The location can't be beat. The hotel is just a short distance away from the Neuschwanstein Castle…read more One of the highlights of the hotel is their made-to-order breakfast, a delicious way to start the day before heading out sightseeing or otherwise enjoying the surroundings. The rooms were well-maintained and everything from the bed to the bathroom was pristine. One aspect that really impressed me was the front desk staff. They arranged castle tour tickets for us. Just ask at check in and they will have them for you the next morning. As for transportation, getting to the castle was easy. Either walk, take the bus, or a horse and carriage ride. Just a heads-up, the horse and carriage only accepts cash. Unfortunately, the hotel's ATM was out of order during our stay, but there was one located close to the ticket booth. Also, I recommend making the short drive to Füssen. It's a charming spot with little shops, good food, and great views of the mountains. Pro tip: take a pretzel from breakfast and enjoy it with a view of the castle

Yelp Review 2023 #301:…read more Located in Schwangau, you can walk to Hohenschwangau Castle from here or drive a few minutes or catch a bus to Neuschwenstein Castle. You won't find a more convenient location than this. Close to the Germany-Austria border. Actually, you can get to 2 different countries from here in less than a 2-hour drive: Lichtenstein and Austria (Innsbruck). The room is pretty basic and outdated but what you're paying for is the convenience and the location. The same thing can be said about the bathroom. It is tiled but at least it's spacious and has everything you need. You're paying about $150/ night. You can take a day trip many different places from here. You can get to Oberammergau in an hour by car. You can rent a boat at Alpsee. Aside from the great location, they have a restaurant that has good food and lots of delicious cakes and desserts. The restaurant has a nice view of Hohenschwangau Castle. There's not a lot of restaurants in the area.

We were staying up the road and decided to walk down and have dinner here. I am going to admit…read moreright off that one of the main factors in this choice was that they had a salad buffet/bar and I was dying for some veggies as I felt that was something that I wasn't getting a ton of in my meals since we'd been abroad. The view from the inside dining room was so nice of the surrounding mountains. We had a table right by the windows. We actually had a whole room to ourselves, as they weren't super busy. Our waiter (older gentlemen) was really good and attentive. He wouldn't bother us but would dip in the room to see if we needed water, etc... I had the salad bar which had a few types of lettuce, cakes, tomato, beets, etc...A few different prepared salads, such as potato, coleslaw. There were a few breads to slice and then a platter of approx 10 types of cheese. We then both had the Ox steak - it was very tender and tasty. It was cooked as I requested (Rare). I had the parsley potato side and my husband had the baked potatoes. NOTE that the baked potato is not like in the US - it is NOT a whole potato that is baked. They were what I would call roasted potatoes. Peeled and cut up and then cooked - they were really good. There is a scoop of sour cream on top - note for anyone who doesn't like/eat that. We had no dessert since we were stuffed. I can't even remember the total but it was really reasonable. I feel like it was 90 or 100 euro and that included a tip. Salad bar (unlimited trips) was 5.50 each. I had a prosecco before which was a small bottle, that was 11. We would definitely return here.
