Brenda at the Customer Service desk is the best!!! I came her to purchase an EZ Pass for my vehicle and Brenda greeted me with a warm smile and offered her assistance. There were no passes at the customer service desk so she advised she had to go to the office to retrieve more, which was fine with me. Upon her return she processed my transaction, filled the gaps with some friendly chatting and before long I was on my way. Easy breezy! Giant as a brand is terrible. They scam everyone who doesn't have a reward card. You 100% need a reward card for any of the displayed prices to be honored. So I get the reward card and they give you points, 1 point for each dollar spent. You can get free milk by redeeming 300 points! Wow 300$ gets you some milk. Woopie! But here's the catch; the reward items are typically sold out. They don't let you get a rain check. They recently had a special offer of a Daiya pizza for 15 points. I went every day of the week to 2 Giants and it was never in stock. Do they offer a rain check? No, they offer 15 points (15 cents worth of store credit.) THIS IS A CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH. It is illegal! Please contact me as I am organizing a class action lawsuit and need over 100 victims. I am paying for the lawsuit. read more

Some of the food I got (yogurt smoothies) had gone off despite not being near their expiration date. They clearly hadn't been stored and handled correctly. I had this happen once before with some mashed potatoes I bought here where when I got home and opened them up, they were moldly, but I figured it was a fluke. I made an appointment for Covid Booster at Gaint, Muddy Branch, 20878. My appointment was at 10 am and I arrived at 9:45 am. There was no sign or any direction to say how we should proceed, so I waited in line for 20 min. Nobody asked why you are here. After 20 min, I approached the counter asking if there is paperwork to fill while waiting. Again with no info or advice on the procedure, the pharmacist took my CDC card, DL, and my insurance card and handed me 3 forms to fill out. The forms she handed me was the one I've already filled up online when I was making the appointment but did not mind doing it again since I was thinking I have to wait in line. While I was filling up the forms, another customer showed up, saying he is late for his 10 am appointment, so another pharmacist asked me to take my paper somewhere else, so she can assist him! After another 20 min (at 10:25 am), I asked if I can my DL and insurance card back because I can not wait any longer and had to go. They told me my paper is with the pharmacist, and 2 min later the pharmacist called me to give me the shot after finishing up with the other client who was late for his 10 am appointment! When I told her I need my paperback and I am not going to get the shot here, she told me that "putting in information takes time, and you were just a walk-in client". Really! That means she didn't bother to look up at the screen to check/ask me if I've got an appointment, and also means she took the liberty to keep me 45 min behind the counter without giving any direction or info regarding the procedure. And I was not the only one there. There was at least 3 elderly client at the moment, and God knows how long they have been there for the booster? I feel so ignored, discriminated against the other client who was 15 min late for his appointment. To be precise, I was punished for showing up 15 min early! In terms of customer service, this has got to be the worst Giant Food store I have been to in the area. Have a question or need to find an item? You probably won't be able to find anyone to answer it or help you located what you are looking for. You would think they were all up front at the registers, but nope. Think again. The workers who are ringing up customers are super slow. There were two individuals in front of me (each with about 5-10 items in their carts) and it took me almost 10 minutes until I was checked out. Yikes! Don't expect a smile from them either. 3.0 Prices are fair and the lines typically are not very long. Parking is pretty big here, this location can be busy, but the lines typically run ~10 or less min for when I've been here. They have a decent selection of products, I usually am here for Milk, bakery items and the occasional last-minute thank you card. Personally I have mixed reviews on the floral service, I think for the simpler items they are responsive and able to help last minute with a decent price and selection. For High Schoolers this can be a location for things like the Corsage / Boutineers that aren't too expensive. The other customers in this location are kind - as a child growing up, we used to hold bake sales outside of this Giant and would be able to raise a great amount of money without much trouble from other locals and store workers. Tips / Takeaways: -Good selection of items from microwavables, to bakery items, to basic flower arrangements, to produce/meats, and thank you cards. -As with any grocery shopping experience, going on "off times" is typically best, weekend mornings can be busier. read more

It's a small, but clean, well stocked and fairly efficent Giant. Just a note of warning, crazies seem to shop here. I don't mean derelicts or actual insane people (those I can deal with)...I mean the crazy cat ladies and bored soccer moms that are questioning their life choices. These weirdos will flip out on you if you push your cart past them (with plenty of room to spare), or start putting your groceries on the belt before they are done unloading their cart. This Giant is my local Giant it has been around a while not as new as a lot of other grocery stores in the area but it still has its perks. The employees are friendly, they have a good produce section and cheaper prices on almost everything over other local grocery stores. Parking is easier here than other local stores. Do not like how many self checkouts they have though, seems they only have 2 or3 cashiers at any given time. read more

Pretty typical suburban grocery store; i.e., lots of processed food in the aisles; and only a minority of the store dedicated to fresher, more natural foods. But of course, the prices are good and everything is very convenient. Except for the condoms (what a random thing to have to comment on...). They (even the cheap, $2.99 ones!) are secured in anti-theft packaging, so you have to check out with an actual employee rather than being able to discreetly check out at one of the self-checkout lanes. This is my primary store. Been a loyal customer for almost 10 years. In all this time I have had zero complaints until now. They have a black loss prevention employee who racially profiles his own people. This sickens and saddens my at the same time. This person accused my 11 year old daughter of stealing after she finished using the self check out ilse. After speaking with many senior employees, I find out that this is his typical modus operendi. read more

Worst Giant. Cashier picking his nails before handling food is gross. Cashier who in mid unloading of my groceries tells me he is closed and I need to repack up my items and go to another cashier. The deli counter took forever and I was the only customer there. This Giant does not live up to the Giant consumer promises. Pick any one of the other close by grocery stores. read more

This was my first time at a Giant grocery store. I've been a Safeway shopper over the past 3+ years, so this was definitely a transition! I noticed Giant doesn't carry as many brands. Also, apparently Maryland grocery stores aren't allowed to sell liquor, so we couldn't buy our New Years booze here, which was a luxury I definitely enjoyed in the past. So, we went to the liquor store next door after shopping at Giant just for the alcohol. Despite the changes, there were a few things I did appreciate about this Giant. The vegetable and fruit section is nicely labeled so I could find and grab things quickly. The customer service was also noticeably phenomenal! A young woman by the name of Anjel helped us at the check-out stand and she was extremely helpful. One of the boxes of uncooked pasta in our cart was unsealed so all of the pasta spilled out of box as I was trying to place it on the conveyer belt. But, Anjel said that I didn't have to clean it up and had one of the store clerks come and clean up the mess! I felt so bad, but Anjel made us feel okay about the situation. My husband requested a Giant shoppers card and Anjel was very helpful in that she explained the perks of the card, including scoring points for free gas from Shell. She also made sure our groceries were bagged properly as she noticed that one of the plastic bags used by the bagger had a hole in it -- she kindly replaced the bag herself! Anjel also gave us a heads up about the new bag tax in Maryland effective today and warned us about having our own grocery bags ready to go! I'm always encouraged when I see a young person take their job seriously! The changes with shopping at a new store like Giant will take some time to get used to...but the customer service left me with a very positive experience. read more

Worst customer service. Stood in line for 20 minutes only to be told when I got to the counter that I had exchange my water at the front customer service desk. And the manager that was at the desk was incredibly rude and dismissive. I switched from Harris Teeter because they had a better selection and the prices were better but I'd actually rather pay higher prices than have to step foot in a store that is consistently filthy with workers who couldn't give any less of a crap about customer service. This particular store is small and dirty. However, the people are clean and decent. But, that's neither here or there. Anyhow, I went in to order the low sodium boars head bologna. The man behind the counter made me wait a long time for some rich- looking chick to go find her hubby and to ask him what kind of smelly cheese he would like. Anyhow, when it was my turn, I noticed the meat slicer was yucky and gross-looking! 30 types of meat scraps gooped and cramped up in this machine....ewww! I love this giant because it is always maintained clean and the food is always fresh and everything is stocked correctly. All the employees know where everything is so if I stop in asking employees wheres a specific item is a know exactly where to point me too which is a great feeling so I don't waste my time looking around also the deli market has a great selection of meats and cheeses and they make it for me the way I wanted I wish I mean is they cut it for me the way I want it which is shavin. Also the location of it is very nice and they keep the parking lot very clean and when I walk in there is hand sanitizer and everything to keep everything clean inside the store and on yourself I am just completely happy with this giant read more

Customer service does not exist here. I got a surly attendant when I found myself needing help in the self-checkout. Then I went to the customer service desk to have a coupon applied to my order and the clerk barely even looked at me. Giant supposedly prides itself on customer service, but it seems to me that they should seriously re-think what that really means. read more

This store has some staff that are excellent-extremely friendly and helpful, especially the lady from the Caribbean who assists with checkout. Unfortunately the store management seems to completely ignore repeated requests from customers. For over three months, we have been requesting large paper bags to pack groceries. Each week, I am told an order will be placed, and that other customers are making the same request, but still no sign of large paper bags. How difficult can it be, when other nearby stores manage to get them in the store for customers? This is unacceptable customer service, especially as we are paying for the bags! read more

I've been shopping at this Giant for 17yrs and this is the worst I've ever seen it. The security person is not doing their job. I have seen people stealing in the store all the time. God forbid there may be a serious crime taking place. The aisles are already narrow enough, why do you have so many display stands?? Not only do they clog the pathway for customers to get by but, they are in the way of getting to items that are on the shelves!!! Several times I have gone in the store and the shelves are completely empty....water, spaghetti sauce, crackers, etc. Don't you have employees that stock the shelves overnight?? The items on the shelves are in the wrong place or mislabeled and the ice cream in the freezer is freezer burned, really? When at self checkout and there's a problem, the people who are supposed to be helping you are not around. They are either not paying attention or socializing. Who's managing this place??Last, when I come to the store to do my shopping, I do not want to be harassed about donating money or items to charities. On weekends there are people handing out flyers, inside you have employees harassing you to give money. I went over to Harris Teeter and the first thing that was noticed is how neat, stocked and organized the shelves were. I was pretty impressed!! read more

If I could, I would give this place 0 stars. I strongly believe that any person or any store should take responsibility over what they or their employees have said. More importantly, it should be common sense to value customer satisfaction over a tiny profit. However, this Giant has failed at both. Even though this Giant (#368) has already gained a reputation in the area for poor service, I have received the worst customer service ever, or lack of, here. Not only were the employees ill-informed about the store's policies, but they were also extremely rude and unreasonably inflexible. Although I once was a customer, the insolence displayed by these employees has permanently desecrated my opinion of this store. They had a lack of customer service and employees were unwilling to even hear the customer. Additionally, this store displayed the worst possible attitude of any business: prioritizing profit above customer satisfaction. I recommend that NO ONE COME to this store unless they want TO BE LIED TO and TO BE TREATED DISRESPECTFULLY. Here is what happened: I had originally bought two premade corsages from the flower department. Since this store had a very limited selection, I had to visit other stores in the area. After finding a much better quality corsage at another store, within 24 hours, I wanted to return the two corsages purchased. Although I accidentally forgot my receipt, the employee kindly told me that I could still return it any time the next day. However, when I did arrive early next day, another employee told me that I could not return it. A manager also claimed that since the corsages were for prom and since prom had apparently passed, they cannot be returned (the corsage boxes had no indication of being for prom and I wasn't even buying the corsages for prom). Since I was evidently not told this the day before, I politely asked to see the policy or the employee from the day before. The manager refused my requests. I felt betrayed that the manager and the employee could not take responsibility over their mistakes. So when the employee from the previous day arrived, I kindly confirmed what she told me before. However, the employees repeatedly said that the manager has the final say and nothing else can be done. Without a doubt I asked to see the manager again. Instead the employee called security/police. When I tried to explain the situation to him, he threateningly said that the manager did not want to see me and that I should leave immediately. I was appalled by their lack of fundamental respect and inflexibility, so I left. I do not believe that this situation could have been any worse. No customer should ever not feel the way that I had when I left the store. I felt immeasurably disrespected and cheated. If a store or its employees don't even know how to treat a customer, I will no longer go there and will urge others from going there too. read more

The recent batch of cashiers is incredibly slow and unprofessional. They will let stuff pile up in the bagging area to the point that your deli items are turning into bags of mush and eggs are being tumbled like they are in a clothes dryer. read more
