We recently moved to AZ and ordered the Osprey Bent Glass Shelf. The shelf came while we were out of town- our neighbor put it in the corner of our garage and forgot to tell us it came, so it sat for a few weeks until we opened it to hang it up. The shelf was fine but unfortunately it did not work in the space we bought it for. Obviously, we were beyond the return date but I called to explain what happened and see if we could exchange it for another one. I could tell the lady who answered woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She was not kind or understanding and said we could not return it. I said 'I'm not just returning it, I'm willing to exchange it'. She said the exchanged item we chose was $8.00 less so it wouldn't be an exchange. I then said 'you can keep the 8.00- we just want a shelf we can use!' She said I'm sorry, you can't return it. So we are stuck with a brand new, beautiful shelf in a box because they could not make an exception for a first time buyer- how sad. We have a lot more to furnish but certainly will not do business with them in the future. read more

I ordered a 54" round 1/2" thick clear glass for a table top. The glass was shipped from NY to CA in a paper thin cardboard box with a little bit of bubble wrap on one side of the outside of the box and the box wrapped in shrink wrap. Inside the box they placed just as thin pieces of styrofoam on either side of the glass and some thin styrofoam around the corners. The delivery guy pulled the package out of the truck and rolled the square box onto our porch. The box was ripped open on the sides and when I opened the box, the styrofoam that was meant to protect the glass was in pieces. You would think this glass company would be better at packaging glass to ship clear across the country. Thicker, more sturdy box, heavier cardboard, thicker styrofoam, bubble wrap around the actual glass, corner protections around the glass? Thankfully the glass only suffered a fairly minor chip on the edge. Still for the price I paid, I expect a perfect piece of glass. I contacted the company and was told to send an email with pictures. They replied saying the original packaging had been altered by the shipping company. "Please know, this was packed in a wood frame on a pallet for ease of handling, which obviously did not make the full trip. It is not the first time I have heard of this happening, and sure it will not be the last. The packaging you received is our base packaging before it gets crated for shipping. Depending on the situation, the frame is removed to make the item easier to fit / stack, then the pallet is removed so they can stand the glass up on the side which saves room on the truck. It does not happen often, but it does on occasion." So, buyer beware, packaging may or may not be guaranteed to be the best. They did offered a 20% refund for the damage, which is commendable. read more

We live in a rural area, and over the last decade we've relied increasingly on internet ordering and delivery for everything from furniture to foodstuffs. Consequently, we know what to expect from various forms of delivery service. When we ordered a 60" glass table top from Glass Tops Direct a few weeks ago they promptly notified us that the size/weight of the top would require their truck delivery service, and it would go out in two weeks. That was fine with us. The delivery itself, though, left much to be desired. This morning I received an e-mail announcing the table top had shipped. No further information was forthcoming. When we arrived home this afternoon, I found the glass table top leaning up against the doors of our garage, soaking wet from the rain, with the packaging ripped, torn and exposing the foam packing materials as well as the glass to the elements. The delivery people did not call in advance, and made not the least effort to ensure the packaging was protected from the inclement weather. I am still inspecting table top as there are sorts of bits of packing materials, adhesive and dust covering both sides. So, I can't tell yet if there is any damage. I would not recommend Glass Tops Direct if your order requires anything other than standard UPS/Fedex shipping. Caveat Emptor. read more

I went to a local glass shop in Houston to see if they could cut a round piece to replace a shattered glass in a small table that belonged to my grandparents. I was quoted $135 plus a $50 "set-up" fee. I did a quick search online and found glass tops direct. The website was easy to maneuver and I had a perfectly cut 16" round glass top within a week of ordering. I was a bit skeptical of having glass shipped, but the packaging was on point and glass was delivered in tact. Glass Tops Direct offered to send call tag for the table tops but wouldn't be able to deliver them to FL until following week. When I explained that we would need to overnight the tops so that they could make it onto a cargo ship before it left the dock, we were offered a $40 credit (on a $209 order). My 42"X72"X3/8" glass top on my dining room table got creamed by a falling chandelier. I looked toward the web to rescue me. I luckily spotted this company. I found a 33"X73"X3/8" tempered glass top which is actually a better fit in the dining room. This item cost $300 and was shipped free. I looked at other sites that cost more and one place wanted hundreds of dollars to ship it. Tempered glass is the only way to go because, when my glass top got broken there were dozens of razor sharp pieces, some of them weighing 20 pounds. I sweated profusely cleaning them up and disposing of them without losing or maiming any body parts. If tempered glass shatters, you can shovel and sweep it up. I could not be happier with my purchase. It took less than a week to receive the 45" x 12" 3/8' tempered glass shelves along with the appropriate brackets for hanging these floating shelves. The shelves weigh about 20 pounds each. Installation instructions were clear and concise. It took about an hour and a half to install all four sets of brackets clean (they were very clean already) and adjust the 4 shelves. The shipping containers were card board, but each shelf and set of brackets were separately boxed, wrapped and protected on all 6 sides with Styrofoam. No damage at all. I ordered two 42" oval mirrors for personal use and was very pleased with the pricing and expediency of delivery. The packaging was exceptional and I felt very secure to keep the mirrors safe until they were installed. After a couple of months to finish construction the mirrors were unboxed and hung. The installation was made more difficult than necessary because the cleats were not square with the oval to hang plumb. Once hanging they looked GREAT but when cleaning I noticed a black spot in the glazing which is at +/- eye-level on both mirrors. I thought I'd found a new, reasonable, and quick resource with which I could work on future projects however with these complications I'm not as confident with the quality of the product and particularly in specifying the product without issues. I have recently written to ask for a resolution to these imperfections but not yet had a reply. Delivery and customer service deplorable.  Waited several weeks for the product, no communication;  no updates.  Had to reach out to them and was told that the item would be delivered later that evening which happened to be Christmas Eve.  The item was delivered to the wrong address.  Luckily the person who received it found my contact information and called to let me know that the product was sitting outside her front door.  As there was a storm expected that evening she graciously lugged (a heavy and large piece of glass) it into her home.  Immediately left a message for Glass Tops - sent an email to Jimmy. I called and spoke with Karen on Monday - which was understandable given the holiday.  She got back to me on Tuesday to tell me that they could not send anyone to pick the item up at the wrong address and deliver it to me until the following week.  I told Karen that this was unacceptable.  I had never met the woman who had my item... it was bad enough she had to be inconvenienced by holding my product in her home for a week - there was no way I could ask her to hold it for another week.  I asked if they could arrange for FedEx or UPS to pick up the item. The answer was NO... Ordered 54" round top. Shipping took awhile but not bad. Surprised the glass made it in one piece as the packing box was totally destroyed and the glass visible. The glass itself had a small rough imperfection in it which was not too bad if you put that side down however the real issue was that the glass itself was not flat and was cupped in the middle so it would not lay flat. Checked the table, flat, checked the glass and clearly 1/8" cupped. It would either be high centered and almost spin like top or would be supported at the edges. Wrote the company back and they did give me 20% back but not helpful if the glass cracks because it is not fully supported. So disappointed in the quality for sure and would have been a one star but gave back one star for at least refunding some of my money back. Probably would not buy again knowing I can't check it first and can't really return it. read more

I purchased a glass top from them and only had 3 months use of it when it shattered causing significant damage to my wood floor. The company was initially kind enough to stand behind it and send us another top. Unfortunately, when they delivered it, it had a bubble in the glass. We did not accept it since another explosion would be inevitable. We had asked them to please inspect the next table top before they send the replacement. The second table top came on Friday. This time it had a chip in the bevel edge. Needless to say they never inspected it. (They refused to send out another top, however they said they would refund my money.) Quite disappointed by this glass table top. It is so thin and light than when I clean my table, it moves all over. Plus and this is more disturbing, the glass is not tempered as it is already scratched, even if we are very careful at cleaning it. We just cannot eat on the glass, we have to have some table mat protectors. So, what is the use if to protect my wood table, I have a glass top that I also need to protect ?
