What a great cafe! I ordered waffles with blueberries, infused vanilla yogurt, and honey. The…read morewaffles were made nice and crispy, and were very filling! I also loved the crispy bacon. We sat in the front by the window which was nice and cozy. They were a bit on the busy side when we entered, but once our order was taken it took about 20 minutes to get our food. It was worth the wait!

Even without yelp, I'd know how popular this place is because it's in all the guides and is a restaurant I'd initially seen and heard about when starting at the university. It's one of the first breakfasts I had in Norwich and is easy to find in the city centre. As expected, it was busy but we didn't wait too long to be seated. The queue ended up being much longer after we finished. There are multiple floors but we were on the ground level towards the back dining area--just a tad bit of a tight squeeze around our table. We ordered three dishes: a granola and fruit bowl to share, the Mixed Fruit & Nut Waffle, and the Waffle House Breakfast (mine, which included a waffle, free range scrambled eggs, field tomatoes and mushrooms, and bacon rashers). While the savoury bits were okay, I found the namesake waffles, and ultimately the plate itself, to be forgettable...or below average at best. With a spattering of other superior breakfast and lunch eateries in the city, Waffle House is not one I'd return to. I know I'm deviating from the general review consensus, but I wasn't particularly impressed with my dining experience and a relative of mine had an even worse meal another time. However, the service was fine, and my dining companion liked the meal (sweet options) and coffee more than I did.

Walking around the lovely town of Norwich, we came across this small bar. It's got a quaint…read moreatmosphere with seating on main floor, upstairs, and outside. We opted to sit outside, but the outside seating area was extremely small. Be prepared to be cramped anywhere you sit as the inside is limited for seating space as well. Nonetheless, the waiters were very nice and attentive. While my business partner drank a bloody mary (he said it was the best he'd ever tasted), I ordered a pint of Adnams Ghost Ship. I like my beers a little on the hoppy side, so this choice was perfect: not too hoppy, but still carries a citrus taste. With a menu heavily slanted towards brunch, I ordered the traditional English breakfast and was satisfied. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly worth recommending to the casual visitor.

We came one morning from brunch and loved the eggs! They do a fine cup of coffee as well. The "American Style" Pancakes where however anything but American Style. Being an American I can say I've never laid eyes on a pancake like that and I've had my share. They tasted nice, but it was essentially a couple scones made from pancake batter. We went back again for breakfast a few weeks later and brought friends from London with us and tries more of the egg dishes, bacon, and chorizo this time which were all stellar. Franks is quickly becoming our favorite breakfast and brunch place in Norwich. This Thursday we are planning of stopping in for dinner to give it a go.

A group of 4 people went to celebrate my Wife's Birthday, we had been looking forward to this day…read morefor months. What we thought was going to be a pleasant meal ended up with 1 meal being sent back for 100% refund as it was oozing blood when it was requested to be well done. At the time of ordering the meal it started going wrong, we ordered 1 Carvery, 1 Castle Platter, 2 Mixed Grills, both well done with eggs flipped. Also ordered 1 Lager, I non Alcoholic beer and 1 pint of Lemonade and Lime. The meal was paid for and I asked how long it would take so that we could co-ordinate the carvery meal. The lady who took our order mentioned to me that there was no egg with the steak!!! She had got the order wrong, so had to dash to the kitchen to correct it, then charge me the £14 difference. At the same time I mentioned the drinks were wrong, that was another error and she poured the correct drink. On to the meal: The meals arrived, my wife collected her carvery. I started to eat the steak which, although undercooked was okay. They I tried the gammon, it was raw, I then tried the lamb chop, I placed the tip of the knife in the middle and it oozed blood. I went to the bar to complain and ask for a 100% refund. The woman at the bar was a little smug and asked how I knew it was bloody as she could not see I had cut it. I suggested she should not doubt my word, but she picked the chop up and squeezed it and asked if I would like it re-cooked. Under no circumstances would I have accepted that back, so refused to eat anything there and got my money refunded. The reason my Son-in-Law did not complain about his bloody steak is that he did not want to make a fuss. To make matters worse, the sausages were still flexible and grey, the peas were poor quality and bullet hard, the roast potatoes were deep fried and hard in the middle, the cauliflower cheese was hard and tasteless. Overall a dreadful meal and at £85 was a waste of money. Now this may have nothing to do with the dreadful meal, but later that day my wife threw her heart up and was violently sick! I have had cause to complain about the carvery vegetables being cold before, it was pretty much the same this time. So, its a big no no and never again from our family - Dreadful in every way, eat at your own risk, but never be afraid to complain and ask for a refund. I always thought that when you go out for a meal it should be enjoyable, even better than what you could cook yourself, but this place really make a bad job all round.

Way over the top prices for undercooked beef and ( the blood…read more soaked my vegetables yuk! ) Tasteless cauliflower cheese and vegetables. You could pile as much as you wanted onto a small plate. I left my mine but took it home for the dog. She liked the bloody beef. Needless to say I will not be returning. I had to keep my coat on as it was so cold too.
