This was a beautiful church when Pastor Terry Palmer was there. When he retired, the "nominating committee" brought in Pastor Judy Wellington. They raved about how she was the most qualified candidate. Quite to the contrary. She read her sermons, misquoted scriptures, and made comments like "this is redundant" when referring to lighting the Christ candle. Then proceeded to say, "for those of you who are new, it won't matter and for those of you who have been here for awhile, get use to it. I was installed as a Deacon under Pastor Palmer and was proud to serve. After seeing how little she respected what Gilbert Presbyterian Church stood for, I put in my resignation. When she told me Gilbert Presbyterian would NEVER be the same, I knew my decision was the right one. I went to church to hear meaningful sermons that I could take with me during week, like we once had. Instead, I left confused trying to make sense of what she was talking about. I find it interesting that this most qualified pastor that was raved about is no longer there. I've seen people who went there at one time show up at the church I'm attending now.
