I am truly at a loss for words after today's visit to Gladwell Orthodontics in North Raleigh. My daughter's treatment took about four years, and today was supposed to be her final visit. I simply asked Dr. Frank Rudey (whom I was meeting for the first time) about permanent retainers, as they had been previously recommended. He began to answer but then abruptly stopped, stated that I didn't trust his professional opinion, and said the other doctor who had originally recommended the retainers should finish the appointment instead. Then, he left the room--yet no one else was available, of course. I'm not sure what prompted this reaction--whether he dislikes being questioned or took issue with my Russian accent--but I left feeling disrespected and offended. We were told as long as we have the wires for our retainers, to glue them back on would be free. My daughter's wire pops off on one side so the wire was still in her mouth. She made an appointment and went in to have them glue it back on. She said it took less than a minute (same cramped chairs). They charged her $80 to glue the one side back in place. I was working and couldn't be there with her. I was hoping to update on a positive note. It just didn't work out that way. read more

This office lies about cost. Dr. Gladwell has a relationship with Align, and provides Align employees with treatment at no out of pocket (only insurance). I started treatment as an employee, but was laid off last October. I specifically asked in my November appointment if I would owe any money, and was told "no". I would have ended treatment right then if they had said I would owe money, and settled up so I could make solid financial decisions during this difficult time. They lied. It's six months into a job search, in a horrid economy, and now they tell me I owe over $1200. Do not trust Dr. Gladwell. read more

In Feb 2025 we had to call Raleigh PD to the office. One of the staff members cut my daughters lip in 3 places. we filled out a police report. The bleeding was serve and we called rescue to our home. Gladwell texted us back and it was a office girl acting like a provider after 5pm. Bad service several providers have left. The one provider we are filing a lawsuit with why? my daughter had mouth surgery now in May and she is ready for another mouth surgery because of this office. The staff is rude and refused to remove my daughters braces off she started talking in spanish also. I am in Healthcare for over 25 years. I would NEVER go to any of these offices again. My daughter is seeking help mentally and emotional because of this. They billed our insurance and they billed our credit card. The credit card they won and the insurance has the legal team on it. The person who called this an Invisalign mill is spot on. The customer service was great the day I received a quote for services and immediately went down hill. You see a different employee each time you go in. I'm convinced the person I saw the weeks prior is no longer with the company. They just hire a new young person that wants treatment for free. Some techs are good. Some have no clue what they're doing and leave blisters in your mouth. I have constantly been asked if I'd like to stop treatment, if it's good enough, despite my teeth not being straight and the original timeline not being complete. The billing has been a disaster. I am not sure why he is still in business with the horrible reputation he has. He touts this practice as family owned and has plastered his face everywhere to adverisie the practice, but the truth is he sold out to Lightwave Dental group years ago and it is nothing more than an Invisalign factory now. He will push Invisalign on you and your children even if it is not the proper course of treamtment and when you inevitably need to switch over to traditional braces, he will charge you more. He only cares about his bottom line; has extremely shady business practices; and has admitted you need sometimes need to do "shi**y things to good people" to make money. Do not let the Starbucks "Charity" Cafe fool you, that is all for show. He wants the community to believe he is generous, a Superhero of sorts, but EVERYTHING he does is to fill his fat bank account. Multiple friends have had to seek additional orthodontic treatment for their children after being treated here. There are plenty of professional, intelligent, honest, kind and caring orthodontists in the Triangle area- Jason Gladwell is unfortunately not one of them. read more

The initial visit is the sells pitch. Once they get you in the door it is a revolving door. You see different people every time. One says one thing the next visit the next one says something different. I was actually discouraged from my last visit which was take down- i felt my teeth were not straight enough and was told another round of trays wouldn't help. Really!!! Dr. Gladwell invests in his staff, practice, and community to provide the perfect patient experience. Why would you go anywhere else? Most people in the greater Raleigh area don't. Growth has severely impacted the level of service for this business, unfortunately for the worse. They were the best in town -for a long time. No longer the case. Long wait times , rotation of too many doctors -which results in prolonged treatment because of difference of opinions. For now -look elsewhere. There are many great options. We went to several local orthodontists for consultations before we chose Dr. Gladwell for our child's treatment. We ultimately chose Gladwell due to convenience and recommendations from friends. The office is clean and modern. The orthodontists we have seen have been pleasant and the technical staff is kind and knowledgeable. That said, I wish we had made a different decision in choosing a practice. I absolutely dread having to call the office to make an appointment or ask a question. The staff members that answer the phone are exceedingly unhelpful and oftentimes snippy. For example, I called recently to ask a billing question in order to make an insurance selection for next year. I was told that the billing department is too busy to take phone calls. I asked if I could leave a message to have a call returned and was told no. I asked if there was an email address for me to contact. Again, no. I asked how I could get my question answered and was told, "I guess you could come in." Um ... you want me to drive to the office to physically ask you a billing question in person? I wish I could say that was my only negative interaction, but it unfortunately isn't. Every time I call to schedule an appointment, I end up frustrated with both the schedule and the interactions I have with the receptionists. Bottom line: the orthodontists may be fine, but the gatekeepers to get to them make me wish we had chosen a different practice. read more

Dr. Gladwell was recommended to us from our dentist. Both my kids will need braces, no doubt. We have scheduled two complimentary appointments for Dr. Gladwell to set a starting point for each child's mouth. My kids are 7 and 9 and so far we are at the wait and watch stage, as they still have baby teeth and movement in their mouths. We are always greeted very happily here and have questions answered in a timely manner. They apologize profusely if you wait too long. My son has been seen twice, my daughter once. We have not paid a bill yet. Rather astonishing that they really care about making sure the orthodontics are done at the right time and not just money grabbing from the start. Makes me appreciate the office and doctor that much more. Best part is the Starbucks cafe that is in the office! Makes long waits bearable as does the arcade for the kids! read more

I've been coming to Dr. Gladwell office for over two years with Invisalign treatment. I come in every few month to get my trays, and it's super convenience for me as a college student. The office staff are super nice, and you can get Starbucks drinks here! I'm so glad that I chose Gladwell Orthodontics to get my braces here. As Dr. Gladwell promised there's no pain for Invisalign. I'm glad that I never chosen traditional braces. They work with you to make sure your teeth are perfect and straight. Even though it's past your treatment plan period. There isn't any additional charge of fee. They'd love to give you the perfect smile!!! Super kids-friendly with game waiting room! The assistants there are so gentle and kind to my daughter, I can't stress enough how much I appreciate that. Pre COVID...I loved this place. However since the pandemic they are not taking enough precautions. They ask a few questions & take your temp (staff wears masks) when you check in. AS OF TODAY THEY DON'T MAKE VISITORS WEAR MASKS IN THE LOBBY. But they are still overbooking appointments, creating longer wait times in an tight spaced (getting filled up) waiting room.. We showed up a 10 minutes early for an appointment in the first 30 minutes of opening only to have to wait 15 minutes past our appointment time in a lobby with few visitors wearing masks, seating filling up & not six feet apart (people un masked sat right across from where we sat barely two feet away). Please Gladwell...if you are not going to slow down booking, at least make masks mandatory in the waiting room. read more

HUGE fan! The whole process has been a breeze! I sought Dr. Gladwell's help after another orthodontist suggested a second old fashioned "torture" device and a surgical procedure for my then 11 year old. Very long story short after 3 painful years of expensive treatment we had zero results. Dr. Gladwell was a blessing! During our first appointment Dr. Gladwell walked us through the entire process, explained everything and laid out the cost in explicit detail. He listened, answered all of my questioned and explained why previous treatment failed. He demonstrates a high level of current knowledge, compassion and skill. He gave us the option of Invisilign ( for about the same price as traditional braces) which we were originally told would never be possible! Dr. Gladwell is the area expert and trains others on this treatment. For a teenager, this is HUGE! Fast forward 1 year and 9 months; treatment is ahead of schedule, cost is as expected and I could not be happier with the professionalism of the staff. Appointments always run on time and the front office is helpful in the event of a reschedule. My only regret is not finding Gladwell Orthodontics sooner and saving my daughter the agony of her initial, outdated treatments. read more

We just started at Gladwell a few months ago. We were going to another orthodontist in Raleigh but it was too far to drive and I felt like their prices were too high. Went to a consultation at Gladwell and felt right at home and my son was able to get the Invisalign he wanted for no extra charge. As a previous employee.. This is one of the worst places I have ever worked. I was considered an Invisalign Speacialist (located in the malls) but I didn't have hardly any knowledge about the product due to the lack of training. I even went through Invisalign myself, and took the job thinking that I had plenty of knowledge..not hardly. The scan girls are expected to know EVERYTHING about anything, yet no training was provided. Always being harped on for getting our scan times down, but when we would suggest to have someone from Invisalign to train us, we weren't able to get that opportunity. ALWAYS left out of the loop of communication. Never included us in meetings, even since we were laid off due to COVID-19. Was never able to get a response from those in charge. Quickly made us feel like we weren't part of a team but we were taken advantage of all the time. When it was suggested that we go to offices for training during COVID-19, it was quickly turned down. We were just told to apply for unemployment and wait hoping we would have our jobs back. I turned in a two weeks notice and there was no reply. Very disrespectful and unprofessional. Never had the opportunity to voice concerns, the few times we would get a response, our words went through one ear and out the other. The doctors were always nice, and a few members of upper management were nice, but that's about it. Didn't see a whole lot of patient interaction since we were outcasts. Patients love them all, and that's great. This is not meant for them. As an ex-employee, I'm leaving this review in hopes that things will change for current scan center employees. Start including them, and making them feel like they are part of the team. COMMUNICATE. Let them know the updates within the company. They do just as much as all other essential employees. read more

I just finished my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Gladwell and am extremely happy with the results. I never had any braces as a kid and always considered my teeth to be relatively straight. However, as I got older my bite was causing my bottom teeth to become crowded and my dentist informed me this crowding was going to make it increasingly difficult to keep my teeth clean and healthy. Based on what was going on with my teeth and being an older patient, Invisalign was completely the right choice for me. Throughout the entire process from initial consult to my last appointment, Dr. Gladwell and the assistants were always available to answer any questions I had and made me feel comfortable with my experience. Given my busy travel schedule, I was pleasantly surprised that I never had any scheduling issues for my appointments and the many ways to be reminded were extremely helpful. My teeth look great and I'm so glad I decided to go to Gladwell Orthodontics for my treatment. I'd highly recommend DRG for your orthodontic care. read more
