Very Disappointed tonight. I have been ordering from here for 5 years, but I think I won't be giving Giovanni further business. I ordered a black olive and jalapeño pie at 8:30pm, I included the time to illustrate it wasn't that late as to excuse what I was served for my family. Picture below. I lifted the slice and the overabundance of toppings just fell off, as if a pre-made plain pie was topped, then placed in the oven for 3 minutes, and then taken out. Just awful. Why did this happen @Giovanni? You guys are better than this.

Pizza is a solid 9/10. I think Cheeto would give it a 10/10.

i got a sausage pepper onion pizza for $34.50. The sauce had no flavor, no tomato chuncks, not very much sausage on it, but a lot of cheese, which made it difficult to eat because with every bite, it slid off the Pizza. Very disappointing. read more

We used to frequent this location, and after taste testing pizzas in the area we found these guys to be the best pizza for the cost. Unfortunately we saw a recent health inspection and now call this restaurant the "parakeet place" when we pass it. Among other unsanitary findings, we found the parakeet in the kitchen disturbing. While parakeets are cute little birds, we don't want to risk bird excrement and feathers among our cooked food. (An update on how the bird is doing would be appreciated). read more

Food was delicious, service was great, and we ate outside. We frequently have lunch or an early supper there. This place has the best pizza in Allentown. Ambiance is fine. The staff is friendly and welcoming to everyone. This restaurant is family run in a city neighborhood. They make you feel like family when you're there. read more

Ordered delivery from my hotel. Waited in lobby for 1 hour. THEY NEVER SHOWED!!!! Front desk called them and they said the delivery driver was calling me. Well he never did because I had my cell phone with me. Then they cussed out the front desk clerk for no reason. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS. read more

Got this place from a suggestion of a work mate and with my continuing struggle to find a decent pizza place in Allentown, this place was suprisingly pretty good. Ingredients pretty fresh with a good crust. The sauce need some extra seasoning, but overall Giovanni's makes a pretty good pie. Staff was efficient and friendly. Not the best pizza I found in Allentown, but definitely in the top 3. Enjoy!! read more

Have always loved this pizza shop UNTIL today. !! ....BAD experience !! Ordered two pizzas online. Went to pick up in person and our bill was $8.00 more than prices shown on website. We questioned why and were told they know prices are higher but cannot fix website. NOT a good answer. Were told they are trying to fix it. Told girl we want it adjusted and we got attitude! Everything is made well with fresh, quality ingredients. The pizzas are excellent - the bruschetta is my favorite. Lots of toppings, made with care. The cheesesteaks are amazing and the quality of the roll was impressive. I don't bother going anywhere else. read more

This was previously Penn Pizza before being bought and changed to Giovanni's. While Penn Pizza was delicious in the beginning, they quickly went downhill and got very crappy. However, Giovanni's doesn't disappoint. I've had several things from here now, from simple pizza, to calamari, to shrimp scampi and a bunch of other things and nothing has been a disappointment yet. Everything is always served hot and fresh and very tasty. Service is always excellent too. I also have never waited long for food, whether I call an order for pick-up, or come over and sit at a table. I haven't ordered anything for delivery yet simply because I live literally right across street. I would highly recommend to anyone. Truly not one negative thing about this place. read more

The Lehigh Valley boasts some of the best pizza joints in the country. My understanding at 65 is NYC pizza is the best. Must be 5he water. However, Giovanni's stands as one of my favorites in the Lehigh Valley. I will highly recommend them. read more

Wasn't the worst pizza I have had, but wasn't my favorite either. The crust had a burnt taste to it and that was about the only flavor it had. We got pepperoni and pineapple, which we love, but this was meh. Disappointed. read more

Third pizza place we tried in Allentown tonight. I won't trash the others but we were really happy when we finally got home with pizza and a cheese steak from Giovanni's. The pizza was really great. I tried a slice of white pizza with sliced tomatoes on top and a slice of something they called a "California" which tasted like a gyro - best bite of the night! Giovanni's was clean and bright on this dreary January night. The staff seemed happy and were very friendly. We prefer garlic knots with big chunks of fresh garlic but that was really our only negative comment about the whole experience. Would definitely go there again when craving a unique and delicious slice of pizza! read more

Don't live far from this place, used to be penn pizza. They really made the business look great and whenever I'm having a lazy day and don't want to cook I usually get a plain pie and anti pasta salad from here, never have to wait long and food is always consistent! read more

Giovanni's is the best, family owned pizza shop in town. The pizza has a ton of flavor, served piping hot (even when delivered), and the cheese fries are good also. Their calamari is a little pricey for a small pizza shop but it is very good! Last time I ordered "eat-in," they offered cannolis on the house! They have decent service and many things to order. You won't be disappointed! read more

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.

The fish was moist and flakey, the shrimp tender, and the mushrooms plump and juicy. The seafood filling they used tasted like a mix between a crabcake and crab dip. There was too much for my taste on the shrimp and mushrooms, so I scraped some off and reserved it to eat later as a snack with ritz crackers. The meal also came with the soup and salad bar where there were a variety of soups to chose from, and everything in the salad bar was fresh and crisp. On our last visit, our group waited nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive. During that time, the table was completely empty except for water and place settings. When food is going to take longer than usual, it would make a big difference to bring something small to the table, even pappadums or another light starter, just to keep guests happy and occupied. It would also help if someone came over to apologize, give an update, and let guests know how much longer the food may take. Also, the cold plastic plates should really be upgraded. They feel cheap and tacky, and hot food should not be served onto cold plastic plates. Real plates would immediately improve the presentation and overall dining experience. The main dining room could use more warmth and charm. Right now, it feels a bit sparse and not especially cozy. But the room you first enter is in much greater need of attention. Honestly, it feels rather depressing to eat in that area. It would not have to break the bank to make it warmer and more inviting. A little decor, better lighting, warmer colors, or even a few thoughtful touches would go a long way. Right now, it just feels like very little effort was made in that space and that it's just a path to the cash register. One final suggestion: when it is time to pay, please do not stand over guests while they review the bill and decide on a tip. It feels uncomfortable.
