Specialties
Gilded Hearth is a narrative-driven, full-service interior design studio based in Culver City, Los Angeles. Founded by Emily Brownell, we specialize in character-rich renovations and whole-home design for clients who want their home to feel like it could only belong to them.
We're drawn to homes with strong bones and rich history — Spanish Colonial, Tudor, Craftsman, Mediterranean, and cottage-style architecture — and we're equally at home creating that sense of depth and rootedness in newer construction. Our process is deeply collaborative, with a particular strength in sourcing one-of-a-kind vintage pieces and connecting clients with local artisans whose work carries a sense of place.
Based in Culver City, we work across Los Angeles — from Mar Vista, Palms, and Cheviot Hills to West Hollywood, Los Feliz, Hancock Park, and Brentwood, out to Malibu, and down through the South Bay including Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. We also have a soft spot for the foothills, including La Cañada Flintridge. We take on select projects nationwide, with a particular affinity for the Northeast including the Hudson Valley and Adirondack region

Meet the Business Owner: Emily B.
Emily Brownell is the founder and principal designer of Gilded Hearth. She brings a background in film, writing, and storytelling to every project — an approach that shapes how she listens to clients, interprets a home's history, and builds interiors that feel genuinely lived-in and personal. Emily is known for her eye for one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, her relationships with local artisans and makers, and her ability to bring narrative depth to spaces ranging from 1920s Spanish Colonials in Los Angeles to historic homes in the Adirondacks. She is based in Culver City with her family.
