A lot of flea markets of this nature can become holes of oddities and hey, one person's trash IS another person's treasure, but typically it's very hard for me to find things that peak my interest. However, River Road is FANTASTIC. I was already enamored by all of the vintage signs outside of the building and when I walked in I was greeted by a really kind man and a ton of incredibly beautiful furniture, furs and jewelry in immaculate condition. Plus, the items here are SHOCKINGLY affordable--like WHOA affordable. A vintage rabbit fur coat was about $125, which was awesome. There were a lot of really great pieces of furniture for less than $200 each, which is extremely competitive for the area. I wish I knew of this place when I was furnishing my house, I would have saved a ton of money!!!! But the best part was a stall I was looking through whose owner was reorganizing and she was so kind and recommended various coats she had that I was pawing through. I found this beautiful velvet coat for $15 bucks (!!!) and a cute little umbrella pin for the coat lapel. I also found this knee-length coat with a faux fur collar that I was dying for, but I figured one coat at a time was best. In short, I will be back VERY VERY soon and I can't wait to return with visiting family and friends. GO GO GO! PS it is cash only but there is an ATM with a low withdraw fee next to the register. Some spots are overloaded with goods for sale. There were a few good things. Mainly an air of despair hung over this entire area. There seemed to be a few vendors that were permanent. It's a one stop shop for your taste buds to travel Latin America- no passport or cash needed. They had food vendors from Mexico all the way to the Dominican Republic. We tried shakes from Honduras- we picked strawberry and guyabano. Both flavors were delicious and cooled us down. Next we got carne asada arepas from Colombia, the meat was seasoned so well and it was oozing with cheese. We played it safe and got tacos from the Mexican spot. They were delicious! The tortillas were freshly pressed and the meat was loaded. They also give you a red salsa and green. I wish we would've left room for dessert because there were some good looking dessert options. The food court offered mostly Latin/South American options. I really wanted some french fries but could not find any. For a nice Saturday afternoon, I wanted to see more of the vendors open for business. I do like the fixed structure of the flea market versus the typical mobile structure you usually see.

There is a lot of stuff to go thru. Some is on the new side, some is ancient. Gail was working when I came in and she is a talker. She was so friendly and happy to tell you anything you want to know. She even told me where I should go for lunch, and she was absolutely correct in her suggestion. They have everything here from kitchen appliances to books to cement sculptures, moving vans to rent, original artwork, just a bit of everything. Her stories were so funny, I wish I could have spent more time there just talking to her. I would suggest stopping by if you are in the area. It is really a thing to experience.
