Now several reasons for the rating - 1) the hostess who seated us and all of the servers had no energy or smile. It literally felt like they were forced to be there 2) absolutely no help with the menu 3) we got vegan dim sums , bao and ramen. All of the bao, dim sums and noodles were uncooked. And there was no soy or any other sauce available for the dimsums or bao. Would not recommend this place at all.

The interior and decor of this place seemed really cute. The restaurant opens at 8pm and we got there around 8:30pm. The place was already packed and so we waited about 10-15 mins to be seated. The menu is pretty simple. They even have English menu on the backside. We decided on the #Huangbrothers Bao and #Keepitreal ramen. The Bao were pretty good although I would leave the pickles out of it next time. It was a weird mix. The real loser of the meal was the Ramen. The pork bone broth was underwhelming and my noodles were undercooked. I decided to take a chance and bit into the block of noodle but realized quickly that was a bad idea. When the server asked me if the meal was okay I pointed to the block of undercooked noodles and she just smiled and nodded. I blame the language barrier. Would probably skip this place next time. Don't be fooled by its cute interior.

Don't get me wrong, it is very authentic tasting and the waiters/waitresses don't speak Japanese but seem to understand very well, for example when I asked for the shichi-mi. But they seem to prefer to reply in English. The food is very good and cheap for a Japanese style restaurant, but it is not the kind of place I would take people for "settai" or for business dinners. I would definitely recommend it to anybody who wanted to try Japsnese style food that is NOT sushi or sashimi. I have not tried their fish, so I cannot comment on that.

The restaurant is small and sports a modest front but the food is amazing. They have ramen, sushi, teppanyaki and bento box style lunches. Beer and wine are available. I had a mixed salad which was huge and a good mix of crisp, fresh vegetables. I also had the braised tofu which was perfectly done with a load of sautéed vegetables and a delicious brown sauce on it. The service was attentive and friendly, though knowing enough Spanish to communicate with the wait staff would be most advantageous. We were able to get by with our limited phrases. Ichisou is a bit of a hole in the wall - you might accidentally pass it on the street if you weren't looking for it. Open since the 50s and passed down from generation to generation, this restaurant serves classic Japanese cuisine in a city where this type of food is scarce. We started off the meal with a complimentary raw fish with onion dish and a shot of plum wine. I was able to try the following dishes: -- salmon sashimi and sushi roll: the salmon pieces here were DELICIOUS! I highly recommend getting raw fish. The pieces were thick and fresh. -- agedashi tofu: flavors were good but I wish they used a silkier tofu -- kimchi: apparently Ichisou gets a lot of Korean customers as well, the kimchi is very good and just the right amount of spice and crunch -- vegetable and shrimp tempura: great! Could be crispier -- ebifurai (fried prawn): I liked this better than the shrimp tempura but I thought this could also be more crispy -- chicken karaage (fried chicken): this was the only item I did not like. They came as strange chicken lollipops and were rather dry -- chawansumi (steamed egg): yum! Wish I ordered more of this. -- matcha ice cream: I do not recommend this. The matcha tasted strange, it might be because the richness of Argentinian milk overpowers the delicate matcha flavor. -- chocolate cake: I do recommend this, delicious! I thought most everything I had was really good. I wanted to try more sashimi but Ichisou only had salmon during my visit. It seems that they were busy during the holiday season since they ran out of ginger as well.

It's got a lot of cool decorations inside, and even has an area with tatami mats (no shoes allowed, of course). The food itself is pretty solid.
