We had the best day out with Glass Bottom Rentals! Aaron, Michelle and our other guide (I'm so sorry I forgot her name!) were fantastic with our group. Super knowledgeable about the area and wildlife and extremely patient with kayaking rookies. You can tell they truly LOVE their job. The tour was lovely and not strenuous at all. We even took a little break on a sand bar. As a kayaking rookie, I was worried about flipping and/or having a hard time paddling. I had zero issues. The kayak is very sturdy and easy to paddle. We were on vacation in Englewood, and wanted to do some kayaking so we gave this group a try. Easy to reserve, very friendly when you arrive (it was a little hard to find, but look for the surfboards at the entrance of the driveway, right near Kappy's Karts). Easy launch, they gave us directions to the trestles and sand bar area and we were off! The glass bottom isn't really the draw that I thought it would be - the water is pretty clear here anyway, so it doesn't really add as much as I thought it would. But it short order we were at the sand bar area, and we got out of our kayaks and walked around and saw all sorts of fish, a ray, etc. - that was very cool. Unless you go under the trestle area this is a kayak trip that is pretty much 100% in the sun so be prepared with sunscreen and something cold to drink. The 2 hour rental was perfect for us. Our only challenge was that the trip back to the launching area was more "upstream" current wise which made it more challenging when we were hot and tired, but that's not their fault! Totally loved our experience and would absolutely do it again. read more

We had an amazing time kayaking here and would totally do it again. Aaron was so helpful and accommodating. The group before us got a late start, so while we were waiting for the kayaks to be returned, we were able to try paddleboarding too. We saw so much wildlife-6 dolphins (one came right up next to the paddleboard my husband was on), horseshoe crab, sea hares, and the beautiful clear water. On Aaron's recommendation, we paddled out to the sandbar, ate lunch while sitting in the water and got to talk to some of the locals that were out there on their boats. We decided to use our last day of vacation out in the water with the clear kayaks and we are sure glad we did! We had a blast! The experience alone of them being clear was incredible. Aaron had some free time so he went along with my girlfriend and I as well as another couple. He took us out onto the sand bar that you see as you are driving out to Boca Grande. We walked around there while he made sure our kayaks didn't float away. Then we followed him up and around the cove. We got to see 1 dolphin swimming very close by but didn't see any sea creatures swim under us. Aaron made the adventure great. He knew the area well and was super friendly and let us go off on our own and explore and relax. He was super laid back and we couldn't say enough about how much we enjoyed our little trip. Can't wait to do it again someday and bring others to share the experience with! Note: Aaron doesn't typically go out into the water with customers, he just happened to be able to that day. So if you want to go out by yourself, you definitely can. read more

What a wonderful experience! We were trying to escape the red tide and it turned out to be totally worth it! Aaron was so accommodating and helpful. We left out of McKibben Park and travelled the canal for a couple hours and had a picnic in the park when we returned. Absolutely beautiful and well worth the money!!! read more

Gaspirilla/Palm Islands are beautiful as well as Stump Pass State Park. The glass bottom didn't work well (it was foggy) and that kayak is a tank to maneuver. The people at the Kayak Rental barely noticed or asked my name. When I returned no one even cross checked to see who returns etc. If you did disappear it would probably go unnoticed for a while. In other words poor customer service. Location is awesome. read more

Absolutely amazing experience! We came very last minute without calling, unfortunately they didn't have glass bottom kayaks left but they did have paddle boards. Neither of us have ever paddle boarded, we were a little unsure we could handle it but they were so accommodating. They gave us a seat for one of boards, told us to go out and test it for 10-15 minutes before buying. We ended up just taking them right out and had a great time. We got back outside our two hour rental window but that was no issue to them. The couple that runs this little business are very genuine, helpful and show great care toward customers. What a great way to spend a couple hours. Took the glass bottom kayak eco-tour around the Boca Grande waters. The tour guide was excellent and we learned a lot. The water was beautiful. We saw lots of fun sea life... And got to watch a dolphin fishing! It was a fun two hour tour I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for a great time! I called before opening to leave a message about renting 2 stand up boards and was surprised when someone answered. We arrived 15 min early -still before opening- and they had our boards ready to go. The staff was super friendly and even gave us a quick lesson and pointed us in the direction of a great place to swim. We saw dolphins, crabs, jellyfish, sting rays, tons of fish and even hung out with some manatees! Definitely would do again! read more

Just had a lovely afternoon kayaking in North Point. Water was warm, not salt and No Red Tide. Current was minimal, scenery lovely and no misquotes! Perfect day. Aaron with Glass Bottom Rentals runs a great business, knows the area, flexible for his guests and top notch equipment. He provides dry boxed for your help hone and car keys too. He even has fishing poles and lures if you are so inclined. We will return for another outstanding afternoon. read more
