What a find! If you…read moreLIVE in Gig Harbor (as we do), enjoy wine, want to get out on a chilly weekend night and hang out somewhere warm, friendly, and cozy while sipping small-production delicious wines, then this truly hidden gem (behind another business in an old house) is for you! (& me!) If visiting Gig Harbor, step away from the main drag, go up just a few blocks, park in Cuvee's lot (or across the street in the giant lot) and find yourself in a wee living room with good company & tasty wines. Only off-putting thing to anticipate is the plastic glassware containing potentially very fine (& spendy) wines. My husband - lifelong wine biz - was a bit put off by his $20+ glass of chardonnay poured into plastic. But maybe this was a one off? I own a wine bar & spent three hours washing crystal last night and agree it's a pain, but also a labor of love as our wines are excellent (as are our guests) & sometimes you gotta wash the Riedel :) Highly recommend this adult-vibe, relaxing wine bar.

After we got done with our visit we had just enough time to duck in here and check it out. There are lots of spices and some that are not easy to find so Steve stocked up on some for meals at home. There is also a wide variety of balsamic vinegars with a wide range of flavors. You can get a spoon and taste different ones which is a lot of fun to do! What also drew me in was their candy selection. While it's not a huge section some of the things they have are quite unique. Like a licorice caramel for example. I purchased a few of those and they were very enjoyable! Definitely a great place to swing by and take in their options. To one side of the shop it looked like a small wine tasting area. While it was closed when we were there probably it being close to them closing that is something to explore there as well.

(Check out their website for events dates and details.) It's a private small group, intimate multi-course dinner experience with only a handful of other guests. As you arrive, you're greeted with a glass of wine and a few appetizers. The stuffed grape leaves with fig and Gorgonzola cheese were spectacular! Really packed with flavor in a few bites. The event is hosted by the owner, where she guides the group to the vines and gives a history of the vineyard and such. As we move through the vineyard, we heard from our chef and where all our food was sourced, and how it was prepared. We are then guided to a large table with fresh bread and butter as the next several courses are served. The cedar planked salmon with strawberry balsamic chutney was the highlight of the meal. The salmon was tender and moist, and strawberry atop was the best flavor combination. Each pairing of wine throughout the evening was perfect, everything went well with each dish. The best was the specially served 2016 Semillon Ice Wine Wahluke Slope! Literally the best tasting wine I've ever had, light but packed with flavor. To wrap up our dinner experience we were served a rhubarb crisp and could purchase wine to take home. My husband and I took home two bottles: 2024 Pinot Gris from Yakima Valley which we were served. It was about a three hour dinner experience - worth it for a special occasion!

# Tasting Room Heartbreak: When Man's Best Friend Gets Banned…read more Just found out today was Pickle's last day at one of my favorite wine tasting rooms, and I'm absolutely devastated. As someone who visits weekly, this place has become my weekend sanctuary precisely because it was so dog-friendly. The charm of seeing Pickle's sweet face in the window was something I looked forward to every visit. I can't count how many times I've watched people walking by stop dead in their tracks, point at that adorable face peering out, and decide right then to come inside. Nathan's charismatic hosting is what initially kept me coming back weekend after weekend, but the dog-friendly atmosphere truly sealed the deal. In a world where finding quality places that genuinely welcome our four-legged family members is rare, this spot stood out. To the management: please reconsider this decision. Pickles wasn't just a cute mascot - he was part of what made your tasting room special. As a devoted wine club member, I'm seriously questioning whether I'll continue my visits without the joy of seeing that precious pup. Who else is heartbroken about this?
