I will not be coming back. Some background: I went to Threads Beauty Bar & Spa around 5 years ago and have not been back. They were the ones initially who made my eyebrows uneven. Yes, I do understand that it is next to impossible to have "even" eyebrows. I left Threads having one eyebrow longer than the other (my left side is longer) and having uneven arches. I have since been trying to grow them out trying various other threading lounges and finally succeeded to even them out. I have also been threading my eyebrows for the last 7 years and I will not be returning to this place (as well as Threads in Dublin). Today, I asked the lady working (I didn't even catch her name) to leave the hair closest to my eyebrow and just to clean up around my brow. Instead, she threads all the excess hair around my eyebrows (and some) leaving none of the hair I grew out. She also made my left brow much skinnier. She was the only one working that night... And with nobody in line behind me I expected her to take her time and listen to what I wanted. Instead I was in and out within 10 minutes. I have been here before and when I initially came in they said they would work with me to even my eyebrow shape and that it was a process. I trusted them and now I have a chubby eyebrow and a skinny eyebrow. I'm pissed and back to square one. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I've always had a good experience with Mamita and Sarah. The lady I've kept having recently hasn't been as good, not even close. She's also really rude. Today's experience was the worst! She sat me down and started threading my eyebrows, but I've never felt pain like this during threading before. After finishing my right eyebrow, she kept wiping and wiping which is weird because you don't have to wipe that much for hairs... I realize what had happened after I went to my car and saw all the cuts under my eyebrow. She was wiping my blood! Didn't even bother to say sorry or tell me about the cuts. Way to be professional. The area right above my eyelid is inflamed and super red. This is definitely going to swell tomorrow. Even after all the cuts and missing skin on right eye, she kept pressing super hard against my left eye. Mamita is always gentle. I've been coming since they first opened and never have I had an experience so terrible. When I was paying, she asked if I had my stamp card and I replied with "Yes, but I left it at home today." She immediately sat down and went on her phone with nothing else said. On top of all of that, my eyebrows are uneven. So what was the point of me even visiting this time? Nothing but a bad experience all around. I'll wait for Mamita next time and you should too. read more

Pros: eyebrows shaped nicely Cons: 1. Scab on skin from where I was cut with the thread 2. Requested aloe, which a huge clump was placed on my eyebrow and I had to rub it in myself as it was falling into my eye. 3. Worker did not use hand sanitizer before threading 4. It was empty when I went and they still missed some hairs, did a rushed job. Usually go to poojas across the road. Will not stray from my regular spot again. read more

I've been here a few times and have been pretty happy. I've gotten my whole face threaded a couple of times, and once just my brows/lips/problem areas. ;) The staff is friendly and attentive. I appreciate that we came in once just 30 minutes before closing and they accommodated us with no problem. They take walk ins and work really efficiently so that even when there's a line of 4-5 customers, the wait isn't painful. The most recent time I came in (Christmas Eve Eve Eve), the lady who threaded me didn't do the most thorough job, but it wasn't so bad that I needed to go back or couldn't be photographed. No big deal. Next time, I'll be sure to inspect more closely before I hop in my car. Only complaint - I could do without their Bieber playlist. :P read more

I went to this brow place on Labor Day because they were open and it's close to my house. The young girl who did my brows was nice and professional. Her work on the other hand...I'm left with 3 scabs on my right eyebrow. I thought they looked good when she was done but when I got home I looked closely and she ripped some skin off my brow/lid. I'm so upset about my eyebrows. I went in yesterday 9/4 mid afternoon to get my eyebrows done and I seen there was a new lady working alone. I really needed my eyebrows done so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and give her a chance. I believe her name was Midra. I don't remember. I SPECIFICALLY told her. I don't want any sort of shape, I just want a clean up. She obviously did not listen. When she was done she let me see my eyebrows and I usually just look really fast and leave. Once I got in the car I noticed she had chopped half of my right eyebrow off. The corner of my outer eyebrow was literally gone!! I don't know about anyone else but that part of my brow takes forever to grow back or just won't grow back at all. I really wish i could give this place ZERO stars because of my half chopped eyebrow. I will not be going back. I'll stick to my normal eyebrow place and pay a little more, for care and go to people that listen to what the customer requests. So if you want the half an eyebrow look. The lady here is awesome! Her name is Sarah, she used to work at Shapes Brow Bar and had so much clientele that she opened her own store. I was disappointed when she left Shapes Brow Bar, since it was close to me I went back to get my eyebrows threaded by someone else and it was a disaster. Needless to say I am now one Sarah's clients who is following her to her new store. Place is clean and cozy. The service is affordable and she does an AMAZING job!! read more

Great addition to Castro Valley. Ten years ago, I remember Threads Beauty Bar in Dublin being the only threading place around and it was operating out of a hotel room. I'm glad more threading shops are opening up. Price is decent at $10 for eyebrows. I typically don't see it cost less than $12 at more seasoned shops. I hope the prices don't go up. Saturday at around noon wasn't busy. There were 2 workers already working on people but I only had to wait a couple minutes. My eyebrows turned out very clean but a little thinner than I'd like (make sure you tell them at the beginning). The thread only broke once and the process was fast and clean. You wipe up your own stray hairs. They do offer lotion/aloe afterwards but it doesn't come with a massage like at other places. Also, a stamp card is such a big plus!! Had my eyebrows done by an elder lady by the name of Rhina (not sure of spelling is correct). She tugged so hard that her string broke multiple times and very few of my eyebrow hairs actually came off. My eyebrows came out uneven & there were many stray hairs.
