictures and info on the internet. Also, they took the pictures before both chemical peels. The second chemical peel was in January. The hyperpigmentation occurred immediately after my face finished peeling in January when I was at home. I could actually post screenshots of text messages that I sent to friends and family back in January and February PRIOR to microneedling telling them how devastated I was that the chemical peel left hyperpigmentation under my eye since I'm not good about deleting text. I went back to see them in the Spring when they reached out offering to fix it, which is when they took after pictures for the second chemical peel. This was in March. At that point, my face had been microneedled and was showing improvement already, so their pics don't prove anything. It's not like I'm getting money or anything from posting these reviews. I just wanted to share my experience. Of course, they are a business and want to protect their reputation, so they do have an incentive to lie unlike me. It's really sad that they have resorted to having an employee write a review to name call me and accuse me of trying to harm a black owned business, despite me going out of my way to support black owned businesses as the daughter of a black business owner. This situation could have been a lot different if they had never tried to blame the hyperpigmentation under my eye from the chemical peel on microneedling that was received after the hyperpigmentation occurred. When they reached out to help me fix it, I was ready and willing to delete my initial review and work with them until they decided to try to lie and now have an employee posting a review in response portraying me as a bitter, vengeful liar who just wants to hurt a black owned business. I don't work with dishonest people because you can't trust them. Instead of obsessing over my one bad review, they should focus on providing good customer service to the current and future clients and leave me alone. Sometimes customers have negative experiences and post reviews about it. That's a part of owning a business. Lashing out and arguing is not the way to handle it. Customers have a right to write about their experiences, good and bad, and that's what I did. I'm tired of getting alerts about them replying to my reviews. I want to move on from the situation and wish they would too. It's been several months. This is beyond ridiculous.

So after reading the reviews for Ritual and following them on social for a few months, I decided to book at appointment for a peel with Victoria. The business suite is located within a much bigger building and upon getting off the elevator on the 8th floor, it was clear to me that many of the surrounding suites include other medical professionals. Upon entry, you'll notice the clinic is pristine and elegant, while also feeling warm and welcoming. Cayla, the patient coordinator at the check-in desk was bubbly and genuine - as a first time visitor, that initial impression means a lot. No pretense, no standoffishness - just a desire to help you to get settled in. I was then taken to the waiting area which was also clean and comfortable, with a few refreshments that are available for guests. Luckily for me, I was only in there for a few minutes before Victoria came to get me. We took a few pics and then headed into the room for my appointment. The room felt very much like a room you may be in for a doctor's appointment - very sterile, bright lights - which of course is a good sign. I then chatted with Victoria about my concerns and needs. She was a great listener as well as a proactive communicator, always educating me as she made suggestions or talked with me about options. It's evident that her top concern is the patient's health and well-being first and foremost, which then guides her recommendations. With the additional knowledge and context she provides, it's impossible not to feel well taken care of, in the hands of a responsible and professional provider. I was also very appreciative of her care and awareness of what treatments would be best for my type of skin, educating me about the Fitzpatrick scale (which I had taken time to educate myself briefly about on my own, but had never had a provider articulate with such mindfulness.) She also was able to balance that professionalism with warmth - which is a rare combination to find. Her ability to make you feel comfortable seems to come naturally and really makes the whole experience not only impactful but enjoyable. It's also evident that she carries a wealth of knowledge and is confident about that (without being condescending.) Overall, very impressed with the business and grateful for Victoria's care. Will definitely be returning in the near future to explore other treatments that will be good investments in my overall skin health and integrity.

Well, these treatments are not "instantaneous" because collagen remodeling takes time, and my skin improvements continue for over 6-12 months afterward. I bumped into a 20 year male acquaintance who I hadn't seen since before I started treatment, and HE complimented how good my skin looked (on a no make-up day)-- that one really struck me!
