We stayed at the Glenora Guest House for 3 days and overall the experience was positive.
Positive Points
- Clean rooms which were big enough (in one case, just big enough)
- Bed was comfortable
- Newly renovated bathroom were nice
- Cooked breakfast was good (no choices in content, unappetising alternatives).
Negative Points
- On the first two nights, we were in a room on the first floor facing the street. Which means that the room was quite noisy in the morning. Even more so since there was a deviation in the road nearby which means that ALL cars and buses in the neighbourhood were passing right outside our window, and making it rattle. (We were moved to a rear facing room for the last night which was nice and quiet).
- The walls are very thin, meaning you can hear the next room quite distinctively. You can hear people talking. I'd hate to think if they quarreled or did other things. Again not helping in the quiet departement. Overall the hotel needs more sound insulation.
- The shower head, in what looked like a newly refurbished bathroom, didn't stay up correctly and made having a shower impossible. In the end we used a face towel to tie it to the post to be able to have a normal shower.
The bonus? It's right next to haymarket station, and so many buses head that way from various places around the city. Easy to get back to at the end of the day! read more
