Very fun way to explore the area. Our guide Connor did an amazing job and the boats are stable and easy to drive. We saw Dolphins, lots of pelicans, sea birds and even a bald eagle. It was such a beautiful day, we even went our through Stump Pass into the Gulf as the water was so calm. Every boat has its own radio so you can communicate with the guide and hear about the wildlife and history of the area. Highly recommended. read more

My husband, brother and 17 year old son took a sunset eco tour with Rachel this past week. We had such a wonderful time. Rachel was our tour guide and handled everything perfectly: we quickly learned how to operate the small boats which are similar to a go-kart on the water, she was knowledgeable about the wildlife and waterways, catered our experience to our comfort levels and interest and took fabulous photos which she emailed to us after the tour. I loved it so much that I am doing it again with a girlfriend when we return in two weeks. If you are in the area, this is something you don't want to miss. read more

My family (4 of us) took the 1.5 hour tour last week. Conner was our guide and he was amazing! Very knowledgeable and made the trip a lot of fun. We went on the morning tour and saw several dolphins, a manatee, and a wide assortment of birds. The boats were easy to operate and a lot of fun. We will definitely be going back to take the 2.5 hour tour. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for something new and fun to do! read more

Went out with Connor for our second Riding the Waves trip. We brought friends this time to celebrate a birthday. Great afternoon on the water. Connor explained how to navigate the boat then off we went with our walkie talkies so we could all communicate. The boats are on pontoons so they are very safe. Connor took us around the area and described wildlife as we went along. He is fun, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We came across a huge jellyfish and he reached in the water and pulled it out to show us. He also took photos of us during the trip for a nice keepsake of our great day. A couple of days before the tour I was worried about the weather. I called and spoke to Cheryl and she assured me we'd have no problem switching our day if need be and that customer service was a very high priority for them. Good to know for the future, but luckily for us the weather turned out to be great. We will be back with other friends and visitors for sure. A group of 6 of us went on these small catamaran on Thursday and we had a great time. They are easy to handle and lots of fun. Our only complaint is you couldn't really hear our guide and they need a better camera so they can get some close-ups. But other than that this a fun time and worthwhile. read more

What a great time our family had riding the waves on catamarans! We were celebrating Mother's Day on a sunset tour with our kids. This is such a fun thing to do if you are tourists and want to see the real, old Florida. The wildlife and views are stunning. Locals will also definitely enjoy this trip. Do not book anything on this place. We booked a two an half hour tour and after driving two hours to get to the place, no one from Riding the Waves ever showed up or called us. After we called and left a message, we got a call back with a ton of excuses on why he was not there. Do not waste your time and money on this place read more

My wife and I took their 90 min tour today. We were very pleased and had an awesome time. Matt, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and even more importantly was very laid back and humorous. He tailored the tour to what we wanted. When given the choice between stopping on a beach or enjoying more time driving the boats, we chose the latter. He was willing to let us take the boat out of the ICW channel and onto the Gulf for a little wave jumping. He was great at sensing our comfort level of operating the boat and letting us play around with it while keeping us safe in the channels. read more

Amazing time on the water, I was very afraid at first, I don't like the water, sand and the red tide. I also had back surgery 2 years ago and could not do much, but the boats are low to the water, so I didn't get bumped around. I was extremely fortunate to have such an amazing experience riding the waves. I naturally had apprehension at first being I never operated any watercraft. Rachel was extraordinary in not only calming our nerves but her knowledge and personality were equally matched. Before I knew it we were cruising the most beautiful waters. Seeing dolphins, and many species of birds including bald eagles. We spent most of the afternoon with Art and Rachel and I had the time of my life. The ride was so exhilarating at times we were shrieking in delight. I cannot recommend this experience enough!! My only complaint is that I can't be there now!!! Riding the Waves is a bit of a different way to see the waterways and ecology that Englewood has in abundance. Our Eco-Tour began when we met our guide, Harry, a Florida Certified Naturalist. We also became acquainted with our boat, a two seat Craig-Cat. Harry got us confortable with the boat and the controls and shortly thereafter we were slowly making our way out of the marina and into the more open waters. Our tour began pretty early in the morning and it turned out we were the only couple with him. Generally there are a about a dozen or so people on a tour. Usually a microphone and walkie-talkie system is used by the guide, but since we were the only ones with him, we simply pulled up next to him at idle speed while he was talking. We spent most of the time moving along at a pretty slow pace while Harry pointed out different birds and marine life and told a few historical stories about the area and about Florida. In the middle of the tour we opened the boat up for some fun zipping along in Ski Alley, twisting and turning about. After that we headed into Stump pass, then into the ICW for a return to the marina. All in all, the boats are a fun way to see the area. And they have the added benefit of feeling like you are moving along when you get the chance to open it up and zip through the water. The Eco-Tour was informative, which is something I find pretty nice as well. Riding The Waves offers tours of different lengths and our 1.5 hour tour was enjoyable. read more
