First things first, no food here, just drinks. Second, live trad music at 6pm & 10pm when I went in early October. Seating is tight so get there early & grab a few beers and find yourself a spot. This was a fun pub and the beers and music were just what I wanted. I plan to come back the next time I'm in Galway.

The service was incredibly attentive and welcoming. The fish and chips? Hands down the BEST I've ever had -- perfectly crisp on the outside, flaky and tender inside. And the seafood chowder was beyond words. Rich, flavorful, and packed with seafood. Of course, the beer was fresh and delicious, just as it should be. The fish and chips did not disappoint and the portion size was very generous. If I had to pick a flaw I suppose I would mention the size of the container of the tartar sauce that comes with the meal is very small, about three smears worth. Also, omg, look at the chips! Those are some unique shaped chips, at first I thought they were potato chips that were fried but no, they were French fries that looked like a potato chip. We stopped here after visiting the cliffs of Moher, the restaurant is located in Doolin County, which I believe has a cave you can visit if you want to get some more adventures in after a great meal at a terrific authentic Irish Pub. The restaurant in the hotel looked very boring so we decided to check out Porterhouse. When we arrived there it was FULL with locals. As we had a toddler , so they seated us in a private dining area outside the bar to comply with the regulation that kids aren't allowed in bars after 9 pm. Our server was very friendly. The staff was really good! He took our orders, got us to try a few beers and whiskeys before we finalized our orders to ensure that we really enjoy what we order. At this point we were just blown away by the hospitality despite being extremely crowded. We ordered two pints of beer, a shot of whiskey, fish and chips and a vegetarian curry dish. Everything tasted fantastic. The place itself was huge and the ambiance was of the traditional Irish pub. Brick walls, good music, fantastic pours, great food and warm smiles all around.

Antiques all around, there was a trunk for a table in the area we sat at, then they opened a curtain to another room for overflow. We sat at a large table for our group that ventured over for the night. Great ambiance, I can't speak to the service because I didn't go up to the bar to order. They are all very knowledgeable about the area and have some amazing stories to tell! The walls of the pub itself also tell a story, with lots of personal photos and trinkets collected over the years by the family. They also serve the best pint of Guinness in the land! It's a great spot to come with a big group of friends, there's loads of space and also a room with a pool table! The pub itself doesn't serve food, but they very kindly allow you to bring food in from the neighbouring takeaway while you enjoy your drinks which is brilliant! Always make sure to drop by when I'm in the area, it's well worth it!

I can't remember having better goat cheese. And to top it off, there music from 5-7 and 9-11. This is definitely a place to come while in Limerick.
