It appears that the owner has abandoned this business. The couple that is running the front desk in…read morethe owner's absence is difficult to deal with and that's being kind. I had an issue with the framing of a canvas print that I brought in (it was not stretched properly) and I was told that the issue was my fault. I asked if it could be re-stretched as it was obviously loose and wrinkled. They refused and said it was the humidity in my home that was causing the problem (the print was wrinkled before I took it home). "There's nothing that could be done". "The owner is out of town and is not available to discuss the issue". "I should take the print to another framer if I'm not happy". I asked for a refund and they said I would have to talk to the owner. They did not know when I would be able to talk to him because he was out of town travelling. The gallery has many fine works on display from local artists but I would avoid doing any business with this firm.

They sponsor numerous open juried exhibits for area artists to enter each year. The art gallery is used for art shows, recitals, receptions, or any event that is deemed special. In 2003-2004 this vintage 1854 building underwent complete restoration recreating the 1898 facade look and retaining the original wood floors, tin ceilings, and internal structures where possible. In the beginning of 2005, The Next Picture Show Fine Arts Center became a 501 (3c) non-profit organization. The Art Study, on the lower level, is used for art workshops and classes, student art exhibitions, and meetings of the art community.

We sat in the front row, so we literally a few feet from the actors. About 20 people in attendance. The cost was pay what you want, so I gave $30 each for my wife and I. Afterward, you could give more for the actors, so I threw in an extra $20. The theater is a little tucked back from the street. It's small, and you have to go up a flight of stairs to enter the studio. All the people who worked there were nice and helpful. You could buy alcohol at a reasonable price, but I passed, as I didn't want to have to use the restroom in the middle of the performance. I plan on looking up more shows as they come out. I like the small setting and with only 7 actors performing, you could really sense their skills for each story. They also have art you can bid on in the studio, although we didn't place a bid. I'm not an artsy person but I like plays, and the theme was right up my alley. To the actors that performed that night; bravo!!!!

When, we arrived to set up early our contact person was more than helpful. He went above and beyond. He was enthusiastic to help us out if we needed equipment. They give you printed step by step instructions to follow and all of the supplies. Someone is always there if you need help. They do loaded brush night where you can bring food and alcohol and paint a predetermined painting all led by an instructor. They have mixed media projects which are really fun. There is a gallery upstairs of local artist work and is great to browse during class breaks. The owners, Tabatha and Therese, are amazing and very passionate. My moms group does private parties frequently and have taken classes with both instructors. Both are awesome, patient and wonderful at teaching people like me with no experience at all. I have done loaded brush night and mixed media. Can't wait to try open studio. One huge tip- Public calendars come out every month on the 8th for the following month. Most sell out fast as space is limited. I have an alarm set every 8th to remind me to look at the studio calendar! Can't wait for my class next week!

The class was small so there was more individual attention to our art, along with personal and great conversation with the owner/artist/instructor. She offers a variety of classes in different mediums so there is something for everyone. And if you have had limited art classes as I have, coming here with personalized instruction is perfect. Check out the website and see what is being offered the rest of the month, and June's schedule is soon to be posted. And don't forget to check the art gallery on the main floor and upstairs by local artists. Definitely some good stuff in there. Most assuredly, I will be coming back.

I would really suggest anyone looking to add beauty to their home or office at least stop by Art Post (or visit their website) because what they offer is a wonderful alternative to the outrageous prices and narrow vision of many of the other Chicago area art galleries. Chris and Michael are not at all pushy and genuinely want you to love what you purchase. Every room in my home feels bright and cheerful and makes me smile, largely because of what I've taken home from Art Post in the past two years.

I've been to one gallery after another looking for the perfect painting for my family room. I'm…read morebummed that the hunt for a painting took me so long to visit Art Post Gallery because they have gorgeous work. I spent a lot of time examining the artwork on their website ahead of time and love how they let you search by style, size and other options that makes the art buying process a little easier. I had admired a few paintings on their site, but of course nothing beats seeing something in person. And the same paintings I liked on the site were even better in person. I liked one, Uplifting Light, so much that I asked Chris if she could photoshop it into the room I've been looking for. She said an even better option was to take it home for the weekend. She was also super helpful on what frames would work best and I loved that they could frame the painting right in their store - and she said they could hang it too! I filled out some information, gave her my credit card # and I loaded up my SUV. Turns out SUVs are good for something besides carpooling children around.. Once home I was so excited to see the painting in my family room since I was certain this was the "one." I'm so glad Chris let me try it out because while I loved the painting on it's own it just didn't work in the room- the size was wrong, the colors clashed with the colors in my room, etc. And so a few days later I sadly brought it back and handed it to Michael who was very understanding about the situation. I actually did find another painting at a different gallery over the weekend that I believe is the "one" after trying it out in the room, but I will definitely be back to Art Post Gallery when ready to find art for other rooms in my house.
