The selection was very interesting. The glass is all locally produced right there in their own hot shop. There were some very creative pieces. The most creative pieces were the most expensive, however there were plenty of pieces that were not too expensive. Robin the owner was fabulous and explained how my art piece was made. Since the hot shop is adjacent to the gallery, you can watch the artists make the glass art. It is very interesting and there are some beautiful pieces.

Staff were amazing and showed me where everything was and how to find any other information on books or the computer stations they had set up. They even have a fridge with complimentary soft drinks for customers. So many colors!! Frit and color bar everywhere! This is a glassblowing candy store! The scrap area is fun too...,random grab bags of unlabeled color. I bought some of those for fun along with some scrap dichroic glass which will be fun to experiment with. The tool selection is excellent as well, and it was nice to be able to see and hold tools before buying since tools are a fairly substantial investment. If you're using a ride share to get here, just a heads up that they'll probably drop you off and pick you up on the street above the parking lot, but just look down the driveway into the parking lot and you'll know you're in the right place. It was only 5 miles from my hotel, but a 25 minute ride with Seattle traffic at 11AM on a weekday...so plan your time accordingly if you're doing what I did and squeezing in a shopping trip between meetings.

What I love most about Pratt is the instructors are not only unbelievably strong technical instructors but also amazing artists. I didn't just want to learn how to MIG weld, I also wanted to learn about creating a composed sculpture. That's exactly what I learned in Bill Baber's class. Pratt's facilities are top notch! As much as I like their work, I didn't care for the customer service... we bought 3 of their beautiful ornaments at the night market the other night and the guy at the market said to come on in to their shop when ever to check out more items. So I did today... however when I got there I was told that their gallery was under construction and the only way to get what I want (the santa head ornaments) was to order online. When I tried to explain, the women was somewhat rude and proceeded to tell me that all they had was that office space and it was under construction. (trust me, I get it when your day is off and not great, but neither was mine and I just expected more) While the people at the night market on Friday night were awesome, I left this place with a bad impression. I wish she had tried to listen to me and I wish she would have at least let me look at the different styles (sitting by the door) so that I could feel comfortable About ordering them online and paying more then I did for the others I bought. Beautiful workmanship, sad that my experience wasn't better.
