We hired Macconnell to design a septic system relocation and flow reduction to make room for a pool…read moreaddition. We signed the contract, they arrived on the property, and we discussed what we needed. And our issues began. Their employee engineer placed flags to indicate where the septic lines are and where the repair field should be - all in the backyard. Once they placed the flags, they said, "Please don't worry. If the flags disappear, we will revisit the site and fix the issue." The flags disappeared, and they refused to revisit (sorry, we're too busy), but the good thing is they provided a refund for the flags which they took back with the extra fee ($1000) for their fault (read below). In order to receive the build permit for the septic, we had to sign a contract with a pool builder because the permits were somewhat connected with the pool, which we delayed because of personal issues, and because we needed time to find a pool builder, to finance the project, and so on. Then they decided to bill us the fee for the septic build permit, which we didn't have in hand and which was against the contract. According to the contract, they had to provide a septic build permit, and then we had to pay for it. Anyway, to avoid issues, we paid. Do you know what happened next? The septic company came to relocate the pipes. They started working just to figure out that, yes, you guessed right, there is not enough space for the repair field because.. as I found out from their email on the same day, I had to remove 4 trees of which nobody ever told me I need and which trees to remove. So after I figured out which trees, I removed them on the next day. The county representative came a few days after, and the engineering company sent their employee, and they all spent some time measuring the backyard and finally stated that there was not enough space where the engineering company initially designed it, so they moved the repair field to the front yard. Of course, the trees weren't the issue, but the wrong calculations by the engineering company. Macconnell asked for an extra $1000 for their time, despite us not being at fault. Again, to avoid further delays, we paid the extra fee. In the end, they calculated the impervious surface wrong with hundreds of square feet (vastly different from what the building sketch showed on the county website), placed the pool on the wrong spot 5 times, and we had to explain over and over again, overcharged us for their fault, and then ignored us.
