I am adding the report of the results of our renovation experience with GLC Carpentry and construction. I could go into every detail but the results are that the job was delayed and delayed while the costs escalated beyond the price of $125.00 per hour for the team which we were quoted. The acrylic pour for the kitchen counter is opposite of what I wanted and bothers me to look at it every day. Many things were left incomplete and we completed them or will be completing them. My advice is to get a real written estimate complete with time frame and listing of jobs to be completed. Gage is a talented guy however we were left feeling abandoned. BEWARE BEWARE Gage comes across very knowledgeable and busy. But after a week you will see true colors. Once you get a bid he wants 1/2 down before he even starts , then pushes you back. When he starts he constantly wants more money and keeps repeating he is losing money on this job. After some work done he claims he is finished and when you explain that's not what we agreed on , he hemhaws then says that will be more money. Changes the contract midway. Classic money hungry trickster contractor. He is opening another office in Brookings And works southern oregon. Paid him over $18000.00 and then walked away without finishing his work. Told him we wanted our $4900 we gave him for starting the windows and paint and he said take him to court to get it. I am so impressed with this company. I would not hesitate to hire them again for any project. The initial job I hired GLC for sheet rocking/flooring /installation of interior & exterior lights to make my tuff shed into a studio. GLC also secured the building with with special pylons, had gutters put on, & put up numerous shelves. The job was completed quickly. The job site was completely cleaned at completion. The bid & payment schedule was very straightforward. I hired them to complete the other projects I wanted to get done this year which included decks, dry rot repair, & enclosing a car port & a cement floor in the new garage. Hired Gage to work on an ADU for us and install a fence. This fence was leaning in less than a year. Come to find out he put FOAM with concrete in EVERY SINGLE POST. I had to pay another contractor to come redo and dig up every post- cost me more than the fence!! I asked him SEVERAL times to fix the fence before he started any other project and he always had an excuse. The ADU had multiple problems; bad window framing, terrible concrete pour that cause flooding at our back door, massive gap in the roof we had to fix, bad shower pan install- the list goes on and on.
