Enjoyed another superb dinner at Glenfalloch this Friday evening. This restaurant changed hands in August 2016 and now offers amazing fine dining on Thursday and Friday evenings in the beautiful garden setting. On our most recent visit we chose the 'Trust the Chef' option - three courses for $45 - which is really fantastic value for this level of cuisine.
In addition to the three courses (starter, main and desert) the chef prepares a delightful amuse bouche to get things started. We have now had the three course chef's special three times and on each occasion the food has been wonderful, especially the seafood options. Last Friday the main course was a delicious Asian fusion dish with pork belly, a ginger rosti, mini pork dumplings, kolrabi and augergine topped with mushrooms and it all worked brilliantly together. The starter of monkfish, roasted cauliflower and black-pudding was also inspired. Our desert was a trio of puddings which was also delicious - these guys know how to cook!
The service at Glenfalloch is very good too - polite and friendly and also well paced. The wine list is good value, but a few more wines by the glass would be welcome. I almost forgot to say that BYO is an option too and on Thursday evenings there is no corkage charge.
As locals, we would highly recommend this restaurant. read more
