This was a beautiful church when Pastor Terry Palmer was there. When he retired, the "nominating…read morecommittee" brought in Pastor Judy Wellington. They raved about how she was the most qualified candidate. Quite to the contrary. She read her sermons, misquoted scriptures, and made comments like "this is redundant" when referring to lighting the Christ candle. Then proceeded to say, "for those of you who are new, it won't matter and for those of you who have been here for awhile, get use to it. I was installed as a Deacon under Pastor Palmer and was proud to serve. After seeing how little she respected what Gilbert Presbyterian Church stood for, I put in my resignation. When she told me Gilbert Presbyterian would NEVER be the same, I knew my decision was the right one. I went to church to hear meaningful sermons that I could take with me during week, like we once had. Instead, I left confused trying to make sense of what she was talking about. I find it interesting that this most qualified pastor that was raved about is no longer there. I've seen people who went there at one time show up at the church I'm attending now. That speaks volumes.

I admit, that wasn't very Catholic of me. My husband and I have attended three Life Teen masses at 6 p.m., and I enjoy the church very much. Father Stan Nadolny is amazing. He has a joyful presence! His spirit is contagious, and he keeps the congregation engaged with his relevant homilies. The interior of the church is beautiful, and the alter is an intricate wood carving of the last supper. The only thing I don't like is the offertory candles are electric, so you donate $2 to flip a switch. I realize this is probably better for the church and the environment, but I am traditional, and like igniting my wick to flame.

This church has such a loving feeling to it that it we felt right at home immediately. We became active in many of their groups & decided to join as Founding Members when that option was available. We raised our daughter while attending this church, almost from when we moved back to Arizona when she was in third grade until she finally went off to college. After our daughter moved, eventually now to Gilbert, we became friends with Alice, a woman we met at ACC and worked with her on Sunday mornings helping the church in various ways. In January 2022, Alice died after being hit by a truck while she was waiting for the bus to go to work. Alice had also gone to ACC for many years, and the church did a beautiful celebration of her life, giving her friends, work associates, and other members of ACC a chance to mourn and share positive memories & thoughts of Alice. My whole family is very grateful for this church and how wonderfully they have served our family! Thanks, all at ACC, for all you do for everyone. KS
