At one end of the Les Halles food market is Giraudet, one of the only food stalls serving prepared quenelles, which are dumplings made by boiling a batter of flour mixed with various other ingredients, including fish and meat. There are only a few bar seats around the small stall, and the servers running the place were so friendly and helpful. For lunch, I ordered the set menu that came with a large soup and fried rounds of quenelle on the side. The soup I selected was a deliciously creamy mushroom soup, which was fresh, hearty, and warming. I also tried the large salad with quenelle, which consisted of greens, confit tomatoes, and parmesan cheese, all tossed in a simple vinaigrette. The crawfish quenelle rounds almost acted like croutons with a deep seafood flavor! The set menu also came with a dessert selection, and I got the berry financier, a tiny baked cake that was doughy and not overly sweet. Overall, a nice place for a fresh, quality lunch, though the prices were high for the portion sizes. You can also buy a selection of the quenelles and soups refrigerated to take home! read more
