Ordered entrees and the social platter which is a platter of various bbq (ribs, brisket, steak, etc.) and came with corn bread and Mac and cheese. The food was below average. Overall Convenient but the food / experience wasn't great.

Altitude Restaurant and her sister restaurant, Chalet, are part of the Glacier View Lodge…read more Altitude offers breakfast, a lunch buffet, and table service dinner, while Chalet is more of casual grab and go spot. We decided to try Altitude and stopped in for an early dinner. As one of the first customers we had a choice of tables and selected one of the many that had windows looking out to the beauty that is Canada, mountains and the Athabasca Glacier. You don't get that kind of view in Florida, that's for sure. This has been a great vacation so far. I started with their Mushroom Bisque followed by their Short Rib. It wasn't a great meal but a good one. The bisque was a bit bland but the quantity was there, I was satisfied. Same for the short rib, could have had more flavor and be juicier, but it was fine. After a day of Icefield Parkway awe with many miles (err, kilometers) yet to go before reaching Jasper, this was a welcomed break. Service was friendly and attentive, we were well taken care of as we enjoyed our visit.

The Altitude Restaurant has a full buffet that can pretty much satisfy most appetites. It has plenty of cold salads, hot entrees, desserts and beverages. Would recommend to others visiting the area.

Also had the barbecue elk ribs. They were highly recommended by our server, but frankly they were OK at best in my opinion. I would give dinner a three star at best for the food. It is delicious and I highly recommend this for lunch. My wife had the French onion soup and the fish and chips. They were probably the best fish and chips I've ever tasted and she agreed. Very different very light batter and they use a special technique. I cannot recall. I think they're a must try and I highly recommend them. I would give lunch five stars!

She was too busy chatting with the bartender. Our food was served warm, so at least she served our food timely. I was so impressed with my salmon filet and potato & spinach tart! They were both sooooo good, I think my husband was jealous of my menu choice. He had the crispy fried oyster mushrooms burger with their soup of the day, chickpea marsala. He said his was good, but he was not overwhelmed like I was. We ordered the molten cake for dessert. My oh my, was it delicious! So dense and quality dark chocolate...yum! It was accompanied with vanilla bean ice cream with a melted chocolate on top that made a hard shell, strawberry slices and a s'more on a stick. Soooo frickin good! Compliments to the chef! Never imagined I'd be served such amazing cuisine at a lake Lodge. Overall I would definitely be back to eat their food, but servers could take a lesson in hospitality.
