We spoke with Don, the owner, about having a small existing fence removed before installing the new fence. He quoted that labor would cost $65 per hour and that removing the fence should not take more than 1-2 hours. We were thinking of removing the fence ourselves and just cutting off the posts, but Don said that his workers would dig out the posts. Two men came to work at our house. They did not dig up the posts, but instead just cut them off like we intended. My husband was also helping them with this task and it didn't take any longer than an hour. We did discuss the duration of the fence removal with Don as he told us that his men said it didn't take 2 hours. We said that it really wasn't even much over an hour. Don did compromise and said he would charge for us an hour and 15 minutes. However when we received the invoice we were charged $65 per hour and also per worker. This was never discussed with us as we were quoted a labor cost per hour and not per worker as well. We definitely would not have agreed to pay per hour and per worker as well. Don refused to honor what he originally quoted for the labor. We would certainly never use this company again. We could have avoided the labor costs on the fence removal altogether since the workers only cut the posts and did not perform the task that was quoted to us.

Whenever deciding on a contractor, you also want fair prices, and no surprises, and A2Z did well on that too. We did have a hiccup however, the team made everything right in the end. We have 2 tips that we think can take the business to the next level. There must be a clear understanding between both parties when doing the estimate. This will reduce the need for scope creep in the project. For projects that require cleaning up, you need to make sure there is a plan to remove the trash. You take it with you, or it needs to be bagged in contractor bags to be put out periodically with the trash. I wish your business the best. I have no doubt that they will take these tips into consideration going forward. We will be in touch for the upcoming project.

Contractor sub-contracted the work (without informing me know) and the sub-contractor damaged the walls by using incorrect pressure washer jet nozzle, ruining the foundation of house (knocked out mortar from foundation blocks). Brought this to their attention and they agreed this wasn't part of the original invoice, nor was it the intention. They told me to fix their mistake they must charge me an additional $900 on top of previously agreed upon price. This company does not do they work, they sub-contract it out. Your results will depend on who is available at the time to do the work. There are good reviews from people who have had good sub-contractors come in. There are also bad reviews from people who had bad sub-contractors come in. If a bad sub-contractor damages your property, it will become your financial responsibility to have it fixed.
