WARNING WARNING For anyone thinking about buying a car from GLASGOW TRADE SALES I purchased a car from GLASGOW TRADE SALES on 14/2/18 with 3 months warranty! I have been trying to contact them since the 10/3/18 to report some problems I am experiencing. They hang up on me & don't return any calls when I leave messages. They also refuse to acknowledge or respond to emails. I now realise they have done this a lot to other customer's. After a bit of investigation on my part the warranty they claim to offer with "Warranty Wise" which you can clearly see advertised on all their current cars is a complete LIE. I have personally spoken to warranty wise and GLASGOW TRADE SALES are not an approved dealer of warranty wise and haven't been for 5/6 months now. They are liars and cheats please do not buy a car from them it's not worth the risk. Check out the reviews on Google and Auto Trader I wish I had before buying my car. All I can do now is warn others so they don't fall for the same lies I did. Please help me by sharing this with family and friends in the Glasgow area! read more

Glasgow Trade Sales. Absolute cowboys and thieves. Do not go near this place if you value your money because they absolutely WILL rip you off. Recently bought a Kia Carens that turned out to have multiple issues. GTS do not answer calls or reply to emails or messages, I wonder why. I guess their 30 day warranty is worth about as much as their word. I have since had the car independently checked and the garage I use and trust are adamant the car should never have passed an not due to the brakes being defective among other issues. GTS never even bothered to fix the non existent handbrake despite falsely claiming too. Glasgow Trade sales will take your money then stick their fingers up at laughing you as you drive away. The matter is now in the hands of trading standards, VOSA and the police for the dodgy mot issued. Glasgow trade sales have f####d with the wrong guy this time. See you soon Dan!!! read more

Back in March I bought a Ford Fiesta from Glasgow Trade Sales and traded in my Corsa. I tried to contact the dealership within 30 days of purchase as I had it checked out by a local garage who found multiply issues adding up to roughly £1000 to fix and a total DEATH TRAP to drive but the dealership wouldn't answer my calls, texts or emails. I contacted consumer Scotland who sent me 2 letters over the space of a month to send to Glasgow trade sales as I was well within my rights to get a full refund or my repair costs paid for but yet again i had no answer. It has been passed on to trading standards who have recently contacted me and enlightened me about this car dealership. It turns out they have had many many cases involving Glasgow Trade Sales which are exactly the same as mine, no contact after sale what so ever and the sale of faulty cars. Trading standards also told me that it appears that they don't have a second hand dealers license so this means they also sell cars illegally. James Doyle is the name of the guy who owns the company. This man is a total con artist/fraudster and has been in jail before for it. If you type into google "James Doyle from Glasgow" you will learn all about him. It is a family business of Son, brother and cousin who all are in on it too. I should also mention before I traded in my corsa i had many issues with the car and traded it in for £450, 2 days after I traded it in it was polished off, fresh set of trims and out for sale for £1495 and I KNOW that that car needed a lot of work done to it so there is no way that it should of been out for sale especially at £1495. I also got a letter through the door saying that the corsa was left abandoned along the M8 J15. This company is just stealing your money when you buy a car. I am totally devastated it happened to me and I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. I have been constantly phoning people for advice and help over the past few months but it seems that there is a very low chance that I will get my money back or car repairs paid for. I honestly have no idea HOW this place is still open with everything I have found out about James Doyle and this dealership. read more

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE (I grudge having to rate this place even one star just to write a review) I purchased a car from these cowboys less than two months ago the car has as far as I am concerned a dodgy mot. Work was needing done after the previous years mot as there was advisories. No work was carried out because after taking the car to a reputable garage they informed me because of this there is no way it could have passed this years mot. So they have sold me an unsafe vehicle with what appears to be a falsified mot. Spoke Someone at Glasgow Trade Sales they only offered to fix the car but at a cost. After talking about the warranty they said that the work needing done was wear and tear done by me and not covered and that they were only being nice by offering to fix the car and also added that he was comfortable that they haven't done wrong and its my problem now so take it up with the mot center. The car needs full set of break pads as they're down to the metal the car also needs a full new exhaust system. After further attempts of contact they just ignore my calls so Trading Standards are involved now I have also been advised to contact the police regarding the mot. I would strongly advise ANYONE to stay away from this place unless you feel comfortable behind the wheel of a death trap. Very shady place indeed they are a very stereotypical dodgy second hand car dealer. read more

Do not go NEAR this place I WISH I hadn't. I went there for a wee CAR just to get me FROM a to b I paid 1800 pounds for a Peugeot 207 he said it was a reliable wee CAR so I trusted him boy was I wrong I bought the car on the 27th of July I had it 2 days an it's been in the garage EVER since I'm 66 years old an have.just lost my husband I told him all this I've asked for my money back BUT he won't give me it read more

what an experience and not in a good way ! I bought a Volvo…read morexc60 and from the get go there was issues really noisy suspension back and front , issues with the power steering and then after driving for a few days smoke coming from engine . After talking to them they took the car back saying they would sort the issue but after having my car for a week none of them were sorted. They said they sorted the smoking engine but I drove it for less than an hour and it started again and the suspension was not fixed and either was the steering. I got a lot of really poor excuses saying they ordered the wrong part and they were waiting on it coming in but I know for a fact that parts were never ordered . They sold me an unsafe car they should have sorted them a soon as possible. The worse experience I've had buying a car , now I have to take it to a real mechanic to get the unsafe issues properly sorted as have gran children who I have in the car a lot .

Kept the car to fix it right upto the day before consumer rights expired. Took money out our account they were supposed to put in. Had to raise a dispute with the bank. Was spoken to in the most derogatory manner. Should have seen the complaint with trading standards to the end but it was breaking the relationship. .

Went in to buy a Ford - we would literally have bought the car on the day but the staff were all like the typical wide boy I know better than you type. I went with my mother and remained quiet through the proceedings - we actually found the car we wanted in the car park, gave the specs we wanted i.e. Ex Demo Ford Fiesta but they continually tried to push a NEW car on us - never listened to my mother said. Ignored totally that the car we had actually given almost a 100% match for was in their Ex Demo car park outside. I remained silent right to the end and then when I realised they were trying to fob my poor old mum off I started to ask questions - I am an excellent car mechanic having built my own Kit Car and own several vehicles so I knew about 500 times more than any of these slimy little toads they call salesmen in terms of technical specs , engine capacity and the like - as soon as they realised I was not just the dumb son accompanying his mother they got all defensive. Walked out and would never go back - utterly awful experience for my poor mum - she was so embarrassed! The Asian guy who came in to try and seal the deal was an utter arrogant p***k and I would have knocked his lights out if it was in any other situation - how they can employ d***s like this is beyond me!

However, this does not mean that their customer service has slipped to the level of Taggarts in Motherwell... After several horrific experiences with multiple branches of Arnold Clark over the years (a business we won't even touch to get a spare windscreen wiper fitted in future, regardless a new car), we looked at Land Rover as an option and Shields as a dealer. Eye-opening. It's wonderful to discover in this day and monopolised age of car dealers that there is still at least one company out their that's not trying to rip you off and treat you like dirt the moment they have your cash (*cough*Arnold Clark*cough*). The salesman we dealt with was obviously hugely happy to be working for Taggert (and has been with them since they were Shields) and was nothing but honest through all our dealings. We got the best trade-in for our previous vehicle that we'd been offered anywhere, a hefty discount on the car after haggling, and he went out of his way to ensure we got delivery on a day that suited us just before a long family trip. After-sales care has been a similar joy. Not just "satisfactory", but "superb". Pleasant. Enjoyable. And full of nice surprises, like European breakdown cover included for life - as are MOTs. We honestly can't fault the buying experience or anything that's followed. Thanks you Taggarts (Glasgow) for restoring out faith in car retailers!

From the moment I found the car online the dealer has been excellent from initial contact through to the sale. The car was held for me until I could come down from Aberdeen and I found it as described and the purchase was completed with ease. After the purchase and on the drive home a small issue was identified, this was not a problem for the dealer and true to their word they fixed it despite the logistics of me living in Aberdeen. I can only summarise the after sales support as being above and beyond what I would have expected and I genuinely cant thank them or praise them enough. Despite the fact I live in Aberdeen I would happily make the journey and purchase another car from Glasgow Trade Sales and would happily recommend them to my friends, family and anyone else for that matter. Just purchased a ford focus from these guys, great Customer service from sales, Attique and also from customer service, David who efficiently help me through the whole process.. Realised on driving home from picking up the car that there was a problem with one of the rear tyres. I spoke to david who told me to take it into Halfords auto centre. When they checked the tyre they found a nail in the tyre and it was needing replacing, they rang david, got it authorised for repair and the tyre was replaced. I have to say the whole experience from start to finish has been excellent and would highly recommend Glasgow trade sales and would most definitely purchase from them again. read more
