I rarely write reviews, and when I do it's usually because I've had an exceptional experience. Unfortunately, this was the opposite. The first disappointment was that this restaurant still advertises itself online as BYOB. We arrived with our favorite bottle of red wine only to be told they no longer allow BYOB. Normally, that wouldn't have been an issue--we would have happily ordered wine from the restaurant. The problem was the beverage selection. They handed us a drink menu that offered essentially one very inexpensive wine option, with no cocktails or meaningful wine selection. If you're going to eliminate BYOB, that's completely understandable--but you should offer a beverage program that justifies the change. The food experience didn't improve things. We ordered several hot sandwiches, which apparently meant the complimentary garlic bread was no longer included. Instead, we were charged an additional $6 for garlic bread and a small side of sauce. What arrived was one tiny piece of bread that was barely buttered and hardly resembled garlic bread at all. Charging extra for something that underwhelming was honestly surprising. To make matters worse, our waiter got our order wrong and then charged us for his mistake. Overall, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Between the misleading BYOB advertising, the poor drink options, the disappointing garlic bread, and the billing error, we won't be returning. It's a shame, because this used to be one of our favorite places. read more

I was in this area for work. This place came highly recommended. I decided to judge them on their most basic slice of pizza. Believe me when I say there ain't nothing wrong with their Sicilian slice. It had a good combination of robust sauce flavor with just the right amount of crust crispness. read more

Returned and had a PERFECT experience! Lobster Dip- hot, creamy, cheesy, little bit sweet, little spicy served w/ triangles of toasted pita. Meatball Parmigiana Sandwich- good-sized meatballs, red sauce, on tender toasted roll under a thick blanket of cheese! It was really, really good! Pepperoni Calzone- this baby had some heft! Extra heavy dose of GOOD-QUALITY cheese w/ pepperonis throughout, marinara on side, crispy edges, golden brown top, bottom that stood up pretty well to weighty ingredients. But the c'est une tuerie was the Cheese Sacchetti. Have Italian mother-in-law who will only eat ricotta straight from container- despising grainy, dry texture that sometimes happens once baked inside stuffed pasta. The sweet, soft, milky texture of ricotta was maintained during cooking process; fresh pasta purses w/ best cheese filling I've ever had, tossed in Rosa sauce, generous serving, especially for a filled pasta! "Side" salads packed to go- super fresh lettuce popping out the container- huge! Our waitress Jenny showed attention to every detail, from how I wanted leftovers packed, to being sure every dish was brought out at its peak (no food sitting around under heat lamp). Can't account for why experience was so much better this time, but to say Chef Marco was in driver seat & some staff just prepare dishes w/ a little more perfection. Could tell Jenny really wanted us to love this meal so maybe her oversight helped as well. Italian heaven. Will be here on the regular if this is maintained. read more

Giovanni's 724 is the Goat for cheese steaks, They are not shy on their portions of meat! Every bite was as good as the previous ones. Ive given Giovanni's 5 stars because overall they nail it every time....they provide real value at a time when everything is so damn expensive. Yeah it might cost $15 for a cheese steak but you're getting your moneys worth! I always get take out so i cant vouch for the service eating inside but take out is always fast and friendly, ive never waited more than a couple of mins which is always nice! read more

I was in town visiting and wanted a local restaurant to try and I'm glad I found Giovanni's. I ordered the 12" Personal Margherita Pizza and it hit the spot! The pizza had great flavor and had a crispy crust. I also ordered a Cannoli which was equally as tasty. Pizza here is so delicious. Wow! We love the white spinach pie. I love how serious they take gluten free and even give you your own pizza cutter. We've gotten take out and dined in. Both have been great woth excellent service and quality. Also got their carrot cake which was fabulous. They have so many homemade treats. Would definitely recommend. read more

EXTREMELY disappointed in the experience. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day about a week in advance. We arrived about 10 minutes before the reservation time and there was absolutely NO parking available. The lot is WAY too small for the size of the restaurant and their apparently very busy take-out service. We ended up parking across the street at some private bus business. Before going, I scoured the website looking for wine, beer or cocktails and I consulted ChatGPT. All indications were that they do not serve alcohol, so we brought a bottle of wine. When we entered there appeared to be confusion at the host/hostess stand. Eventually a lady appeared and began to help out. After I checked in, she saw the wine I was holding and told me they were "no longer BYOB." I said, "You're web site doesn't make any indication of that." She replied that they had changed their website. While we waited, I looked again and saw no indication of any alcohol availability. Next, as we waited a very young (high school aged) couple approached for their reservation. She told them since they were late for their reservation, it might take a few extra minutes before they could be seated as their original table had been given to the next reservation. When we were seated, it was at a TINY table right in the middle of the main aisle to the back dining room. Just moments later the couple above was seated at a spacious booth RIGHT across the aisle from us. Turns out the "hostess" was our waitress. She took our order. Our drinks came timely, but it seemed a while until our salads came. After finishing our salads, we WAITED, and WAITED, and WAITED for our entrees. She made some comment about the same station producing pasta and seafood and somehow that's why our chicken dishes were slow. HUH??? It was about 45 minutes when my wife saw her and asked her again. Shortly she returned with our dishes. I ordered Chicken Picatta and to my surprise it had mushrooms in it. I have had this dish many times at many places and NEVER had mushrooms before, and I HATE THEM. I picked them out and ate the food. It had almost no lemon taste, which is typically another hallmark of chicken picatta. It was served on fettucini which was dry and without flavor. I don't plan on returning. I advise you don't either. read more

very disappointed this time. Entrees were bland. garlic Bread is just a sandwich roll with spread on it. We asked about bottles of wine. If you are going to serve wine they need to step up the game. Menu is very vague. Tells you types, not the winery or price. Waiter didn't know either. Finally we just said either Pinot Noir or a Cab. He brought a bottle of Pinot Noir, but it on the table, does bother to open or pour. A large clump of sugar was at the bottom of the bottle. I won't mention the winery but it is local. read more

The portions are so big that I literally get three meals out of every dish I order. There is a family feel at Giovanni's that is so real and inviting. One of the things that I like the most about Giovanni's is that it very much feels like an old time, community diner. It is not pretentious, it doesn't set out to create culinary works of art. Instead, it provides a variety of approachable and tasty Italian favorites, with a ridiculously large menu that can satisfy everyone in your group, at a fair price that doesn't break the bank. Whether you're in the mood for pizza, pasta, or an offering of shared appetizers, the food is very well priced, enjoyable, and served in very large portions. In fact, you may want to consider splitting some dishes if you are in a smaller group or not quite as hungry. For example, a personal size pizza can easily be split between two adults. The appetizers are good enough, and hearty enough, to serve as the main entrée. I love seeing Fried Zucchini on the menu. I feel like fewer and fewer places offer this one-time staple. The pizza is nice and cheesy, with a soft (but not soggy) crust. The shrimp fra diavolo is the perfect amount of spicy, with perfectly cooked shrimp. The kids offerings, including pizza slices are very generous. The appetizers are some good ol, fried comfort food. We came away stuffed and had a whole second meal of leftovers the next day. The staff is incredibly friendly, very engaging and attentive to all customers. It's really nice to go into a place and feel like the staff really wants to provide an amazing experience for customers. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a diner type vibe, it's very lively, and very welcoming in addition to being warm and inviting. You instantly feel at ease and that you're already a repeat customer. Again, it's the little things that set a dining experience apart. The owner of Giovanni's is also very community minded and supportive of local families. It's always a pleasure to come out and to support him and his team. They do right by their community. this place was soooo good. biggest portion of italian food i have EVER had!! the sicilian board was heavenly as the pesto was homemade and every ingredient was so fresh. I ordered the drunken chicken parm with fettuccine and omg so much chicken, so much cheese, and that vodka sauce is TO DIE FOR!! my friend got a seafood manicotti in a rosa sauce and the rosa sauce was also very good! highly recommend this place but beware you will have leftovers for days read more

No longer BYOB. We've been local customers since the place opened. Our favorite part of the place was the BYOB option. They were rude when we arrived and sat with our usual bottle, like we should have known it's been weeks since the change. Their wine by the glass "list" leaves a lot to be desired, and that's being kind. The waitress said it comes in a cask? We weren't offered a corkage fee option. Honestly, we didn't ask because we figured they'd have no idea what were were suggesting. Maybe us long time customers should be grandfathered in. We'll just find another place. Shame. read more

Had the pizza here twice so far, both times to go. Thicker crust than I prefer, but a solid pizza with good toppings and sauce. When I went to pickup the pizza I also noticed a variety of cookies they were offering, 3 for 5 bucks. Don't shy away from the price until you pick up the container and see how heavy these are! I got the Smore's and they were fantastic! I'll definitely be having them again. Tight parking on a Friday night, but we got in and out quick. Head into the main counter for pickups, the front counter is a hostess station. When you order they give you a number. When you pickup you give them the number. Works well! Think we were one of four tables. Staff seemed indifferent and not really caring if we were there or not. This was exemplified with the service. Food took a while to come out. Asked for a refill for my soda and she didn't come back until after she served our food (again, which took a while to come out) and I had to remind her. I'm not exactly sure what else was happening that preoccupied her time or the rest of the staff because again there was no one really there... And there were at least seven people behind the counter if not more, presumably due to having takeout orders. Meatballs were good with flavor but the sauce was cold. But if the sauce was warm they would have been delicious no doubt but come on man, cold sauce? The pizza I'm sorry to say tasted no better or different than a Papa John's or dominoes. Crust was hard and flavor somewhat bland. Not going back. Too many other pizza places. read more

So good! We haven't been there in several years & decided on stopping in today for a late lunch. Italian hoagie was huge & full of delicious meats, sharp provolone and fresh veg. They even had hot pepper hoagie spread that just kicked it over the top! Turkey club that my husband had was also wonderful and my kid loved the pizza! I had a delicious chicken, mozzarella and pesto panini today. The Caesar salad was fresh with fine slices of Parmesan cheese and flavorful dressing. My husband enjoyed his generous and tasty steak calzone with mushrooms. My only suggestion would be to include some sauce. We usually do take out from Giovanni's. It's always good and for about the last year or so has also been consistent. We like their pizzas, steaks, desserts, and many of the pasta dishes. Actually, we have never had anything disappointing! If you ever get any dessert invest in a cream puff...TDF for sure! Only down side is, that they are pricey. One of the best places in the Pottstown area for a great meal. Portions are fantastic. We rarely leave without "doggie bags" for lunch the next day. Service is always exceptional. We tried Giovanni's for the first time last night and we're very impressed. First, the food: The menu is very varied and interesting and the portions were very generous. The food was served hot and timely. My eggplant parm and spaghetti was very good and my husband raved about his stomboli. The service: our waitress (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was friendly prompt, and attentive. Ambience: We were seated in the small room at the front of the restaurant which was very nicely appointed, cozy and comfortable. Service Ordered online from the Express restaurant. Wife went to pick it up, wasn't ready as promised, fine. Waited twenty more minutes still wasn't ready, asked for a refund because the other items never made it to the kitchen. Was told they couldn't issue a refund for the un-made items. Young women working the counter were more interested in having a conversation with each other than working. Hope they have their act together before trying to do this as a drive thru because tonight was a cluster. Went here on a Saturday night. Very busy. The bread is great. I had a chicken dish with prosciutto and cheese in a brown sauce. It was delicious, if a bit salty. The portions are very generous, which means leftovers for me! Yay! The cheesecake and cannoli were also very good. The live entertainment was loud and not exactly necessary in my opinion, but lots of others enjoyed it. It would not prevent me from going back. It is BYOB as well.
