Had a few chips that quickly became large cracks and needed a full windshield replacement. I…read morecompared a few options and found out that Safelite wouldn't do OEM glass. Called auto glass plus based on the good reviews and they took care of working with insurance and gave me instructions on what I needed to do as well. They were able to have insurance cover OEM glass replacement which made the process smooth. The day of the repair I was running late and ended up being late for my appointment. Initially I was told I would have to rebook since there wouldn't be enough time for the repair. It was my fault, so it was fair, however one of the techs came in and said they might be able to get it done. I was thankful that they tried to work it out and they ended up being able to complete the work. So far the work seems good! The only issue was that the wiper arms were misaligned and were smacking the A pillar. I ended up adjusting it myself to fix it. TL;DR: Staff made process smooth. Tech made glass smooth.

But anyway, it would be logical that Safelite would be familiar with my model of car. So the second time I called Safelite, I had pushback that they couldn't replace my windshield. Then they called me back with an appointment. They called me yet again to schedule an appointment at another location, over an hour from my house, for 8 am. I received a call the very minute I was going to leave my house for my 8am appointment (mind you, it's an hour away), that my repair couldn't be handled at that location. Very frustrating. This ends well, however, because I was able to have my windshield replaced at this Morton Grove location. And before I could get cracked windshield #3, I sold the car. TLDR: lots of back and forth to get windshield repaired. Also, cost of windshield was $2500, so you can understand why I wanted to go through insurance and use Safelite. Also: trucks and landscape trucks driving on Edens without covers = bad.

I had gotten a few quotes upwards ~$100 from a few other places before thinking about calling my insurance about it. I swear I had paid like $15 at some point in the past few years somewhere back in Ohio, but maybe I'm misremembering. This is more a testament to my insurance than Safelite, but I didn't have to pay any deductibles and the lady who helped me over the phone to schedule the appointment was super pleasant, accommodating and efficient. As for this Safelite location, my appointment to get a small chip on my windshield repaired was at 8am as it was opening. A couple walked in right in front of me to drop off their car for another appointment, which took a good 5 minutes, then it was me. The lady who was helping us was perfectly pleasant even though it was early in the morning. I have very low expectations of people's moods when opening their shops in the morning, but I was pleasantly surprised. She even let me sit down to have my McD breakfast inside! LOL (Never expected them to say no, but you never know...) The job was done in less than half hour, which was on point to my expectations. As per usual, they gave the speech about how crack repairs are never perfect and you'll be able to see the remnants of the repair. It was to be expected, so everything was fine. All in all, I was super happy with the service!

My dad got his windshield replaced for a crack in January and everything went wrong. The camera fell off, the windshield whistled at 50 MPH, the heads up display didn't work, AND they didn't calibrate the rain sensor! On May 18th we had a safelite technician come to our house and he said that he would order the OEM windshield and then call us when it was in. Did we ever get a call you might ask? No. We reached out to customer service June 13th (the customer representative was under the influence of something) and said that not only did they not order the OEM windshield it wasn't even saved in the notes. The customer service representative said she would order it and then it would be in in about a week. We were skeptical about that timeframe so we set up the appointment to get it fixed a few days after JUST in case something happened and boy did something happen. We dropped off the car a night before the appointment and the next day received no calls or updates whatsoever. We call customer service and even THEY couldn't even get ahold of their own store! But not to worry, not only did they not update us, the windshield wasn't in until the next day... making us without a household vehicle for three whole days. This place is an absolute joke of business and if it wasn't included under warranty we would have never chosen to come to this "establishment". Both your time and energy can be spent somewhere else and if you've read this far I hope you got a laugh that this didn't happen to you and can see why not to come here :)

Feel their business practices and guarantee/warranty could be written out and more specific, get the vibe its a work in progress - wannabe professional shop with owner / workers that have never worked in a professional setting, if you get that analogy. Not sure $335 is a bargain, worked out to $140 per side windows and $195 for the windshield (with a supposed $25 discount on the windshield) but the job is decent, if the 2-3 bubbles I see in the windshield go away, as promised. Will update later if they do not.
