Claudia is located very close to San Juan Capistrano, and often travels to the venue to style brides' hair onsite at the Casita. I immediately called Claudia to schedule a trial for both myself and my mother, and Claudia arranged for a makeup artist to be there at the same time to do a trial for both hair and makeup. We loved their work at the trial and booked with them on the spot! Claudia has such a sweet demeanor, and really listens when you tell her what you want your hair to look like--so much so that after my trial I booked a cut and color with her, and asked her to make my hair extensions for the wedding! On the day of my wedding, I arrived to find Claudia there, but no makeup artist. Claudia calmly informed me that the makeup artist would not be able to make it on the day of the wedding (one might freak out about this, but I just had to laugh because everything about my wedding was incredibly smooth, and even this seemingly MAJOR hiccup was quickly resolved). Prior to telling me, Claudia had called around to other makeup artists she works with and found the amazing Jamie Spelber to come and save my face (literally!). While Jamie was en route, Claudia calmly got started on the hair for myself and my bridal party, and the makeup artist arrived shortly thereafter. My bridal party had a variety of different hair types and styles, but Claudia did a beautiful job on each and every one of us! She makes sure the makeup looks flattering on your features and is open to adjusting the look if you want to go a different direction. I've gotten my makeup done a few times professionally in the past, but PD is the best one I've gone to since she doesn't heavily layer products and only uses the necessary amount for your complexion to look its best. I've even put the bridal trial hair and makeup to the ultimate test by rock climbing, and everything, including my low wispy bun, stayed intact. The same went for my wedding day - she gave me a touch-up kit but I didn't use it much (except for the lip product) since nothing budged even though I cried a bit during speeches. I got the bridal package and got a lash lift from her as well. The bridal package also includes a basic gel manicure. PD can do basically everything! She also did my bridal party and both moms' make up and hair, and everyone loved it. My younger sister is even planning to book her for her graduation hair and makeup. PD did everyone's hair and makeup so quickly starting at 6am, and took on average a little over an hour per person. So glad I found PD for my wedding day and would definitely recommend her!

As someone who works in the hair industry myself, I appreciated their energy and skill. We connected on Instagram, I reached out with availability, and I was genuinely excited to work with them. I even offered a deposit, which they declined... The trial went really well. I explained that the timing of my engagement photos depended on my fiancé's custom suit being finished. Everything seemed clear and straightforward. I also asked for recommendations for someone who could do a midi horseshoe haircut on me, and Marilyn said she could. I reached out to schedule because no she doesn't offer online booking... didn't hear back for about a week, she texts me if I wanted to come in... since I didn't hear back ... ended up going somewhere else. Later on, I tried booking another haircut. We agreed on a time, but she canceled two hours before. We rescheduled, and again she canceled two hours before, this time due to her mom being in the hospital. I tried to be understanding--I've been through similar with my own mom--so I gave her space. Even if she was going through stuff she could have told me she needs more time off. Even 2nd time around she could have messaged or called me at midnight saying I'm not well and on a good head space ... But then I noticed she was still posting on Instagram a few weeks later and pinged her. When I reached out again to move forward with my engagement hair, she told me she was mostly available after 3 PM because of her day job. She did offer more availability if she had 2 weeks notice to take a day off to open her day up more or offer a recommendation for someone with more time ...I said I could work around that schedule or 2-3 weeks notice so she could take a day off since I already paid for the trial and loved the trial look. I let her know December was hectic, so we likely needed to shoot in January or February. I was still willing to give a deposit and finalize dates. Out of nowhere, she sent a message saying we shouldn't work together anymore, claiming it was due to me calling her out for being online ( I pinged her to see if she was back to work ) and "contradicting" myself because I wasn't ready to book in December--even though I had already explained the logistics with it being the holidays and I was ready to schedule for January when confirmed and was willing to send a deposit... Sounds to me she needed to push for me to schedule in December for Xmas money or much needed cash for something big. After looking back at everything, the red flags were the multiple last-minute cancellations and the inconsistent communication. Even when trial was booked... I was told it was at the Phoenix Suites in Anaheim. No suite number no buzzer or information... I myself have a salon suite at Salon Republic and when clients book... I five them the suite number, buzzer code etc. I had to ask her how to do I enter or is there a buzzer code? Their work is genuinely beautiful, and her sister is incredibly kind, but reliability matters. Based on my experience, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending them to someone who needs dependable booking and follow-through.
