We were lucky to stumble upon this place for lunch in Lexington. The country fried steak with brown gravy and onions was a well-balanced homemade treat. The coleslaw was perfectly balanced, and the fried okra was very lightly hand breaded for a light crisp outside yet soft and flavorful inside--it was the best fried okra I've ever had. The cheese stick appetizer was a generous portion of six large fried cheese sticks, and was very tasty. The buttermilk pie for dessert was excellent and the pecan pie dessert was good as well. We were served by Gladys herself. She was witty, a bit, sassy, and entertaining, making the whole lunch experience a lot of fun. Best restaurant in the town. Pretty much the only restaurant in town where you can sit down. Fairly priced and food is good and plentiful.

They serve breakfast and lunch. I was there lunch, if you want to order from menu, you seat yourself. If you want the buffet, you get a meat and 3 veggies. I am not sure if the cornbread comes with. They do have deserts, they are probably extra. The buffet looked good, BBQ if some sort, probably ribs, fried chicken strips and pieces. Cabbage, mashed potatoes, baked beans, yellow squash, green beans, and corn. The chicken strips were pretty good, but greasy. The potatoes had no taste and the cabbage was mild and okay. The green beans were okay. My husband said the yellow squash was good. They place was okay, and will keep your stomach from growling. FYI, if you are not used to MS style cooking, all the vegetables overcooked. Okay people working, they lady who dumped her pitcher of ice tea on me never said she was sorry. Absolutely delicious!!! Very very much worth the drive off the interstate (it's only about 10 minutes, just do it). We had fried chicken with green beans, rice and gravy, and THE most delicious corn casserole I've ever had in my life. The caramel cake for dessert was soooo perfect. We met Ms. Gladys herself who started this restaurant 21 years ago and it's no wonder it's survived this long with amazing food like this. She is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet and her staff follow her example. Great little place!!! read more

Had the buffet lunch -fried chicken, beans, okra, mustard greens very delicious. Went back for more twice, didn't try the other foods except my friend's catfish which was OK but I'm not a catfish fan anyway. Really enjoyed my meal. My friends ordered off the menu and had to wait quite a while, where I could eat straight away! Bonus! Good to bear in mind if you're short on time. Friendly, nice staff, quite busy, obviously well-liked and supported by locals, great value. I recently worked with Gladys to prepare a genuine Mississippi style luncheon for approximately 150 family members for our family reunion last weekend. Most of my family had not ever been to Mississippi, I wanted to give the a taste of true "Southern Hospitality." Gladys and her staff prepared collard greens, black eyed peas, macaroni and cheese and peach cobbler to accompany our fried Mississippi Catfish and Barbecued Chicken. As per our contract, Gladys was easy to work with in the planning stages and delivered the requested items to the Multi-Purpose Center, with all food items fresh, hot and on time. My family was amazed at the wonderful taste and freshness of everything that Gladys prepared for our event. By the end of our event, all of the food items that she had prepared were gone and family members were asking for more. This was the perfect compliment to our family reunion and I would highly recommend Gladys and her staff for your catering needs. read more
