Unlike much less experienced and profit driven facialists, she strategically targets the highest and best outcome without the fluff or pushing the latest laser. She focuses on what you need, knows that us girls need results...and over time! If your goal is just for date night, ok, but she really understands the aging skin thing and she will not direct you to simply sit in her chair and spend. An added benefit for me is that Karen is known widely for her tattoo removal expertise, which I have never needed, but I did have a procedure gone wrong that left me with some terrible scaring. My confidence had been a little shattered, and by a surgeon! I am certain that unless one really knows their stuff, tattoo removal can leave behind some damage in itself and so I thought ok, who do I trust to fix my scars?! We kind of get one shot, right? Who do I trust to help a falling face?! Very long story short, Covid, changes, time. Karen says Kim, we got this! A staff member, who I strongly suspect had little to no experience, administered tear trough filler after talking me into it. The results were immediately wrong. I asked for it to be dissolved right away. What followed was weeks of runaround. They had me return every two weeks, and with each visit their attitude worsened, especially once I declined their repeated pressure to purchase additional services. I came in wanting a small, natural result. They saw a revenue opportunity. After multiple attempts, they were unable to fully dissolve the filler. I am now seeking treatment from a licensed dermatologist to fix what they could not. The practice is run by someone with no medical credentials, not a physician, not a nurse practitioner, not an aesthetician with any verifiable expertise. The medical authority here appears to be a nurse who seemed undertrained for the procedures being performed. A medical spa performing injectables should be overseen by a licensed physician on site. This one is not. If something goes wrong, and it did for me, there is no qualified person there to fix it. Avoid this place. The consequences can be permanent.

After having a virtual consult I was then put on a regimen of HQ and retinol among other skincare products that were recommended (my skin didn't really tolerate HQ too well) and this regimen seemed to have helped my skin for the time being, but then something horrible happened to the melasma on my face!! My skin has darkened to the point I can barely cover it with makeup ( I literally cry when I look at my face in the mirror because of how dark the HQ has made the melasma on my face. I don't even know how to reverse this damage and I feel so hopeless because now it seems I have to pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars to correct this skin issue that was never this bad. I was told to buy more products which cost hundreds of dollars to now correct this reaction. I wish there was more caution or emphasis on how delicate HQ can be for someone's skin!

She wore a mask and gloves during the appointment, which I greatly appreciated. I was confused on the booking website and booked the wrong service type, but we were able to correct this the day of the appointment after she texted me with no issues. Service: The appointment was for a microdermabrasion facial - $130 for 45 mins. For what it costs, I was a bit disappointed that the appointment, aside from the actual microdermabrasion (~5 mins), consisted more of a 4-5 step skincare routine - applying cleanser, applying mask, applying lotion. Application of the mask and sitting in the mask took up most of the appointment time. Extractions, hot facial steam, face/neck massages were not included. Overall: Reading some of the reviews now, it seems that Yourim is more commonly booked for eyelash extensions, rather than skin facials. If I'm ever in the market for an eyelash tech, I'd be happy to check her out again. For facials, I may have to check elsewhere.
