I went to Gibson House Antiques in Picayune during the Spring Festival and the bathrooms were closed during the event. I inquired why and found out that the business had over $6000.00 in damages to the womans bathroom at the last event. They use to charge NON-Customers $1.00 to offset the expenses during the event, which was nothing compared to New Orleans charging $10 during Mardi Gras. In the past, if you presented a reciept from the store, the bathroom use was free for the day, all you had to do was ask. I think its unfair to judge a business when you don't know the facts. Gibson House has always been more than fair to their customer and even though they will no longer have bathrooms during the events, I certainly understand the challenges small businesses have with theft, vandalism, and the outrageous cost of keeping a brick and mortor business going. read more
