I rarely post negative reviews because I know subjective opinion can ruin business's reputation. But THIS is the case where everything went wrong: both the service and quality. I don't know about value for money (I am the tenant and landlord is paying) but no matter how much this costs (I bet a lot) this is not worth paying anything. We needed a large double sliding door as an old one was letting the wind inside the house. The guys came to take measurements and promised to deliver within 2-4 weeks. They managed to get the door ready within this timeframe. And this where the good stuff ends. When they were installing the door me and my husband already had questions to whether the door was leveled (visually I could tell even from the distance that it was not). But the guys were still working and said everything will be good. When they were putting finishing touches my husband told them the door is not installed (or may be even made) correctly. The guys started to talk some nonsense about our house being crooked and unleveled. Ok. I get it. Still the door should be leveled to its frame. It's basic geometry rule for sliding door to function properly. They looked at me like I'm mad. They started to tell me something like: "the doors will always have some gaps. They build it this way, so that it can be later disassembled easily." So I asked: "So you are telling me that the door to the outside will ALWAYS let the wind and dust in?". They were like "Yes!" Then they said: "The door is installed correctly. If you don't like it tell your landlord to call my boss. He will explain to him why is this door installed all right". Story doesn't end here. I explained everything to the landlord including pictures of the new door with the cracks they left on the newly installed planks covering the gaps. After that the boss from this company called me. Usually in such cases people start with apologies for expectations not being met. Did he apologize? No! He said that he needs to come to my house with the level to show me and husband how everything is right with the door. Really? He doesn't even think, not for a moment, that his workers might have done a poor job. So tomorrow I am expecting his visit. Most thrilled. Will post updates here. Meanwhile I am including pictures of a "wonderfully installed door". read more

I order a double glass install for my condo, and they come and do measurements. I ask them many time whether it will fit elevator or not! They said it will fit. When the glass come, It didn't fit. (1st strike, how come they fail at simple job like measuring?) Bad Business etiquette!!! broke my elevator panel and ran away right away when they left their drill bits and the channel groove inside my condo. Since they broke my elevator panel, my HOA was banning their service into servicing my building. I tried to fight it over a year, but lost to my HOA rulling. Now I demand my money back , the only want to return 20% of what i paid them. read more

I hired Glassall to make a glass shower door. They did a fantastic job with fabrication and installation. Even down to the small but very important details like matching the door and hinge hardware to the bathroom sink and be sling the edges so there were no sharp edges or corners. As a new homeowner, it seemed pricey at first but after 3 years of using it pretty much every day I must say it has held up wonderfully and I would recommend their work to anyone needing a professional in this field. read more

I have used them to replace several windows at my properties. Reasonable prices and great service.

Top notch, beginning to end! Had them install custom frameless shower glass and door. Ali worked closely with me to see job finished properly! Highest rating. Get a quote! read more

I got my windows installed almost 9 years ago and it was amazing for the first few years until San Francisco started having some heavier rains 3 years later. Then one of the windows started leaking and we had a huge pond in my dining room-a shock for all. With a lot of back and forth with the company in not such a pleasant way we got the drywall replaced and under window patched and were assured that everything will be ok in the future. Again this winter with the heavy rainfall I have black spots all over the drywall in the line with the window edge and window sill full of water that I have to constantly drain. Glassall Inc with Al in charge comes to my home to tell me that the window is all good and dry - of course it is dry when I dry it all the time so it won't leak deeper to my drywall as the black spots already show is happening. Al's technique working with me is to bully me into submission of responsibility instead of honoring warranty for his work. He was trying to convince me that I left the window open and that caused the leak or that I do not clean frequently my window and that caused the trouble. He also started blaming me that I did not tell him on time about the leak. Like I am supposed to be in the house all year round and watch the window leak and report it right away. I have six windows installed and non of those have issues apart from this one. I want this company to take on the responsibility for their own work. I paid a lot of money for something that is not working and I am now afraid it will create mold issues in my home and that is not acceptable for any reputable company. I want my repairs done and not having to be on alert every time it rains. If you want to save yourself some time and money-find the reputable company that will install your windows, respect you as a customer and you can have a peace of mind if you're away for the extended period of time not to have a lake in your house. read more

Great experience working with Ali of Glassall! I did my deck railing, window replacement, gate and skylight cover work with him. We hired Glassall to replace a mirror in our sliding closet door, after it cracked. And I really regret hiring Glassall. They bid the lowest among the other places I contacted, but ultimately it looks like I'll have to hire another company to re-do their really poor work. - The mirror they installed was the wrong thickness. They knew the thickness they were supposed to use, but they went ahead and used the wrong thickness anyway. I didn't find out about this until they came back to return the closet frame, i.e. they didn't call me to warn me. As a result, the mirror looks bad, with two of the sliding doors with one thickness and the third sliding door with a different thickness, and the mirror sticking out from the metal frame that holds it. - They glued the mirror in place poorly, so that it is moving inside the metal frame. As a result, less than a week after they installed it, a crack started in the mirror, and is now creeping up from the lower left corner of the mirror. There was no additional trauma or impact to the mirror; we simply continued using the sliding glass doors as we normally would. As a result, I now have to hire someone new to replace this cracked, poorly-installed mirror. Recommend avoiding Glassall. read more

I had a property where the windows were broken overnight and we were in a rush to get the windows fixed. This company was amazing. They gave us a very fair quote and were able to fix the windows much faster than any of the company's we called. Communication was great and their repair people were very professional. I will definitely recommend this company going forward. Thanks for being so great! read more

I hired Glassall to fabricate a piece of glass for a shattered coffee table and ultimately they did a very good job, although it took much longer than anticipated. Have you ever had one of those experiences where everything keeps going wrong? Some call it a "clusterfuck". I learned that term at my last job: sometimes no matter how hard you try to rectify a customer's problem, somewhere down the chain another mistake gets made by a different department delaying resolution over and over again. The poor customer is frustrated and thinks your company is incompetent, despite everyone's hard work and good intentions. It's like a black cloud is hanging over you and all your efforts. This is what happened with Glassall. Literally a black cloud hovered over this experience from start to finish. The weather had already been stormy, but the day I hauled my broken glass table to Glassal, the skies opened up and poured down a torrent that flooded this shop with us inside. Driving home I could see that the whole neighborhood was under water, garages flooded. I had taken my broken Italian glass coffee table to Glassall, to fabricate a piece of glass to replace the one that had been shattered. The table had a remaining identical piece of glass that could be measured to fabricate a new one. Once made, Glassall would glue the pieces back into the metal brackets and table base. The first thing that went wrong was they assumed the glass was a standard American width. So, when they tried to fit the newly fabricated glass into the metal brackets and table base it wouldn't fit. Al, the owner, called and nicely explained that the table manufacturer had used Chinese glass that is slightly thinner; therefore, they would have to etch out areas so the glass could be inserted into the brackets and base. This cost extra and completion was delayed. When the table was completed I brought it home and let it sit for another day to let the glue cure, as instructed, before I put the tabletops on. I thought everything was fine, but then a few days later I noticed that one of the sides was sagging and discovered that the brackets were slipping off, the glue had not held. When I disassembled the table I found that there was a big chip on the glass where they had etched the glass to fit. I took the table back. Another week passed by, this time Al made sure the glue was properly cured and called me to come pick up the table. When I came to get the table they had put the metal brackets on wrong so the multi-level tabletops would not have fit. Oh boy. Now, they were going to have to disassemble the table and glue on the metal brackets correctly. When the brackets were finally put on correctly my table was back to normal and all was fine. Their assumption that this glass was a Standard American size was the Achilles heel. I only removed one star from my review of Glassall because they should have measured the width of the glass before fabrication and known it would have needed to be etched in places to fit the table. Had they measured the width, I would have been told the actual cost and ETA up front. All the other problems that happened afterwards I chalk up to the bad luck of a "clusterfuck". Weeks later when I finally picked up my finished table, the owner Al shook my hand and said charmingly, "Thanks Yvette, it's been an experience starting with the flood we had the day you came in." I empathize for Al. Fabricating the glass for my table was a huge headache and I'm sure no profit was made because of the amount of labor it ultimately took. I would return to Glassall despite everything. Thanks Al, for being a gentleman, you're right, it was an experience. read more

Newest weapon in my arsenal against the band of evildoers that roam Rhode Island St between 25th and 26th. GLASSALL TO THE RESCUE!!! The fxxxers smashed my car window out twice in one week. Didn't take anything, didn't even open the door (the alarm was still engaged). Just a senseless act of fxxxerdom. Or, they had Clemson going really far in the NCAA tourney and just couldn't stomach the site of my Michigan window sticker. It was on the window they smashed the first time, then I moved it to the other window (I'm clever like that), and they smashed THAT ONE! Don't hate us because we're legendarily awesome. Back to Glassall. After a quick 10:00 AM freak-out upon discovering smashed window #2 in one week, I went on a quest to find the nearest place that could fix it. By this point, I knew what it should cost, roughly, since it was actually the THIRD time Car had been broken into on Rhode Island. Fxxx that street. I was over the cost. I just wanted it HANDLED. Like Obama handles pirates. And I found Glassall. Bathed in a heavenly glow. Six blocks from my house. With its sign out front declaring "emergency glass repair, same-day service," or something to that effect. AAAHHH!!! (chorus of angels) After all, I had my friend's Brazilian choro band's concert to get to in Oakland at noon. This was definitely an emergency! ONE HOUR and $60 -- the LOWEST PRICE YET for poor Car's window -- later, and I was on the road to a blissful Brazilian afternoon. Glassall, we have officially joined forces against Rhode Island and its minions. (Just kidding about Michigan being legendarily awesome at basketball, though. LOST to Oklahoma in round 2. That afternoon. It was nice while it lasted.) read more

From their website, I was expecting a grandiose store front with bustling customers and a customer service representative greeting customers that arrived at their store.. However, Glass All is a much different beast than their fancy smancy website would elude. It's nestled among the garages in the mission on 14th and looks just like a car repair shop or almost closed (the front door has bars not allowing access.) After arriving, the fellow working there - seemed to be doing just that - working. I asked for a particular type of glass (either stained-etched or laminated) He shifted through the pieces of glass samples for a minute or two until he gave up telling me to return Monday. Luckily, on my way in, I noticed they had the EXACT type of glass I was looking for in a 'for sale' pile. I tell him - this is what I want I just need a different size. He calls up the boss - we make a deal and he cuts the glass to the size I want within an hour. All was good, except - the glass seems to fit 'uneven' like one side is bigger than the other? You can't really tell unless you really look at the glass - although it was noticeable when we picked it up. We were told it's supposed to be like that? So, less one star for not cutting it correctly and thinking we would actually believe that lie. read more

I can see (again)! Glassall is a professional company - honesty and integrity here. They take responsibility for the project and a good outcome. They replaced a fairly large second-story failed IGU (insulated glass unit, the main element in the common dual-pane vinyl window). Good coordination and communication, they help you understand the situation and your alternatives. They arrive when they say they will. They keep at it until everything is A-OK. There were a couple of small speed bumps but all turned out fine. Very reasonable. Would recommend Glassall without hesitation. read more

I'm totally a fan. As an office manager for a consulting firm in the Mission, I often must put out small little operational fires from time to time ( = everyday all day). An employee in my building decided to hoist himself up on a windowsill in order to sit on the ledge. He ended up shattering the small window behind him with his belt (or ass, but who knows i wasn't there). I called a few places and got a few quotes. But Al answered right away. Told me he'd be out there to check out the job within a couple hours, and he showed up at the end of said couple hours. Took some measurements. Jotted stuff down. And told me the job of replacing the broken window could be done in an hour, in about an hour. I was amazed. All for $180 bucks. Other places bid well over $200 extra! Crazy. Al, and his tech did a great job and I hired them right away. read more

My car was broken into and I had them replace the passenger side front door window. They were available quickly and the price & turnaround was appealing. Unfortunately the first piece of glass they ordered was the wrong one. The second one was the right one but was an aftermarket part that didn't quite fit correctly (not their fault). They were nice enough to let me keep the not-quite-right part while they waited for the much more expensive dealer part to show up. Once that arrived (the next day) it was quickly installed and the car is properly fixed now. I paid a little over $200 and I'm happy with the parts and workmanship. I'd give them five stars, except: they said it'd be 45 minutes and it was actually about 2.5 hours one day and 30 minutes the next day. I don't blame them for the glass not fitting but if they had been more conservative about the time estimate I wouldn't have wasted part of my day hanging around waiting for them to finish. Also the conversations with the man working on my car were awkward because he has an accent and mumbles. I could deal with just an accent but i kept having to ask him to speak up. read more

I had my passenger side glass broken over the weekend by someone that wanted my old stereo in the car, and my insurance company, State Farm, referred Glassall to me. These guys did a fantastic job. They came to my apartment, worked with my limited schedule, continually followed-up quickly and professional and I am completely happy with the screens! This should have been a 5 star review. The other reviews and another recommendation from someone who had Glassall do two jobs for them at their house led me to believe I'd be getting superior service. A chair fell and broke one pane of glass in dual paned window. I called Glassall and spoke to someone who gave me a rough estimate, asked some questions about the frame, etc. He said it would take three days to fabricate the new window. This was Monday. I made an appointment for what I thought would be the installation for today with a 8 - 10 AM time window to arrive. At 9:55 AM, no one has arrived. I call Glassall and am told there's no record ordering my new window or service appointment!!! I am stunned and mad! Speaking reasonably, or as reasonably as I could, I explain my prior conversation. It turns out I am talking to the owner, Al, who apologizes and tells me he will come out right away to take the measurements. Everything else, 3 days for fabrication, etc. remains the same. To his credit, he did arrive 30 minutes later, took the measurements and gave me a firm estimate. I'll update this review after the installation, but it still won't be 5 stars. Not after this very disappointing experience. UPDATE: 12/10/07 I finally have a new window! I've upgraded this review to three stars from one. The owner, Al, has been responsive once he learned about the problem. He came out with the replacement window, but it was 1/4 inch off and had to be redone. I'd use Glassall again, but this time I'd insist on talking to Al who I know will get the job done correctly. read more

While I understand the risks of parking on one of the alley streets near my apartment, I was under the mistaken impression that parking in front of a residence would prevent some hoodlum from shattering my front driver's side window. Not so, this past Saturday Night/Sunday Morning. And of course, no auto glass emporium is both open and has the part necessary to replace the window on Sunday. But Glassall opens at 7AM, and also priced itself about $20 less than the next least expensive competitor I called. So, I arrived at 7AM and my window was fixed by 8, enabling me to not be late for work. Hooray for Glassall, and boo to those motherf****s who broke into my car, only to find that there was nothing to steal. read more

Inexpensive, knowledgeable, efficient. My desktop monitor tipped over while I was moving it and it landed into the inside pane of my bedroom window. I gathered quotes to replace the fixed double pane window from about 6-10 local glass repair companies. Glass All offered the lowest price and asked questions in layman's terms. My phone even dropped the call and when I called right back, Al continued his assessment and estimate over the phone. I called for quotes on Monday, scheduled with Glass All on Wednesday for measurements, and the window was replaced by Friday. I couldn't be happier! read more

When my sister and my boyfriend refer to my place as 'The Arctic', I realized that I would have to upgrade my windows sooner than I thought... The old single-paned windows that came with my place made it so that the hot air went out and the cold air came in while my heater was on. My place never got to higher than 62 degrees, even when the thermostat was set to 72 degrees. I called Al and he came over to do the measurements and give me a quote. His quote was FAR less than I was expecting. I even got a second opinion which came in a good amount higher than Glassall. So I called Al and said I wanted to go ahead and get the windows. He came over the next morning - took the official measurements and placed the order. I got a call the next day saying that the window company said the windows would be ready in one week. I scheduled the installation for the following day. They were punctual, friendly and extremely trust-worthy (I left them in my place all day while I went to work). And when I came home? I was shocked to see that there was absolutely no evidence that any work had been done. They cleaned up amazingly. I've already recommended Glassall to friends. Such a great experience! Within less than 1 1/2 weeks from having the measurements done, my new windows were in! Oh! And my place is now around 61 degrees before I even turn the heat on. And when the heat is on, my place can get to the desired 70 degrees that I would like it to be! read more

These guys are the best! I called two other 5 star yelp places. Same item $550. Glassall did it for half that price. Plus efficient professional service. I'm so glad I yelped after I got fed up with the other two glass companies I was dealing with (Sunset glass and Discount glass). Both company gave me quotes to replace a large window in my house for double pane and single pane around $1400 and $1100 respectively. It was so hard to nail them down for a time and quote. After being frustrated with their customer service, I yelped and found Glass All. Al, was really wonderful, honest and on gave me a quote of $850, for double pane! That's $600 less than the other companies and they were able to get it in on time. Service was fast and friendly. Thanks for being one of the few honest contractors out there. A car was set on fire and exploded outside of my building recently and left a major crack in the bay window of my condo. I did my due diligence and called various glass outfitters for quotes. I eventually settled on Glassall in light of its YELP status as the most highly recommended business in its field. The owner, Al, and his team arrived on-time before I left for work for both the estimate and installation. The work was completed within 30-45 minutes and any mess that was created in the process was cleaned up promptly before departure. Al stayed true to his word on the estimate and clearly runs a commendable outfit worthy of the praise he has been receiving. These guys did a very good job for me, and fast. A pane in my French door was broken (by a non-creative friend who got locked out) and I didn't want to leave it taped over in case of burglars. I hate leaving bad reviews and I think most people's expectations for home repair are unreasonable, but I'm pretty disappointed with the work Glassall did on repairing a single 12"x39" frame and I would not recommend the outfit to a friend. The repair guy cut the counterweight in the window frame (which is necessary) but he cut it so short that it can't be reconnected into the frame. I'd be less annoyed if I'd at least been given a heads up but rather than fix it himself, or at least let me know the counterweight needed more rope, the glassall guy just left the counterweight's rope unconnected and I can only assume was banking on nobody noticing. At $250 for a single frame replacement, I'd expect more thoughtful work than what we got. The guy who came out was nice and the repair itself is fine but I could've done the repair myself and only called glassall because I was trying to save time. Since I now need to go hit the hardware store on a Saturday to fix someone else's overpriced work I should've just done it myself and done it right the whole way through instead of leaving a job 3/4 of the way done. If the prices were more reasonable I'd have moved this to a 3 star review but for $250, it's reasonable to expect more thorough work and Glassall didn't deliver. read more

Back in late December, early January I had a bedroom window break due to a fire in my home. I had gone on Yelp to find the best possible glass repair shop and came across Glassall. Great prices, great reviews and feedback. I called the company and they came out within one day and repaired my window inside and hour. Great service! However, just recently, in the beginning of April, I mysteriously got a random charge to my bank account of almost $160.00. Come to find out, Glassall's owner, Ali contacted me saying that when they first charged my account, the charge did not go through and his accounting department charged me a second time. Thus ousting me $160 that I assumed I already paid. Never once did I get a phone call or a notification to let me know the original charge never went through, nor was I notified they would charge me a second time, therefore resulting in other bills that were not paid on time, nor in their entirety because of insufficient funds. Let's not even mention the fact that it took this company 4 MONTHS to re-charge my account. Had Ali or his company called me to notify me of this issue, I would have simply transfered money into my account before the second charge took place. OR, if I was notified after the first charge didn't take, I would have gone to the shop myself and paid in cash. I am never the type to complain about service, especially when I am in need of someone or some service. But the fact that I was never notified that my charge never went through, nor that they were charging me a second time, has me INFURIATED. I would not recommend anyone to use such an inconsistent company, especially if their accounting department needs to run a charge more than once and MONTHS after the service without notification. read more
