The owner of this establishment is arrogant to a point. I knew his father who was a good man. One little short fellow with a longer beard who works there thinks he's a bad ass for some unknown reason and has snide remarks to make. I bought a shotgun there some time back and the older bearded guy who retired from Kroger is a really good person. He's the one I bought the shotgun from. I'd bought some ammunition there prior to buying the shotgun, also. I hadn't gone in there for years due to the attitude of the ppl there (they're doing YOU a favor just by being there), but thought I'd try them again. Unfortunately, nothing has changed so I won't be back. I recommend Mike's Guns. Mike is retired now but Christian, the new owner, seems to be a good young man of character. Ppl hang out at Mike's, not unlike ppl at a popular general store. They don't at Gilbert's. Take that for what you will. read more

Excellent company. Amazingly fast shipping. Ordered 9mm ammo on May 8, 2021, order was shipped on May 9, 2021, and received on May 13, 2021. Shipping was reasonable at a flat $9.50, unlike some stores that charges $20 - $50 to ship 10 boxes of 50 rounds of 9mm. I would definitely buy from them again. read more

Gilberts set up shop here in 1978. from the very beginning they had a reputation for high prices. and it is still the same in 2021. you can buy pretty much anything they stock cheaper somewhere else. furthermore, at this time the young man behind the counter with all the tattoos has a poor attitude with a sarcastic manner about him. if i had an employee who acted the way he does towards customers i would fire him right away. i gave the shop 2 stars instead of one because they do have a good selection of inventory. but you'll save money buying elsewhere. read more

Mr. Gilbert, the owner was real nice to me and my buddies when we entered the store in uniform. Rolled out the red carpet and all. Went back to make a purchase upon his recommendation and spoke to a younger guy. I had already made up my mind before I had come back into the store to layaway the weapon till next payday (I was not in uniform that day) so all the young guy really had to do was be pleasant and help me with the paperwork. At least he helped me with the paperwork... When I returned to pickup my new weapon, the young guy was there again. I told him I was there to pickup my new weapon. When I asked to inspect the weapon and for him to break it down for me prior to purchasing it, he responded that "once we complete the paperwork I can break it down for you." Apparently he thought I was going to make the purchase without inspecting the weapon first. When I informed him that I wasn't going to buy it without first inspecting it, he looked as if I had asked for something beyond belief ! His attitude worsened as he reached under the counter and grabbed a rag and took the weapon from me to wipe some of the excess packing lube from it. I actually had to ask him to borrow the rag to clean my hands from the brief encounter that I had from the grease. He quickly field stripped it and rudely shoved it in my face to inspect. After the inspection I put the weapon back together and asked if it was alright to dry fire it, he said sure go ahead. After dry firing 4 or 5 times the trigger seemed notchy, but 4 or 5 more times and it seemed to smooth out quite a bit, so I accepted the purchase of the weapon. Now anyone with any common sense would have asked to sell me some ammo or a holster or some accessories or something, but not this guy. I had to ask him to buy ammo. Really? And a holster? Since I was headed to the range the next morning I bought a couple of boxes of ammo, 50ct because they don't stock 100 ct. Seriously? Never offered to sell me any bulk ammo, just 50ct. On my way home I passed by Mikes Archery and Guns so I stopped and went in. Had a nice conversation with Mike Jr. who is a Firefighter. They were busy but once he could talk we spoke for about 10 minutes just about ammo. I would have paid more for the ammo he sold me but ended spending a dollar less! Being friendly to me has earned Mike's my future purchases. read more

This year COVID 19 has made things understandably more difficult for everybody. That being said I don't think that gives people a right to take advantage of other people. I have been looking for a Glock 43x blue label gun for a little while and learned most of the blue label dealers didn't have any in stock. I called Gilbert's and they notified me that they did have a couple in stock. Gun dealers get these pistols at a discounted price to sell the law enforcement and first responders. Every other location I have spoke with has the same price. Gilbert's blue label price for this gun was almost $100 higher.... basically not even selling it at a discount. I contacted Glock and spoke with a representative. The representative said unfortunately it sounds like they are taking advantage of the time we are currently in. This may be within in their right but morally it's pretty sad. Just my $.02. This is also reason enough not to come back. read more
