On a recent trip to Montana, I made sure to visit Glacier Quilts in Kalispell. What a wonderful fabric/quilt/craft store! From the second you walk in the front door you are greeted by the lovely ladies offering to point you in the right direction. As I was looking for fabrics/panels/patterns that were unique to the area, and that I knew I could not get from home, I was looking at their selection of outdoor/wildlife panels. When the staff realized I was overwhelmed by the rows and rows of fabric choices, they brought out their "panel book" which had pictures of all their stock. organized by category- such a great idea! As I wandered through the store, picking up things along the way, the staff made sure to bring my choices back to a "waiting area" table with a "Still Shopping" sign on top so I did not have to carry everything with me and there was no rush or pressure to finish my shopping. I truly appreciated this! I noticed there was a large room in the back that was set up for classes, which I am sure are very popular. With so many craft & fabric stores going out of business or selling out to big-box stores where you lose the customer service, it was so nice to visit a store that still understands what their customers want! read more

While visiting Columbia Falls for the week in our RV with my brother and sIL I decided to visit Glacier Quilts. SIL and I took a drive to go to Target and Hobby Lobby and I saw Glacier Quilts and we decided to stop in on our way back to camp. We were warmly greeted as we walked into the store and asked if we needed any assistance. We declined. I was browsing with no project in mind. There was a huge area with beautiful flannels, a huge selection of batiks. Actually a huge selection of many fabrics. They also sell quilts. They sell Babylock machines so I had to check them out also and dream of my next machine. I decided on some adorable fabric to make a couple aprons for my great Niece. The employees there were very nice and helpful. Lots of fabric to browse through. I would highly recommend Glacier Quilts. read more

Wonderful quilt shop! Lots of variety & choices. I could have spent the whole day in there petting fabrics. Loved the Creative Grids ruler selection, sizes I didn't even knew existed. Tons of Batiks & panels to choose from. I highly recommend this quilt shop! read more

This shop is great. I went there on a recommendation from a a Facebook site I belong to in spite of the previous negative review and glad I did. Kathy and staff are very helpful and friendly Shop has lots of well organized current fabrics and sale items. Nice selection of wools notions and accessories along with baby lock machines. I love this store! The selection and inventory is unrivaled. Unlike the previous negative review, I've always experienced excellent customer service, and the staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I too have a next generation quilter, and my 7-year old has been welcome to explore the store by herself and play in the kids area. I've been coming to this store since shortly after it opened and I can honestly say I wouldn't be quilting if it weren't for this place. I'm a fan! read more

Went in on a Saturday, 5 people working and the place was empty, had 2 girls with that were unwelcome to wander the store. They are experienced quilters at 11. Multiple times they were reprimanded for pulling fabrics for a quilt and looking at machines by the owner. Also being asked to leave the kids corner and told to stand quietly next to their mother. We were openly whispered about by the staff as I too was looking for fabric. When approaching the owner about the situation she was defiant and unpleasant. Implying kids were not welcome. The quilting industry has an inherent problem with the next generation not being exposed and interested in creating beautiful works of art. This store doesn't foster the next generation of quilters. I've been sewing for years and a quilter. I live in Southern California and try to visit Quilt stores wherever I go. I have been to this store on several occasions and found it to be simply filled with anything you could possible need in ideas, patterns, fabrics galore. The staff is friendly and really know there stuff in order to help you. I had a photo of a pattern with no information they researched their brains and found the exact pattern in a pattern book. Happy to be here. Don't hesitate for one second to come here because of the disgruntled review ahead of me. There was a customer with two small girls ages between 6 mo and 3 years old that were well behaved and not distruptive in line ahead of me.
