Ginger House is among our small collection of restaurants in Salisbury on our "preferred" list. It is one that we refer friends and family to for a reliable quality experience. Our most recent visit demonstrates: Meal for two included the featured "Oh My God Roll." Upon serving wifey and I spontaneously exclaimed "Oh My God!" Its presentation was beautifully artistic. The unique combination of ingredients was amazing - each part such as salmon or shrimp offering well-defined unique flavor, yet the roll combination with other ingredients resulted in a collective flavor and mouth feel that was both satisfying yet leaving us wanting more. This is a dangerous combination for those seeking to minimize caloric intake. Sigh. Well, we tucked into the OMG roll before taking a photo so images presented only show a portion. Yes, the pieces are huge! It was tempting to devour a single piece in one bite, yet that is not our style. We carry a special pocket-knife for such situations to carve and share bite-sized pieces. If you wish, the kitchen can provide a sharp knife for this purpose. Note: Rice is an overlooked major contributor to a roll's success. In the case, it was delicately sweet with optimal (to us) chew that made it worth eating alone. Yum! Also - The Ginger House is exceptionally generous with wasabi and picked ginger condiments. Wow! Half the portions offered would have been more than sufficient for us. We hated to see anything wasted, even these items, so we took a lot home, but not everything. The OMG roll alone was sufficient for a normal meal, however we enthusiastically over-ordered by adding a Sexy roll, an order of House Lo Mein, and a Chirashi with salad and hot soup. Most of these added dishes were packaged to take away! With water to drink, the total bill was $94 plus tip. This was a reasonable price for us as with leftovers two of us enjoyed three meals each (6 total)! Results for others will vary of course. Hint: If dining in, order conservatively as you can always ask for more, or make a separate order for take away. The dining area was clean and service by Collean was pleasant and professional. I especially appreciated her constant smile and willingness to laugh genuinely at our corny jokes. The atmosphere is tastefully Asian influenced. Booth seat cushions were soft yet resilient, and the glass partitions offer some sense or privacy yet they did not offer exceptional sound deadening as details of nearby conversations were detectable. The restrooms were clean and free parking was ample in the strip mall lot. Overall, this seems a reliable place for family gatherings, business meetings, or even a date. The menu is sufficiently varied to accommodate vegetarians, and based on our questions the kitchen staff are capable magicians who enjoy experimentation and accommodating special requests. I didn't expect this place to be so alive on a Christmas evening. But the tables were filled, music vibing, and warm cheer filled the air. This was definitely the spot to be. Takoyaki , fresh, seasoned but the shredded fish takes over the sauce, so sprinkle a little off and you'll be greeted by squishy exterior with a hot and creamy burst of pure bliss Teriyaki skewers lightly crisp trim, every bite is filed with a burst of flavor of sawwwwwcean amazing appetizer 6 for yourself or a perfect 3 for 3 if you bring a partner. Strawberry daiquiri it's a bit zesty but it was so good I forgot to take a pic Hot tea, General tso spicy, crunchy, fresh! Flavor! Ginger House is really good. Food came out quick and was hot. Everything that I ordered was fresh and delicious. Above average Asian Cuisine, but at the price point, it lacks the quality to put it over the edge. Service was good, our waitress was kind, and never let our drinks go below half full. The restaurant's exterior does not look the greatest, however the inside is cozy, warm, and inviting. Overall a great experience. read more

We were a party of 7 and an infant. The place was very nice. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and so helpful and patient. The fried rice was so delish, I could have ordered that by itself. I do wish they had a better seat for our baby's car seat. read more

Sadly this place missed the mark. The place looks nice and the staff was nice as well, but that's where the good things end. It's pretty pricy but that wouldn't matter if the food was worth it. But it wasn't. We ordered Mongolian Beef and Szechuan Beef, and it should have been called Mongolian Onion and Szechuan Vegetables. The "beef" was laughably missing. There was probably 3 Tablespoons of shredded beef for each dish. For almost $40 with tip for lunch for 2, this wasn't acceptable. I had high hopes but we won't be back. read more

I would have given 0 stars if I could. I walked in at about 5:00 pm to check out the carry out menu. It was my birthday and I thought I'd get myself a celebratory cocktail while I waited for my order which I never got an opportunity to place. I was given a menu at the cash register and then sat at the bar. Young man behind the bar on his cell. I had to interrupt him to ask about the cocktails. I asked him the ingredients in one and I could not comprehend his accent, which never happens to me. I asked about another and he was clueless. He asked the lady at the register then tried to tell me about it and then turned and totally ignored me. So did the young lady. No, have you decided? No, can I offer a suggestion, I was the only one sitting there and, No nothing! I will never go back and was highly disappointed. I ended up taking McDonalds home. At least I saved money!! For years my husband and I loved the Ginger House, but since his death I have not been there.....until two days ago. I placed an order online for an egg roll, General Tso's Chicken and Kung Pao Shrimp. I picked it up at the required time and it was totally cold. (I live less than two miles from the restaurant.) The chicken was so tough I could not eat it, I ordered fried rice with it, but it was regular rice. The Kung Pao Shrimp had only five miniscule shrimp and the vegetables were basically raw. The egg roll was good. I ended up throwing $41 worth of food in the garbage. Will I ever go there again....a resounding NO! read more

We ordered carryout and just threw away $40. We knew as soon as we opened the containers Overpriced and food was terrible, Lo Mein had mushy noodles and very few small shrimp. Service is always very slow, seems like no one has a definitive job until someone walks in & everyone scrambles to figure out how to deal with customers. We were seated and served relatively quickly, but when we were waiting for the check, we had to ask a different server to get it for us as we hadn't even seen our waitress in 10+ minutes. Service could be much better especially since it's never super busy. The food is very, very average chinese food. We got spring rolls (meh) and vegetable fried rice (double meh) which was mushrooms, corn, carrots, broccoli, and cabbage. It wasn't impressive at all, barely any soy sauce on the rice so it tasted like slimy nothingness. We paid $26 plus tip.... which seems really high for what we got. I would much rather go to Hunan for better quality food and better service. Plus don't come here if you don't like eating in pitch black darkness. read more

Many things we liked, but some things we were not a fan of. Liked: steamed gyoza, Vietnamese cha gio spring rolls, miso soup, Chinese food entrees, spicy tuna roll. Dislike: special sushi rolls (they are way too big and poorly presented), nigiri (fish was cut too thickly), mixed drinks were weak and expensive. The service was good, as was the ambiance. I ordered $85.00 worth of GARBAGE. Oops I take that back. The sugar donuts were good. I ended up paying $20.50/ ($10 extra for nuttn) for what Ginger house calls shrimp fried rice with 3 times xtra shrimp and sprouts. 12 small shrimp is what they we got, total and no sprouts at all. Something they call spring roll's, I ordered egg roll's. Sesame chicken tasted like soap and did not look at all like chicken. I also ordered a pork fried rice and it looked like something I cant even explain. Sushi was OK but didn't get the amount that I usually get for the same order. A FEW MORE ISSUES. I've gotten from here many times, first time was great but each time it gets worse and worse. I continue to order hoping to get a meal like my first one but after this one I will not be ordering again. I couldn't even bring myself to eat the food. A big waste of my money, no one ate anything. I am staying in Salisbury on business. I have come here twice now in two days with my co-workers. The Chinese food is amazing and so filling. We had orange chicken, onion soup, wonton soup, kung pow chicken, egg rolls and there fried dumplings. All the food has been amazing and very tasty. Good price and good portion. The only sad spot I had was with the sushi. The rice is a bit stiff and not as sticky and moist as I usually like it. The spicy tuna was the best I had of the two I got. The eel roll was very little eel and with the rice it was only so so. The food is still good but again it could of just been that batch made. read more

Went here after it was open for two weeks and tried out 2 sushi rolls so I could test the freshness in the fish. I was blown away with the first bite. No fishy smell, no mush texture or odd coloring. It was perfect. Usually I go to Ikebana but I can say this place is now my new fave! It's beautiful inside and very friendly staff. I also love how they don't charge for extra sauces like some places. They don't have a problem customizing a order for you either. Anyone who is into Japanese,Thai, and Chinese needs to definitely try this place. read more

This place was terribly. The restaurant itself looked recently redone, and the area was definitely very clean. The shrimp dishes were terrible - in fact they all looked to have the same ingredients (shrimp, celery, and carrots) - and were just seasoned differently. I got the pepper shrimp, expecting it to be similar to a pepper steak entree, only to find that they literally steamed some of that shrimp concoction and sprinkled black pepper on top. I ended up sending that dish back to the kitchen. The manager and waitress both insisted that these dishes were good, and that each restaurant makes things differently. While I understood that, the food definitely was lacking. It seems that the sushi here is popular, so if I do ever return, I'll perhaps give that a go. read more

The first time we tried this was about 3 months ago when we were in Salisbury for job interviews. It was really good, especially compared to the sad Asian food we were having to endure in Utah. We have now moved here and tried it again today and once again they hit it out of the park. The Basil Beef is delicious and I highly recommend it. Actually everything we have tried has been delicious and of good quality. The only thing I didn't love was the egg roll but I think that was mostly because it was really different than what I am used to for an egg roll. It wasn't bad just wasn't my thing. This is my husband's FAVORITE place to go, its definitely in my top 3. They have the best onion soup in town and the sushi is always really good. They have a good specials if you can get there for lunch. Otherwise, the prices are still good. I usually spend maybe $20 for an entire meal. You can eat there or order takeout which is nice. This is not the place to get your Chinese take-out. The food was ok, but the Chinese selections are few and the price tag far too high!

This establishment has no worry about anyone's food allergies!!! Have called and asked more than once to have item's in separate containers. Yet on different occasions have had issues with them combining everything into one. Would highly recommend everyone to CHECK your food when you pick it up!! My go-to place for Chinese food in Salisbury. The food is invariably good , the service unerringly perfect, portions generous and prices reasonable. I tend to go for their Chinese food, their chicken fried rice, Kung Pao chicken and Szechuan chicken are to die for. Have tried their sushi on a couple of occasions and thought found it passable. Have had some of the Thai dishes on their menu but don't think Thai food is their claim to fame. read more

This is not a place to get Chinese food, despite the outward appearance of being a primarily Chinese restaurant; I would describe the Chinese dishes as terrible. They have okay Japanese style things - the sushi at least seems fine, though on the expensive side. The Thai things are probably a little better than Chinese, but not good. When I went in group who ordered different things, the main Chinese dish my wife and I ordered was mapo tofu, for which we had low expectations, as I very rarely find real mapo tofu in America, but it was soft tofu with frozen peas and carrots in an disgusting onion flavored brown gloop (which was most of the mass of the dish) - we got it because it was the only thing with tofu, which tells you how vegetarian friendly the place is. Another person with us ordered basil chicken, which I guess falls under Thai food. It had two pieces of basil, a few pieces of chicken, in brown gloop similar to our gloop.
