Pros: 2015 honda CRV's rear window was broken and the scheduling/service was fast. Cons: Received the car back with paint damage on top of rear hatch. The explanation i received was, "whoever did the paint job in your car did a poor job. We use compressed air to any car and never had this kind of damage before". My reply was, "I bought it brand new from the dealer". Their reply was, "It may be a poor paint job with whomever painted it in the factory". So I will leave it for you readers to draw the conclusion. Now the disappointment: I chose this place because it is connected to my insurance and a glowing 5 star from yelp. But upon receiving the car,THE TOP ROOF IS FULL OF BROKEN GLASS. I informed front desk staff and she had it cleaned by the technician. I did not receive any apology. The paint damage I have no way of knowing the truth. But the broken glasses on top of the car is definitely unacceptable. So I can not recommend this place to anyone. read more

As I'm having a current windshield issue on my 2013 SMART car, my Insurance asked me to contact the company who previously repaired it, for the receipt (Yeah, don't ask. I don't understand it either, because I paid out of pocket for it, but ok). However, I think everything happens for a reason, as I had so much going on at the time of my windshield incident, and failed to follow through on what I had promised GlassTek: a review. So GlassTek, I have to thank Progressive Insurance for looping me back to you again. And thank you Megan (sic?), for helping me out on the phone this morning, to send me a copy of the receipt. It took me only a moment to recall who the previous auto glass repair shop was, as GlassTek had taken SUCH good care of me. So, how did I end up working with GlassTek in Alameda? In 2015, I was living in Jingletown at the time, just down the street from GlassTek. I was prepping to move from Jingletown-Oaktown to Portland, OR, and I had a monumental amount of stuff going on, as I had lived in California all my life, and this was a big move. In early November 2015, in the middle of the night, vandals swept over Jingletown and smashed in a bunch of windshields, mine being one of their victims (see pictures). It was depressing, and sad, and the last friggen thing I needed to deal with. After going back and forth with my insurance company, I decided to pay out of pocket for my windshield repair, which was actually a good thing, because it freed me up to visit whatever repair shop I wanted to! After seeking out, and talking with my neighbors who had also been victims of the windshield vandals, I decidedly headed to GlassTek, whom my neighbors were raving about. GlassTek was able to fit me in THAT DAY for repairs, which was good because even though it was less than a mile away, I had to drive over the Park Street steel bridge with my head out the window, so I could see! THAT was definitely....an experience I hope never to repeat. When I arrived, the tech who checked me in was kind and empathized with me, as he knew how hard our neighborhood had been hit, and was glad he and his team could help us. I had never dealt with a windshield issue before, and I didn't really know what to expect... I thought the turnaround time might take a good minute, but much to my delight, I had a call the next morning, letting me know my car would be ready by mid afternoon! I appreciated their helpful, kind team, and their work was exceptional, from drop off to the final handshake. When I arrived, my SMART girl was a good as new, but GlassTek gave me further precautions, as they sent me off with care instructions, as my car's windshield needed time to settle in. I recommend to the Yelp community, wholeheartedly, GlassTek. They have that old-school customer service touch my parents used to wax poetic over. I now see what all the fuss is about! Though I have to say, that old-school service just adds to the warm 'small town' glow of Alameda, and why so many people want to call the darling, bucolic town of Alameda their home. I was busy in the weekend so I made an appointment for Monday morning and it took about an hour and half as planned when I went in Friday. Very quick and easy. I usually don't like to deal with car stuff but GlassTek made it easy and fixed my car quickly! These guys are QUICK! I called them while rolling down 880... Right after being struck by a rock (no, I wasn't tailgating. No one in front of me. ARGH) They said to come right in so they could inspect the damage. A quick description of what they could possibly do to fix the damage before the whole windshield cracked, and they were off and running. Insurance is accepted here (AAA paid for the repair) and I was out the door wit a fixed windshield in about 30 minutes! Thankfully we caught it early. A rock hit my windshield right at the top edge behind the rear view mirror, did not see the crack until the next day when the crack migrated 6 inch down and 6 inch across. Called Glass Tek and was able to get it replaced the following day. I drive a Subaru Outback with the Eye system for auto breaking, etc and would need to be recalibrated. Otherwise, I could have gotten it changed immediately, and it comes with life time warrantee for workmanship and part defect, and recalibration, if needed. read more

I have come here on several ocassions due to having my windows broken (one of the rotten gifts of living in the Bay Area). It has been one of the only places that will let me bring my car in next day so I don't have to drive around with busted windows. Most other places make you wait several days, either because they don't have your part in stock or they have booked up. They have a variety of glass in stock and if not, are able to get it really fast. They are so polite, and do a great job of installing and cleaning out all the glass. Although over the last 4 years I have received great service from Glass Tek with windshield chip repairs and replacement, today was different. I had an expired Groupon, of which the promotion had expired, but of course all Groupon users know the value never expires and can be redeemed. The visit started off with a quick consult from the tech and he offered the required warnings about chip repairs. When I entered the office and spoke with. Megan, I let her know first that I had an expired Groupon. Her response was "we don't have any Groupons". Not really a relevant answer. A call to her manager did not yield any better results, so apparently staff and management are unaware of how Groupon works. The fixes were completed promptly, I paid the full price, and left. Groupon ended up crediting my account. So an A+ for the technical work and staff, but a C for customer service. read more

Here's how much glass was left in my car after picking up a small box sitting on my front seat, I had asked the shop to make sure there was no glass left in the car because it was my dog and I getting back into it and I wanted to make sure we were safe, after apologizing and going over it with the vac once again while I waited, this was the end result. They asked me to post something on yelp! So here is the truth, if you expect them to do anything other than put a window in your car you are going to be disappointed. Updated review and response to shops response below. This is an after picture when I got back after I took the car from them yesterday. If you'd like to see a timestamp I'd be happy to provide it to anyone who has any questions about my integrity. I had one small shallow box with 250 papers that I had just ordered in it on the front seat, the glass was on the box and all this on the chair underneath, the glass was also in my cupholder, and small shards of glass were elsewhere through the car. The car was not vacuumed with anything other then a shop vac quickly, if it was imperative for me to remove the small shallow box and the yoga towel and single cup, the items left in my car after it was completely vandalized in order to not drive home in a dangerous situation, then I feel I should have been told to do so and given a pair of gloves. read more
